He dropped a mixtape titled Earl which earned him a lot of recognition but before he could build upon that his mom sent him away to Samoa because she didn’t like the guys he as hanging out with. Odd Future blew up in the year or so he was away and #FreeEarl became a movement to get Earl back from Samoa. This was his first single once he was back and it’s highlighting how little he’s enjoying the famous life and the strain it has put on his relationships. Just a bit of backstory to explain the mood of this track. Especially the last verse where he says “thanks so much you’ve made my life harder and the ties between my mom and I are straining tight and even more than they were before all of this shit, been back a week and I already feel like calling it quits”. Seeing as everyone wants you to listen to Travis Scott listen to “drugs you should try it” or “ok alright”more experimental songs and “basement freestyle” or “I can tell” for bangers
Also listen to some older stuff from denzel which I definitely prefer like “ultimate” and “envy me”
For more lyrical rap listen to “mural” by lupe fiasco “that’s that” by mf doom and “survival tactics” by joey badass and capital steez (rip)

Check out Tyler, The Creator. He and Earl are long time friends. 911/Mr Lonely is one of his best songs
