"25 minutes until the explosion" refers to the bomb planted by Baroque Works and Crocodile, not to Vivi's attempt at blowing up the castle. I can see were the confusion could arise tbh
Nami cares about money because is something that is a part of her from trying to free up her village all those years. Is a funny gag too but also she cares about money because to her money means freedom. In the series she is quick to give away money if it means saving a friend so to call her eternally selfish is crazy. she literally spent her life stealing for the freedom of her village!
Don't take Nami's action of selfishness too seriously, most of it is just a gag and obviously she doesn't mean it, she would literally go bankrupt just to save a friend that she just met for a few days
right hes so wildly negative at this point. either hes too dumb to understand the subtle stuff or he's too focused on relating everything to real life. get over it its an anime. and i would have hit usopp too if i asked for a weapon and half the design is party tricks, seriously usopp are u trying to get someone killed
You know the point of Zoro flashing back to Sanji saying "he only saves ladies" before cutting to him chaperoning Usopp and Chopper after their battles are done and flashing back to Nami trying to bill Vivi for their services when in the previous episode she intentionally underwent grevious injury to win the fight and said that it was nothing compared to the pain Vivi was going through is that they are lying liars who lie. Usopp is far more honest in his motivations by contrast. Half the crew has trouble admitting they care about people! Even Chopper, except he's so bad at covering up his genuine reactions it becomes a running gag.
When Koza got shot, you had a "Holy Crap!" moment. But it wasn't because you were worried about Koza. It's because you were worried about the peace Koza was trying to create on Vivi's behalf. That's how Oda can generate narrative tension even when we know that none of the main characters are at risk of death or greivous bodily harm. Even if there's no chance of the Straw Hats dying, they can still *lose*.
"I thought Arlong would be the worst person in this show." Oh, my sweet summer-child. Arlong, and Crocodile for that matter, are both *saints* next to some of the villains later.
The reason I like Crocodile the most is that he makes sure his plans have backups. And the backups have backups. And the backup-backup have backups. This is why he's so confident. For the person trying to figure out his plans, he needs to find out the initial layer, peel it, find another one, peel it and rinse and repeat until all backups are foiled. Makes stopping him so extremely hard.
'Her wrongs are starting to pile up' simply get a stronger back. Lift with your knees. In this house we support ALL Robin's wrongs no matter how big the pile. 😂❤
This cast will never change. Give up on that now... That's their power, they change the world, not the other way around. Also, FullMetal Alchemist is a legendary series that's been completed for over 14 years. If folks don't know it already, being spoiled is on them. "Nobody dies. So it lacks all narrative tension" - Nerdy, minutes later sees a guy shot for the second time right before nearly ending the conflict "Oh. My. GOD!" HAHAHAH, clearly DEATH isn't what provides narrative tension, does it? But obstacles in front of the protagonist goals that provides Tension. That's what One Piece does extremely well without the need to rely on character fatalities. After all, it's a fairy tale... nobody dies in fairy tales.... Right?! RIGHT?!! Zehahaha!
Look something you gotta understand about One Piece is that its really really really really really really really really really really really REALLY HARD for people to get killed.
Hi Nerdy I love you, thank you for giving me something to look forward to 😭 edit - 14:57 THATS WHY HE HAS ONE OF THE BEST LAUGHS DUDE 19:31 I haven’t audibly CACKLED at a youtube video in a while 💀
You stumbled upon what a lot OF people consider Oda-senseis biggest flaw. He just can't kill his darlings, or distand friends,... people he saw pass by in the bus once... It happens; sure, but as you experienced already, not as often as it should.
I don’t think they can since the manga isn’t complete yet, a lot of random nobodies who maybe should have died have already shown up again, sometimes in important roles. I think they’re too scared to perma-kill someone like Koza in the LA only for him to end up saving Alabasta or marrying Vivi or something wild in the last arc of the manga. It’s the kind of thing Oda has done and will do again I’m sure
@@cass6082I think they can get around that by making the deaths ambiguous. They don't have to be confirmed dead, just don't show them during the end of arc party. Then if they ever need to bring them back, they can just do a flashback showing how they survived. One Piece characters come back from the dead all the time anyway, so it shouldn't be too jarring.
I just caught up to your reactions the day this video came out. I got started on your main channel watching the live action reactions. I've enjoyed watching you experience the cruise.
You're not supposed to think Chaka is dead, just beaten. Now there are deaths that are actual fakeouts xD And no, most of us don't like them any more than you would because they often don't serve much purpose.
Sanji saying he only saves ladies is clearly just bs he says all the time, he literally went to help Usopp from Mr 2. He was also pissed Mr 2 took Usopp goggles and got them back for him (even if they broke in the fight😅). And after that he ran to check on both Usopp and Chopper. Sanji would help anybody in need, men or women, and would die for any member of the crew.
Yes your complaints are held by a lot of the long time one piece fans the show is great here but gets better and better as he learns how to give fights better tension and tie them into the plot better.
yeah your gonna have to get used to a different form of tension, in one piece it isn't just about loss of life. its about loss in general, loss of innocence, the loss of dreams. the separation of people who love each other, its about sacrifice. there are a few genuine deaths. but hundreds of survivals. its about being scared about how the straw hats can stay together and accomplish their dreams.
6:00 4kids did not get here. They fucked up so badly with one piece that the company went under before they could reach this arc. As someone who put off watching One Piece for like 5+ years because of 4kids extremely slapdash handling of it, I do not feel badly for them about it lmao. I took one look at the anime when I was in my early teens, saw literally 0 tension as people were holding water guns and stupid contraptions and shit and acting like they were real guns, and said "Naw fam, this aint for me" and refused to watch out of principle. A lot of people around my age are the same, and that's legitimately why Naruto took off when One Piece didn't in the U.S. until much later.
So funny you mention that. At least for a bunch of Marines, the 4Kids censoring turned their rifles into Super Soakers (bright green bodies and everything)
Oh gosh the casual Crocodile Kermit Anakin crossed so many wires in my brain I malfunctioned for like five minutes Lovely Les Mis btw *added to nerdy cover playlist*
Good lord, your imitation of Crocodiles laugh killed me, holy shit. I mean, killed me like One Piece characters, so kinda not really. then again, I am an NPC so... maybe I am dead after all. Nah, jokes aside, it gets better. For the most part in One Piece, fights are handled by knocking people out tho.. or heavily injuring the opponent. But if someone dies, believe me, you will not be prepared for it
I like you criticism, its valid most of the time, but hating on pervy jokes while you yourself didnt miss a single opportunity to hit a whole bunch of the same calibre low hanging jokes -gotta be the biggest hypocrisy of your reactions You hating on Sanji while, dude... You are Sanji of the group😅 maybe not him in particular, but you are literally no better than a man
What can I say...? If you thirst for blood, and a cartoon that is littered with the corpses of the defeated any time there is a battle... Then One Piece might not be for you. Maybe try Chainsaw Man?
Yea, you kinda just adjust to the series working on like video game rules where characters don't get killed they just get downed for a round. Just enjoy the shonen anime-ness. But still yea....the fanbase half hates it half jokes about how many characters can take multiple nukes to the face are just like "welp ima take a nap"
I have a feeling you’re going to have a really hard time getting through the next arc. It’s pretty polarizing, especially in the anime. And the issues you have with this saga are toned down a little bit in the next saga, but they’re still pretty present. Even if you struggle, don’t give up. This series is very forgiving and you’ll find a lot of the things you have issues with right now will not be a problem after the next saga. I said previously that I’ve known people that have given up after Alabasta with the same issues you have with it and I understand it. It can feel predictable, it can feel like it lacks stakes, some of the fights can feel pointless, and some of the characters can be a bit too much. I can’t say those feelings will go away in the next saga, but all of those things do get better after the next saga. To me the “shonen” aspects of this series in terms of the format and structure shift after this saga. Alabasta was supposed to originally be the ending, so it isn’t as predictable in that regard. It does feel more like a D&D campaign and I think you’ll enjoy that aspect. I’m enjoying your perspective on the series, and I’m excited to see this series drive you mad. 😂
i never seen a reactor thats is so judgmental as you when it comes to the characters lol makes me both be annoyed by you but at the same time i wanna keep watching. this episode alone you say you cant stand Nami, You hate how Sanji is, you hate miss all sunday so much. thats crazy!
I mean, I think a lot of people have feelings like this in the moment, and because this is a reaction channel he is choosing to be transparent in that way. I also think that it illustrates how Oda writes characters where he makes some people jump to conclusions about them before they have the whole picture because it teaches lessons on empathy and understanding why people are the way that they are.
He already has the whole picture for Sanji and Nami though. He saw that Sanji went back to help Usopp with Mr 2, that he got his goggles back and then went back to check on Usopp and Chopper. So taking that flashback scene where he says he only helps ladies at face value is a bit weird, when we already saw that's not the case in reality. As for Nami, we saw how hard she has been fighting for Vivi from the start, even risking her own health for her, despite saying it's for the money. I get not liking some tropes, in this case hitting Usopp, but i feel like he's too harsh on her for what it's just a classic anime trope.
The people surviving deadly blows thing is a criticism even fans have towards the show. It is for sure a weak point. You get used to it over time, whether thats a good or bad thing. Trust me, these are some of the weaker examples. It gets worse unfortunately.
May i suggest tobyou the video alqbasta is actually hilarious by mugiwara no goofy on youtube (to watch by yourself not as a reaction) when you are done with the arc it might heal you from some of the stress and the fake out deaths 😂
