Playtime - Bunnies don't sleep all night. Why should you? They love your company and thump to get your attention. Sometimes there may be a really scary noise too. Give them some nice toys to play with on their own. Have two bunnies they keep each other company. Don't give a rattle with a bell or so inside at night. That could be something that keeps you awake for ages. Ours play lots at night. Rattle was removed - too noisy. They got other things instead.
I aslo think that rabbits can predict what will happen soon like typhoons. I just realized it knowing few days before the super typhoon here in the Philippines came.. my bunny keeps on thumping without me knowing what's bothering him. This happened many times already this year.
Huh, that's interesting! Could be they can smell/sense the atmosphere changes, like drops in pressure or petrichor or something. I'd have to look more into it, it does seem cats and dogs have almost a "sixth" sense too for these things, and just animals in general. Us dumb humans sadly lost that ability, assuming we ever even had it lol.
Love this! A welcome and informative insight into the thoughts and feelings of our bunnies and the appropriate way to respond for their wellbeing.x Thank you :)
Hi, Bunny Lady: I don't have pet rabbits but I do have yard rabbits - wild rabbits. They display fear behaviors even though I don't have a dog or a cat or make loud noises. This one rabbit has seen me almost every day since spring began, and it's still scared! I would have thought it would have become acclimated by now. Some of its behavior really amuses me. I took my newest bunny ( had her for one month/I have 3) to the vet yesterday for a check up because she sneezes every now and then. Long story short, I've been taking her to the vet the past 2 days so the tech can give my bunny her medicine since she won't take it from me...and my poor baby doesn't eat for 3 to 4 hrs after the vet because she's so stressed out. Lop ears are not natural. They were bred into rabbits because people thought this handicap looked cute. You will just have to cue in on their more subtle expressions like being rigid, making quick head movements, and generally appearing to be in an alert state.

a great deal of your rabbits behavior towards you is due to many reasons. the first of which is how long you've been interacting with then. As babies even inside their mothers womb they are sensing their environment feeling and hearing the world around them, getting familiar with sounds and motion. Upon birth and entering the world this continues as they grow, they know the scent of their mother, their syblings and their source of milk to feed. And notably even at this stage if your interacting with them, they will identify you as a family member as well. As long as you not harming them they will simply identify you as they do their own even by sound and scent. of course when their eyes eventually open they will add sight as a part of that identification. As such when they grow up they will not be afraid of you, excluding their own natural instinct to hide under imposing dangers. some of the rabbits may even take you as their parent. with a much higher degree of trust and affection. As for rabbits acquired when they are already of age, its more of a matter of time for them to get use to you. theyve already been reared by their mother and have been separated at a young age which is good because they are still of the age of needing aid and interactions with others. they inquisitive nature will see them exploring the world around them. And what better to have a friend to play and interact with. of course as their source of food they will see you as a provider. As for acquiring an older rabbit its much of the same, taking time to accustom themselves to you and their new environment. And in all these scenarios your actions and demeanor makes a ton of difference. If your loud , scare them with noise, fast motion. they will become afraid as their instinct as prey animals simply has them to be. As domesticated as they are, they are still rabbits. top of the food line for most meat eating animals. And for humans a source of both food and fur. Unpleasant as it may sound its simply the truth. And if you think it unfair keep in mind when it comes to animals skins food and more, all types of animals fall under the threat of each other. Rabbits are today in that most people view them as pets and not as food. granted that depends on the country you live in. for their size, rabbits are one of the most docile domesticated pets around. But beware, as docile are rabbits are and non-threatening. When rabbits get older they grow to become extreme territorial. And if they think your challeging their claim, their behavior will reflect anger. They may even try to nip or claw at you with grumbling sounds or the stomping of their feet. But also keep in mind stomping or thumping is also their way of communicating. Either beware danger is near, or im upset, or get out please, or even upset with ones self.

Hey I have a question! So I have a new rabbit and she’s 8 months old. She was really scared when we got her and I tried not to touch her. Slowly she became calmer and was a little more comfortable with her new home. We want her to free roam and I’ve bunny proofed the whole house…I tried to let her out of the cage but I did not force anything. I was very happy when she came out but she was still scared of me.Then she started roaming and she isn’t littertrained so she literally pooped everywhere just in like 30 seconds so I had to quickly put her back in the cage. She hated being picked up and there wasn’t any other way I could put her back in so I just had to pick her up. She was trying to get out of my grip. I still made sure I was holding her gently. She was breathing heavily and that made me scared and really sorry for her. So could anyone please tell me how do I make her familiar with being picked up and how to make her come out of the cage and not hide from me? She poops everywhere when she’s out and hides so I just have to do something to quickly scoop her back in. She has a litter box but she doesn’t do her business their…pls I’m in need of advice 😞
Holy shit, you can train a rabbit to high five?! That is so cool! How do you do it? Thank you for this informative video! Sadly my bunny gets scared sometimes and thumps, even when he is safe in his home. I think probably he smells or hears something we can't smell or hear. Or he sees sudden movement outside his window. Sometimes we can hear/smell it though, in particular my rabbit was very unhappy the one time we tried lighting a fire in the fireplace (I guess the smoke frightened him, we didn't do it again after that, which kinda sucks because it's a nice fireplace but I don't wanna do anything that'll upset or hurt my bunny!) He also seems to get scared of cats, if he can hear or I think even smell them. Oddly he doesn't seem to react as strongly to dogs though, at least it doesn't seem like it. There will be a dog barking outside and he just kind of lays/loafs there lol. He might perk his ears up a little but dogs don't appear to bother him as much as cats. I'll definitely try these things in the future, I've already been petting him and putting him back if he gets scared while out running, but I'll continue to do so, thank you. I apologize if you've already done a video about this, but do you have any tips for how to make a trip to the vet less stressful for rabbits? I always feel bad about how nervous my rabbit gets every time we take him to the vet to get his nails clipped. We'd do it ourselves, but we're afraid of accidentally cutting the quick and when we tried that with my previous pet rabbit she freaked out and wouldn't hold still enough for us to clip them. So yeah any advice on that end would be really appreciated, thanks again!
I’m scared to do this to my bunny he isn’t neutered and I’ve tried to pet him like that he’ll probably bite me, I’m really scared to do that but also want to help him, what can I do?
I did clean my rabbit cage yesterday she was very scared because I don’t usually clean her cage match which I should’ve though and she was very scared she didn’t really wanna move next day she was hiding in her hay she was shaking I’ve only had her for about a year she’s only done it once when I was moving her cage to a different cage but that was a long time ago she doesn’t really do it anymore first thing I did was petting her and I went to go get her a carrot she is better than what she was 👍
Hi....please take him to a Vet 🐰 Vets generally have activated charcoal therapy which can be given to rabbits if necessary. That is, if poisoning has taken place Best of luck! I really hope your Bunny will be ok
I need your help I am sick over this every time my rabbit is due to have his nails trimmed it’s torture he gets so scared at the vets I said last time I can’t do this to him he is so scared he started drooling etc he from going to the vets has become so smart he won’t let me pick him up anymore and I spend all my time with him we are bonded . He has a broken nail to the quick and other issues and I can’t hold him what can I do he needs to have them cut and I can’t do it alone I have tried everything to research ways and nothing he is way to smart and runs from me. This is always a stressful situation so I have to wait like 5 months in between nail trimming because I am so scared he will die of a heart attack getting his nails done . I am so sick over this and I need help
Hey, my rabbit bit me today, and drew a drop of blood, is it problematic? I did apply rubbing alcohol and clean the wound well, it didn't bleed a lot, neither did it itch a lot on cleaning it. Is it fine to go on with normal days, the lockdown restrictions are more than before in my area hence I was thinking to not risk and go out.
Can you do tips on how to calm down a saved injured wild bunny we’re going to say a rabbit tomorrow because he’s all hurt and it’s horses hurting them and they might be scared? x
My rabbit is just angry since I’ve move house I raise him from birth bit stuck on getting him from attacking everyone and he starting to attack me main Veins and taking me ages to stop the bleeding
I think my rabbit is traumatized so is likely it may take years for him to trust me and not be scared of me. I got him from a random couple on Craigslist and I was told he was likely over 5 years old- and on top of it all he had a broken back left leg that improperly healed… so he doesn’t thump
Hi please please reply I brought my bunny up to the spare bedroom from the basement he can smell the cats but not see them he’s acting very weird his new room is 8 x 9 as opposed to his enclosure in the basement how do I help him I’ve been laying down in his room with him he didn’t eat it yesterday night but he’s been eating and pooping in peeing today
I would try giving them a water bowl if you haven’t already that promotes good drinking habits. Also since they are 20 days old they should still be getting milk that could be a big reason why they’re not drinking water. So I would contact the vet and get information on a good milk supplement and a check up just to make sure everything is good and they’re not dehydrated. Also just to make sure that if they weren’t getting milk when you got them that they aren’t malnourished in any way and their levels are good. I hope that helped and good luck with your buns!
My bunny was acting suspicious and when I calmly reached my hand out she flopped on her side. Does that mean she was scared? Because she was acting a little weird this evening like she was scared.
Hi Amy! I’m in need of some advice. I rescued a 4 month old rabbit from the parking lot and now that she is around 5mo, I’m trying to begin the transition of alfalfa to grass hays. When I mix in the alfalfa and the grass hay, she makes a giant mess trying to pick out all of the alfalfa. She’s always successful at picking out the alfalfa. I’ve tried Timothy, orchard grass, oat hay, and now botanical hay. She still won’t eat any of it. She’ll bite at the botanical (probably because it smells in) but she won’t actually eat it. If I only put grass hay in, she will not eat hay for hours on end, and at that point I’m forced just to give her the alfalfa. I’ve minimized her veg and pellet intake just to encourage her to eat more hay. I’m kind of stuck on what to do.
Hi! My bunny went through a lot, and when I got him he had no hay and was on an unlimited pellet diet. To get him to eat hay, we put cilantro in it. (Fresh and dried.) every time we saw him eat hay, we told him he was a good boy and praised him. We also hand-fed him hay, and that seemed to help. It took some time, but now he goes crazy over hay! We stopped putting the cilantro in his hay, but we mix in a little treat hay. I hope this helps!
distracting and giving treats usually work for Iris at home, I wonder if it would work at the vet.... Oh I just hope we never need to go to the vets again!
my rabbit lives outside and i have been training her to wear a harness for a few months now. the other day we attached the leash to the harness and she was so excited she was running and making happy jumps, her ears are floppy and was staying down, she was cleaning herself and showing other signs of happiness and calmness. But all of a sudden she started dashing around and sniffing alot so i took her back to her house because she seemed stressed, and she started acting like she was dead? She was not in shock from what i could see, she was still licking me and eating, but just laying completely still with her eyes closed, still visibly stressed. Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening again? Should I not take her outside? She loves exploring and we’ve taken her to different parts of our backyard with a movable pen around before and she loves it. She’s totally okay with the harness because she still does happy jumps and such as I said. Just want to know if there’s anything I can do better or to prevent her from being so stressed :(
I just adopted my first bun and your channel has been immensely helpful! May I ask how I should teach my bun to become used to vacuum? Every time I cleaned up her mess using the vacuum she was so scared and froze. She will come around later but I want to learn how to get her inured, as she sheds a lot and the vacuum will be part of our life...
How old is she? From what I learned if you start to introduce these new things to them when they’re young (in little portions or little at a time) they’ll slowly become used to them, I’m not sure abt the older ones tho sorry, I think that method should work for older ones too but I’m not sure :( I hope it helped
Rabbits' teeth never stop growing, so keep him well supplied with a variety of safe toys for him to nibble. All rabbits need this. I hope you’re feeding him hay as well. He will always want to chew things. I hope that you have an exotic vet and take your bunny for regular checkups. Some rabbits' teeth grow super fast and need to have their teeth periodically trimmed by the vet. (I’ve been there with one of my bunnies!)
Give him safe things to destroy. Chewing is natural and they need to do it for their dental health. I find most commercial chew toys are a waste of time. So get creative, but also be aware that paints and chemicals on items can make them sick. There is however, one store bought toy that was an instant hit with my bunny. It's the All Living Things® Twig Tunnel. If there is a particular item, like a chair leg for instance, that you do not want him to chew, take a sponge or cloth, soak it with vinegar, and coat it.
I'm getting my bunny too but I don't know if my parents are going to say yes or no but I'm feeling free yes and I'm getting really nervous but I know if I'm getting your cage or not I'm going to get a cage only for a rest time and I think that's really it I'll give him some hey and I want a girl not a boy and I'm getting

She poops everywhere when she’s out and hides so I just have to do something to quickly scoop her back in. She has a litter box but she doesn’t do her business their…pls I’m in need of advice 😞
How’s your bunny now?
Hi can you give any advise on changing homes as I have done this and 1 of my rabbits behaviour has changed. 😥
I have a rabbit named Patches and we are at the beach and close to the road, what do I do to comfort her while I'm at the beach close to the road?
I did clean my rabbit cage yesterday she was very scared because I don’t usually clean her cage match which I should’ve though and she was very scared she didn’t really wanna move next day she was hiding in her hay she was shaking I’ve only had her for about a year she’s only done it once when I was moving her cage to a different cage but that was a long time ago she doesn’t really do it anymore first thing I did was petting her and I went to go get her a carrot she is better than what she was 👍
Your bunny looks like a small version of mine!
Thx 🤗
Hiiiii
Good job! Keep it up!
Btw. My bunny ate a dried out Clorox wipe yesterday . He ok. But I'm scared
Hi....please take him to a Vet 🐰
Vets generally have activated charcoal therapy which can be given to rabbits if necessary. That is, if poisoning has taken place
Best of luck! I really hope your Bunny will be ok
I don't think there has been any poisoning. But thanks
@@mcleomargaretm Hey, Even I took a tetanus shot as I was due for it in the first place! I am doing well.
My rabbits buried under her hay and she’s making weird sounds like she doesn’t wanna get picked up and now she’s out
I think my rabbit is traumatized so is likely it may take years for him to trust me and not be scared of me.
How do they survive in the wild O_o?
I have two rabbits they don’t drink water . Is this normal they are only 20 days old I give clean water still they throw it is it normal
“they will thump”
my bunny: letting me carry it but making a tantrum every time and making some noises and WEIRD, noises.
How can I get my bunny to stop grinding her teeth or biting
One of our rabbits is much more social and extrovert, and he is much easier to comfort, with petting or talking to him.
distracting and giving treats usually work for Iris at home, I wonder if it would work at the vet.... Oh I just hope we never need to go to the vets again!
Can you refer me to a video to clean a bunny's bum with one person to do it. Thank you 😊🙏
my rabbit lives outside and i have been training her to wear a harness for a few months now. the other day we attached the leash to the harness and she was so excited she was running and making happy jumps, her ears are floppy and was staying down, she was cleaning herself and showing other signs of happiness and calmness. Just want to know if there’s anything I can do better or to prevent her from being so stressed :(
Rabbit should not live outside!
Try a garage or something or maybe a basement but they should not be outside
I just got a rabbit for the very first time and I made a grave mistake and now she's scared of me. I need help
It's easier to just put your bunny in another room while you vacuum.
I need held ,everytime I want to pet my bunny she makes this weird noise ,im scared pls help
Hey my male bunny is neutered, but he chwes a lot ,, everything, I've given him toys still he is becoming very destructive,,what can I do
Try the Oxbow Apple sticks!
And of course plenty of hay at all times!
Just keep him occupied with chew toys!
@@logictheorist Those twig tunnels and tents are ideal for rabbits - they enjoy "remodeling" them.
I ligit found this video because I was trying to unscare myself.
So, can someone pet me too?
I wanna feel confident.
Your channel name kinda reminds me of the kitten lady
Hi
How did you teach her a high five?
She did a whole video on it :)
Two rabbits
My poor bunnies get so scared when jets fly low over the house. It scares my cat and dog too.
Interestingly, I have seen more house rabbits thumping than wild bunnies. I have not seen our wild rabbits thump. 🤔

Oh no, it is not afraid of me, I'm sceard shirtless of them, my friend has one and it jumped at me onec (not as in an attack but just to look) and I got a panik attack, so I basically fear and hate them, but I won't hurt one -

Rabbits are the most harmless animals.
