It is 2023 and I have yet to find a turkey vest better than this one. I've had it since 2015 and it is hands down the best turkey vest on the market; shame it's no longer made.
Great, glad the review was helpful. I have yet to hunt with it yet on a warm day. I'd say 50s, is probably about as warm as it's gotten, when I wear this. It's breathable, so I would think it would be OK, but I'm just making an educated guess.
@geraldb4201 It could be, but the pockets are kind of cut specific to Turkey calls. I bet someone somewhere has one of these specifically for waterfowl. I do know there are a couple vests out there for deer hunting, some in blaze or blaze/camo. Those have pockets specific to deer hunting accessories. I had a Primos one, that I loved, but after 1 season one of the buttons popped off, so I sent it back. Now I have a Cabelas Deer hunting vest, which is awesome.
that vest would also be great for water fowl hunting as well as for turkey hunting or even make them long days in the tree stand deer hunting you have plenty of room to pack a lunch so you dont have to leave your stand lol but i really do like it
Great review. Very thorough. Anyone who gives you crap is just jealous cause they didn't get a bird last season. I'm getting the Tat'r II this weekend at Cab's in Buda, TX.
Oh ok, but I bought mine right after I saw this video and I love it!!! It's SOOOOOOOOOOO comfortable! I probably have 10-15 pounds of gear in mine and it distributes the wright so much that I sometimes for get the vest is on. But I layed up against a slanted rock when I was scouting yesterday and I literally fell asleep haha. 15 stars out of 10!
If you have the iphone, or Android I HIGHLY recommend the Cabelas Recon Hunt app. It's free on Android and $5 on iPhone but its amazing! It takes awhile to get used to but its a life saver!
I love my vest!!! I've had it for about a year or 2 now, it's super comfy but the padding in the seat kinda wore out because i was using it for deer season and everything else in between... other than that its the best vest i've ever owned!!
I have found these vests to be more of a nuisance than anything. To be fair I haven't tried this one, but Ive found it much easier to get around with just what I carry on my belt.
Have you seen the ol tom I beam vest? I was just wondering if you would make a video on comparing that to the tat'r because I'm debating on which to buy. Great video though
Thanks for the video. I just purchased one. I didn't consider the Tat'r III because the kickstand had poor reviews and this one seem to have more pockets.
3/31/17: I just found this vest ON SALE today at Cabela's for $83.99. Normal price is $119.99. That's 30% off just in time for the spring turkey season. I bought it . . . !!
bobbtopgun I picked up the version with the kickstand for $83.99 last night in Garner, NC. Last one they had. The one in the video was on sale for $71.99. Great deal!
On Cabela"s reviews someone had complain it wouldn't hold a 3 1/2 in slate and the box call holder was to short. What are the sizes of your slates and box call?

yes it's a little tight on my box call, but I am able to have the moving end of my box call stick out about an inch out of the other side of the holder and it works great that way. Never had a complaint. I love this vest and I've hunted with 5 other turkey vests before I got this one.
I got mine in the mail today. I do have a question. Did you adjust the straps that hold the seat? I tried but it was very difficult. I was trying to take the pitch of the cushion and make it a little more resting on the back of the vest so it would not stick out so much. If I tighten it up does that take up the ability to flip it down? Thanks!

Good review, I have 2 of these vests, that's how much I like them, great product! Has helped me harvest over 20 gobblers since 2013!
all that is fine and good but.. How many reese's peanut butter cups will it hold?
That looks like a nice vest. I like the integrated seat!

Same. In Real Tree Xtra Green. First thing I did though, was smear some camo paint on the bright orange logo. Everything else is top - notch!

I've noticed after a couple years, and using just the seat for deer season, that the seat does get less comfortable over time.
@barney1515ful Me too. Thanks
No, in WI

@edgedweapon88 It's pretty sweet. Very comfortable.
