    Hi, great collection, was just wondering if there's a specific reason you enjoy collecting Romanian bank notes specifically? Romanian family? Live in Romania? Or just find their notes especially interesting?

    • @currencyworld
      @currencyworld  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Zakk,
      Thanks for watching. I am actually Romanian. I’ve always been interested in Romanian history. While in university I studied with Keith Hitchins, the preeminent American historian on Romania. I also wrote my dissertation on the subject. Some of the older Romanian note and coins are some of the most interesting I’ve seen. Part of the reason could be that Romanian King Carol II was an avid stamp, coin, and watch collector. So some very interesting limited issues were produced during his reign. It is also rumored that he was the owner of a custom Patek Philippe which is the holy grail for watch collectors. What do you like collecting? Would be happy to hear more from you on the channel. Please consider subscribing if you have not already.

      @@currencyworld Oh ok, that makes a lot of sense and very informative thank you, I mostly collect currency while travelling from places I visit, however there are a few extra notes I like that aren't related to just picking them up on travels such as the Japanese invasion banknotes and defunct banknotes from currencies that no longer exist like a lot of the pre-euro European ones, and already been subscribed for quite a while, this is just my first time commenting :)

    • @currencyworld

      Thanks very much for following. US occupation notes are very interesting and are still relatively inexpensive. Pre-euro notes are almost every European nation aside from Romania, the UK and a few others. It’s a shame the nations lost their individual currencies, but by the looks of it, a lot may be going back. The Euro has been disastrous for many of the poorer EU nations. Happy collecting. Hope to here from you again soon.

      Hi Neo,
      Thanks for watching. The links to the binder and pages are in the description. They are a bit on the expensive side as far as pages go but well worth it in my opinion. I hope that helps. Please consider subscribing if you have not already. I look forward to hearing more from you.

      Thanks for watching and good point. This video ended up being all Romanian banknotes as a large part of my personal collection of world banknotes is comprised of Romanian banknotes. The broader series is on world banknotes. Hope you stay tuned!

    It was Romanians along side with Germany and Italy that came to USSR and messed everything up!!!! And Romania occupation was a result of that!!!

    • @currencyworld
      @currencyworld  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Denis,
      Thanks for watching. While I respect your opinion, I strongly disagree and find your interpretation to be ahistorical. Romania joined the Axis during WWII out of necessity. Romania could not remain neutral in the face of Russian aggression, especially after the Russian annexation of Bessarabia and Bukovina (Romanian territories). Romania was forced into the war. Romania would have rather joined the war on the side of the Allies but Britain and France were too weak and too geographically distant to provide any real support to Romania, which was stuck between the Germans and the Russians. The Russian Communists were and continue to be an evil force so Romania chose what it saw as the lesser of two evils. The Russian (Red Army) occupation of Eastern Europe was a result of Stalin’s plans to dominate and exploit Eastern Europe (which he did successfully). Russians and specifically Russian communists are single handedly responsible for destroying all of Eastern Europe and making it what it is today, a cesspool of corruption. Russian communists are also responsible for the murders and deaths of more people than any other group in modern history. These tyrannical inclinations continue to this day.

      Currency World just like you said it’s your opinion and I don’t have to agree with it !!!But there is one thing when you’re making a video about banknote collection The last thing I want to hear is about politics!!!!

    • @currencyworld
      @currencyworld  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Denis,
      It’s not politics just history which is integral to understanding the banknotes. I love banknotes and coins because of their history. As for communism and socialism, as someone who lived it, I feel a moral obligation to warn people about a doctrine that persecuted intellectuals, -and destroyed the spirit of more than two generations in Eastern Europe.
