    Just a tip that wasn't mentioned in the video - it's a LOT easier if you use a heat-gun to soften the adhesive beforehand.

    This was definitely the best video for this repair. I was able to make the repair, and more importantly put everything back together properly which most videos don't show. Getting the broken screen off was harder than expected, even after heating to loosen the glue.

    Finally a good video!! I wish i would have saw thus sooner. One quick question. When my ipod broke it was all different colors and had lines all over the lcd and the touch screen also refused to work, now that i replaced it, the touch screen wont work and the picture is clearer but i still have lines on my screen but not as bad as before, any idea on how this was caused?

  • @LuisTorres-jl2ro
    @LuisTorres-jl2ro 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just ordered your tools, I'm hoping I'll sail through the repair smoothly. My screen isn't broken or cracked, it simply has no display whatsoever. The back-light comes on when I hit the home button, but not much else. I called a couple of repair shops, and they made it seem like I would need a new LCD without question. If a cable teared on the inside or detached, I'm not sure, but Apple doesn't want to seem handy. I plan to do it myself to save money, while learning something new and challenging.

    • @LuisTorres-jl2ro
      @LuisTorres-jl2ro 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Thx. Would a Phillips #00 screwdriver work the same as the 1.5x35mm you used to remove the screws? I sort of got the kit without it, and the x40mms are too big.

    • @LuisTorres-jl2ro
      @LuisTorres-jl2ro 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Update: I fixed the iPod! I followed all the steps carefully, and everything works the way it should. I was nervous, but it all worked out in the end. The LCD screen looks as good as the original one, you can't notice a difference. I like how it snapped into place rather than me having to add adhesive. The original screen was hard to lift, and without a heat gun or blow-drier to soften the glue, it can seem almost impossible to remove. Damn apple doesn't want us doing home repairs lol. Anyways, your a life saver, best regards.

    Hello, thanks for this amazing video. I was able to change the screen if my iPod and everything works but I'm stuck on the last step where you clip the screen with the other part of the iPod. I won't stay. The clips become loose. Do I need to glue it down ?

  • @tomkelly8431
    @tomkelly8431 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    should also add that the camera doesn't always pop out of the old screen like it did with in video. its not glued in but the housing it sits in can be tight so with tweezers or something to lever it with a small amount of pressure it will come out. only say this because I've known some people who have got excited about being on a roll with their first screen replacement and stop giving the video the attention they should from start to finish and when it gets to cutting the cables for the screen they've also cut through the camera cable.

    Fixez, I did and follow all of the steps mad for some reason my front facing camera ceased to work. I was uber careful with all wired components. It looks like its perfect so I could only think it shorted somehow or there's a loose connection that is conductive somehow that fell off. Any ideas? Thanks

  • @dclift62
    @dclift62 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    so, I Usually release the docking port area and lift the whole back flex up and over. It's much easier to connect those LCD, Digitizer etc connectors when you can see the whole board from behind. All the ways I have seen demonstrated here are fiddly and don't really show you how tricky connecting them are.
    also, Before re-installing the shield, test the iPod to make sure you have your connections working. test the cameras, the on'off switch and naturally screen and touch. Last thing you want is to have to undo all those screws again for a bad connection.
    Out of all the iPods iPhones and iPads, this is the most fiddly repair to do so don't try if you aren't experienced, send it off to a professional

    Once paypal transfer goes through in planning on buying a replacement screen for an IPod touch 6th gen.. The 5th gen screen will work on the 6th right? Also does it matter if it's black or white? I remember reading somewhere when the iPhone 4 came out with white that they had to make some sort of changes for the front camera.. The iPod touch 6 is factory red with white on the front but I wouldn't mind getting black with my white home button, something different.. Is this possible?

      It's good to check the connections as you confirmed. Attempt connecting the iPod to your PC with iTunes to see if it recognizes it. If it does, possibly have a bad display. You can also confirm this if the original LCD still powers up.

    I dropped my iPod 5 directly onto the ground @ walmart (no joke lol) and now the screen won't slide, it was doing some weird glitchy thing but it goes away. The charging still works, and Siri too. Everything works but the screen. If I were to get it repaired and fixed, would I still have my memory an photos after the fix???!! SOMEONE ANSWER IF THEY KNOW!!! :( how do I know it's damaged on inside?

    it's a good tutorial, though your big thumbs get in the way and you don't show how you pry all the ribbons off. Also, some angles show the opposite side from where you remove some of the ribbons. Thanks for the help you gave , though.

    What types of problems can cause your logic board to stop working? My charger cord had wires exposed and started smoking (really bad) when I plugged it up to my ipod. Now my ipod won't recognize any cord (plugged into either an outlet or my computer). The ipod is dead since it won't charge. When I press the home and the switch button, the red battery "battery dead/charge" sign comes up on the screen. Could I have shorted out the battery or messed up the charging port or something? Please help. Much appreciated.

      ***** Thank you. Do you guys do repairs? I'm looking for someone to repair it because Apple confirmed that it is definitely something wrong inside the device but they say there's no hope. Does taking apart the ipod damage data inside? Is it just as fully functioning as before it was taken apart? I was told by a technician that taking apart a 5th gen ipod touch completely damages it (because it is so thin). I really just need to get my photos off so I don't need it to be on too long, just long enough to back up the data. But if I could get it to work like new, that'd be great too. Thanks in advance.

      OK just wondering. Because the video shows you completely taking apart the phone and even taking out the battery (which I also need a replacement of). But thanks anyways.

      Not sure. I ordered my new screen along with some replacement adhesive strips so I guess I need to replace some that are in the iPod. Not quite sure though.

      +MARVIN90ist We see what you are referring to, however we did completely install the screen to the frame. You do want to be careful though when sitting the unit into the frame to not cause any damages.

    My ipod screen just went black, there is no cracks or signs of damage. I tried holding the home button and power button down at the same time and plugged it in to the computer and repeated. Is there something wrong with the motherboard or battery etc?? Before it stopped working I dropped it but there didn't appear to be any signs of damage. Please help!

    I just replaced the display assembly and digitizer but now there is no touch effect, and after a few seconds the screen is full of colored vertical lines. Can you tell me what went wrong? I followed every step to the "T".

    • @Fixez
      @Fixez  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +M. A. Jimenez You would want to start by ensuring your flex cable is properly seated. Sounds like this is the issue here and if it continues, it's possible you have a bad part.

    • @migueljimenez7895
      @migueljimenez7895 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your response. I have a feeling something like that would be wrong. Which would be the flex cable?

    • @migueljimenez7895
      @migueljimenez7895 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +M. A. Jimenez Let me rephrase that; which flex cable you think could be the culprit?

    • @Fixez
      @Fixez  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your screen assembly has two flex cables, just kindly ensure both are seated properly to the logic board.

    • @migueljimenez7895
      @migueljimenez7895 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your response, I've opened the Ipod again and made sure all the connections were properly seated and that there were no kinks anywhere, closed it and restarted it but it still does the same thing, so at this point I am more convinced that they sent me a defective part. Thank you anyway for all your help.
