  • In this video, I am showcasing some pre-release gameplay and footage of an upcoming table called Pacific Rim Pinball on Pinball FX. This table will release on May 16, 2024 on Steam and select consoles.
    Pacific Rim Pinball is based on the 2013 movie called Pacific Rim directed by Guillermo del Toro about a war that raging between humanity and the kaiju. The Kaiju are colossal sea monsters that have emerged from an interdimensional portal at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. Humanity then develops humanoid mechas to combat the Kaiju which is where the focus of the film begins.

    One of my favorite movies! Happy to see it make its’ way into Pinball FX. The Knight Rider table is pretty dope too with some awesome music.

      Haha I'm ashamed to admit this, but I have never seen the movie and I only heard about it once this table came out. That being said, I do plan on watching the movie and even doing a Pinball & A Movie feature on it!
      Did you see the sequel to Pacific Rim? Glad you're enjoying the new tables so far, Leon!

      @@NewLeaf88 No, I have not seen the sequel. But I do own, and read, the novelization of the first movie.

      Yes! I actually really liked this table tbh. Even though I've never seen the movie, those pop bumper sounds were *chefs kiss* perfect! Also the water sounds and special effects are pretty neat on this table too!

      You gotta let me know which tables you found the most enjoyable after they release! Curious to know others opinion on them.

    "Everybody knows about the curse of the EB"??? No way!? I always though that was just me!!!! Not joking! I always drain after getting an Extra Ball!! Its weird. I always called it the Extra Ball Curse but i didnt know it was a common thing.

      Haha I thought I was the only one who knew about it! It seems like a lot of people who earn an EB almost ALWAYS drain it right after. It's such a weird phenomena in pinball I gotta say!

    Surprised you've never heard about this one. Cheesy movie but its supposed to be and its a bunch of fun. They only made 2 movies but the second didn't have Guillermo and didn't do so well, seems like the series has kind of petered out because of that. You did good on the pronunciations.
    That plunger is pretty rad. Love the way the ball goes into the water. The Jaegar shooting the ball is pretty cool too. Other than that, nothing really screams out at me. Table design seems fairly simplistic but its always good to have a mix as some of the others were a lot more complex.

      Yeah when I heard about this table, I had no idea about the movies or even the video game based on Pacific Rim. It looks like the movie was made well with a lot of special effects even for 2013 which seems like eons ago lol. From what I saw in the trailer, I thought the movie was trying to be a relatively "serious" action flick. Did it just come out as cheesy or was it actually supposed to be? Just asking because I've never seen it but the trailer tries to make it look relatively serious lol, kind of like a Godzilla or Kong movie type. I'd love give it a watch though because the synopsis did intrigue me ngl! Plus I'd love to see how those different Kaiju look like, they looked really rad like monster sharks or something.
      Yep nothing too out of the ordinary on this one at least compared to the other releases in the bunch. Almost looks too minimal in some ways. But even the design in some ways looks like some of the Godzilla vs Kong tables they released earlier.

      @@NewLeaf88 The movie was cheesy in good way. It treated itself seriously but the plot was incredibly ludicrous and some of the writing was a little hokey. It knew it was a ridiculous film and that's what made it fun. It didn't shove corny jokes and one-liners down your throat every 10 seconds like a marvel film would and I found that really refreshing.

      I think I get what you mean actually especially when you talk about Marvel movies with their one-liners lol. I feel like with marvel movies, if you've seen one, you've seen the others as well because they are so familiar and written the same way which is why I don't bother watching them lol.
      I would love to watch this movie and then revisit this table with a Pinball & A Movie feature honestly. The kaiju in the movie look really monstery lol.

      @@NewLeaf88 All the movies are a blurry mess. They're basically written by the same crew and then given to various filmmakers and they all have to adhere to very strict guidelines. They want each movie to feel like another episode in a tv show so they can't really bring their own vision in or do anything unique with them. Definitely a if you've seen one, you've seen em all situation.

    • @NewLeaf88
      @NewLeaf88  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That makes a lot of sense actually. It seems though even with those strict guidelines and limitations, that Marvel movies are still popular for some reason. I feel like they are still "good" movies but I'll always wonder what they would be like if they had more freedom to go their own direction. Thank you for explaining that though, I just don't see why they'd want to make the movies similar to a TV show -- in my opinion, movies and TV shows should be done differently and in a large part are very different from each other in many ways.

    Is this for pinball fx3 ? As I was left with the impression that pinball fx1 is too old and not supported anymore .

    • @NewLeaf88
      @NewLeaf88  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This table specifically is only available on Pinball FX. Actually, a lot of the newer tables being released are this way because Pinball FX is using a newer engine (Unreal Engine 5) and is technically the "newest" Pinball FX, but they just dropped the number iteration to make it look clean.
      I don't think Pinball FX3 will be receiving anymore tables, but I could be wrong.

      @@NewLeaf88 Oh man, I totally forgot that they removed the number! I was thinking in the original pinball fx and was like what the 😅 Since i play pinball fx3 and M i truly forgot about the ue5 version. Honestly , their marketing is really confusing .
