I am an actor and content creator with Hollywood credits including roles on Lucifer (Netflix), Starlight Christmas (Hallmark), JT Leroy (Universal Studios), etc. In this channel, I offer insight to Kpop performances using my 10+ years of training in dance, acting, singing and overall performance. In dance, my forte are contemporary and musicals and have done most of my performances in theatre. Although my channel is mostly known for dance analysis, I am currently inactive in the dance community.

I saw Ten live with Super M. Here is the deal, I came for Taemin and, despite the huge talent and charisma on that stage, I could not take my eyes off of Lee Taemin. Then, Ten did his duet with Taeyong and his own solo work. When he was alone on the stage doing his solos he seemed to magically turn a huge arena into an intimate space. Time stood still. The crowd went silent. We were all sharing in a spiritual moment. Ten does not dance from ego or maybe even his heart -- he dances from a deep place in his soul. It was simply beautiful. At the end of the concert, an older woman sitting next to me (yes, Super M attracted black and white, old and young ) said, ¨What a terrific bunch of performers! However, there were two actual artists on stage -- Taemin & Ten.¨ Pretty much sums it up.
The dance practice choreography is different then what you see in Ten's "New Heros" MV because in the MV his dancing is freestyle and in the dance practice it has been choreographed to use some of his original freestyle movements and adds in backup dancers and some choreographed elements. The dance practice is what he performed/performs at music shows and in concert. But the MV is all just Ten feeling the music and interpreting the song with his body. :D
And that is why he is known as NCT's solo artist. Because Ten solo is where he truly gets a chance to shine.
P.S. You don't need subtitles because"New Heros" is completely in English. Ten is fluent in English because he attended an international school growing up that was run by a British education system, so in school he spoke English most of the time. That is why you will see that the majority of Ten's solo songs and projects are in English.

ten actually does this cute thing where he releases solos every april 6 (because april is the 4th month and if u add 4 to 6 its 10) but he didn’t release another one this april 6th because of wayv and super m :(( i was rlly excited that day but at least he didnt have so much work if he did make another solo
also i really love his solos because it rlly showcases his vocals since people know him just for his dancing and his voice is so pretty and a bit western and i love it so much. also, in the mv he was free styling! which is why the choreo didn’t appear in the dance practice

you can check out his superm tour stages when he performed it! people were CRYING and stunned by how camera doesn't do him justice really and how he's even more magical irl, he also changed a bit in the choreo and it was awesome with the lights and outfit and everything he even was walking while dancing since the stage is big and it looked effortless. ugh so ethereal😭😭 will never forget how i lost my mind
I've heard a lot of people saying that when he performs literally feels magical. I watched a fancam and i totally fell in love with the new choreo, i did liked the other one, don't get me wrong, but that ver is literally perfect 🥺♥️
@@holliepao i can hear people gasping and crying in every fancam, and after every concert he's collecting new fans and i see ton of people complement him and how he felt unreal and just something out of this world. sadly I've only watched the fancams :( I'd sell my organs to see him live he's literally a dream. and yes the new choreo was !!!! !!

Fun fact on the New Heroes choreography, Ten co-choreographed it with Prepix's Ill and as for the MV, it was completely freestyle. I don't really know dancing that much so I always describe Ten's dancing in comparison to how good singers sing. Ten has that gift of bringing life to a song by dancing to it, he can really send the message of the song to the audience through his dancing. Not to mention, he also has a beautiful tone for vocals! Really though, what can he not do? He's so hardworking and amazing!
i feel like so many people underestimate ten as a vocalist i know its because hes known to be a good dancer but hes also wayvs main singer and theres a reason for that. he is a very strong vocalist too

he is not wayv's main singer, that is xiaojun and i would say kun is better vocally. ten does okay for not havin much experience, he didnt start out as a singer but he still struggles live sometimes
@@ed208 this is literally what im saying when i say people dont focus on his vocals... his positions r literally main dancer and main vocalist and theres a reason for that. xiaojun is one of the main vocalists too im not sure about kun.

I'm really happy because he has a lot of lines in WayV, but I'm really sad because he has nearly 0 lines in SuperM (and I think is more known worldwide than WayV).
Until I listened to his solo songs, I didn't know how he truly sounded like. That's freaking sad. SM, give this guy what he deserves please :(
Ten's live performances of New Heroes and Dream in a Dream during the SuperM tour were just GORGEOUS! Even people who didn't stan Nct/WayV before SuperM said that his stages were so captivating. I highly recommend you watch a fancam even if it's not a reaction and just in your free time :)
I really like to watch Ten dance because he's so light on his feet, like how can he make the choreo look so easy and smooth as if he's just as light as feather? How
Look up the videos of him dancing as an 8 year old -- beyond bad. Then find his videos as a teenager, promising but nothing special. Ten amazes me because there was no signs of raw talent. He is all the more impressive for having transformed himself into a true artist. I think that his goals changed. He seemed to be chasing fame at first and then discovered self-expression and higher ideals. At least that is how I explain his remarkable evolution!
@@daysjours what a weird backhanded compliment, you can't possibly be talking about his "dance for girls" video, lol in any case he definitely has some natural talent in him, at the very least he is one of the few i think is truly attuned to his body and what works and what doesn't work and when you compare him to say some other dancers who only started learning once they got to SM, there is a difference. Also who are you to say he was chasing fame, this is such a weird comment. ten is also one of the few who doesn't look completely clueless freestyling
Not a backhanded compliment in the least! 1/ had he been some amazing little prodigy then who he is today would not be nearly as impressive. You can find a whole ton of videos of him young, that tape you mentioned, and in dance classes as a young teen, and TV shows. He showed no particular talent or artistry. Also he himself spoke of a search for fame and popularity -- and Taemin mentioned it too in why he admired Ten so much for seeing the emptiness of the industry and focusing instead on artistry. 2/ I may have expressed myself poorly so you misunderstood. I think Ten will forever be an artist in search of self-expression and artistic view even when he is no longer in K Pop. He is singular.
@@daysjours i guess we are going to have to agree to disagree on some aspects because i think ten is a combination of talent and hardwork, he definitely has some innate dancing ability, i just dont think it was created purely becaus of hard work. i certainly dont believe he was a dancing prodigy but imo very few in kpop are, if at all, most of them learn when they get to the company. would be curious to know when he said he was chasing fame though?
@@icedevil0289 I think we are going to have to agree to agree!! I think you are absolutely right that he has to have god given gifts that he was able to discover and develop due to hard work. Look up his old videos and you will find him talking about wanting to get into the entertainment industry. Taemin´s statement was fairly recent and was probably a print interview while doing press junkets.

That's the sad thing when in large groups or even just groups in general. The group songs and performances will not showcase all that a member has to offer and if they never get a chance at solo performing, people will underestimate or not see their potential. I'm glad Ten has gotten to do work like this and Hit The Stage.

Top Best vocals, one of the top best 5 dancers in whole k-pop. His fans call him an art . Do you know he tries to show emotions through his body? Then he draws those emotions and form dance? Once he drew a moving body with an eye piping out and then when asked why he said because that's how I felt on the stage while dancing. He thinks in a creative way and sees the world from diff point of view. Everything he does has a deep and beautiful meaning to it. He knows five languages and can speak them well. He's inspiring. He always says to his fans "Be real, be you". He's socially well aware and says clothes shouldn't be necessarily gender biased. Every person who meets him compliments him because God this guy right there is too talented. He's very emotional too. There's a reason why I stan this beautiful person. yessss i loved this song so much, and considering the meaning behind it (before this release he was on a long, LONG hiatus) it was that much more impactful. fun facts: the mv is completely freestyled, this choreography version is used for performances and stuff but its also different from the version he performed in the superm concerts LMAO

There are always those lulls in choreo where they're just like gracefully walking around and your attention can lag a bit, but Ten just keeps you sucked in the entire time even when he's just standing there waving his hand. I can't look away. And I love his solo songs so much. He did a song for Ginjo with Xiaojun called The Riot that is great too, worth a listen.
TEN almost never did his solo dance in a group song the same way, I always find something new in his performances. The same like in his solo dance practices, there's always some changes n I fascinated by them. He's a free soul..so artistic n charismatic. Love him so much.... Thank's a lot, Jeff...

Ten is the type of person that loves to learn and grow as an artist. Also the mv was freestyle let that sink in. Ten was a gymnast and did ballet when he was younger along with alot of hip hop I believe. Ten is always learning new genres tho he's amazing. He's also pretty damn flexible it's insane lol. Ten is a true artist.

Ten is my favorite dancer in the whole kpop. Since I saw him dancing for the first time, I often have the impression that the movements of other idols, even if they dance really well, were missing something.
The way Ten moves while dancing ... I can't even describe it.

"His performance is always a 10 out of 10"...so Mark told us. Dunno if that's where it really came from or if Mark just made that up but he was after all a gymnast. Reminds me so much of the 2 gymnasts I went to school with...no bones!!! They can do cartwheels across the gym in SLOW MOTION like it's nothing.
Diggin his vocals too...I noticed 1st time in the SuperM performance teaser. I was like "WOA! Where did those jazzy vocals come from? Cuz it's SURE not Kpop!" Like water...can be "immersive" or can carry you (like riding a wave)...or smack you head on & sweep you off your feet. I would put Ten's in the second category. I could "ride" those vocals anywhere!

Ten is the only dancer that gives me nearly the same feeling of breathlessness and awe that I get from watching Taemin dance. I never thought that something like that would happen. He really a force to be reckoned with.

but I love everything because his details move always right on the beat🤩
Some of Ten's choreo may be hard to replicate because he has very flexible shoulders. He can do that thing where you clasp your hands in front or behind you and move them to the other side without letting go. So, yeah, double-jointed. He demo'd it in teh Vlive where NCT introduced their 2018 project (Leetuck MC''d). It explains a lot.

In my opinion, Ten is the only dancer that can give affect to me through his dance. I dunno why. I'm not saying other dancers not good bc I know there's a lot of great dancers but Ten is just something else for me. I never really pay attention to the dance when I watch kpop cause I think its just a dance. But watching Ten, I felt kinda amaze towards his dance that I never felt towards others. And sometimes I can feel the emotions through his dance especially in lovely. That cover is the most beautiful one.

Ohhh, you're finally reacting to this! I like this song so much. I'd say that choreo wise I like Dream in a Dream more, but song wise - definitely New Heroes. Completely agree with you on the body lines aspect. His moves are always captivating to watch. Once again I'll say that I'm amazed by the combination of fluid grace packed with almost aggression. It has an awesome effect when seeing it, at least it is for me. Also, his style in the MV looks so good on him. This silver shirt, with silver hair....My bias rocks!

The others can as well, it's just these has the most prominent points..
Like I can see Johnny as a DJ, similar to Hyo.
Taeil could have an opera or musical
I can see NoMin as a subsub unit...or a Duo.
Ten is one of the Best Danser in Kpop with Taemin & Kai who're in the same agency (of course with others kpop artist are really good) like "Ateez" in general but San for me is really amazing for someone who didn't know how to danse at first . if you can please react more of Ten & Taemin too
