This was so very helpful. You are a wonderful teacher.... well used to be. I see this was done in 2017, so you're probably too old to see the screen by now. LOLOL! I am a grandfather who started out with Photoshop when it first came out of California. From the clunky, freeze on the screen, no operating manual frustration that it used to be, I am astounded by its incredible features today. I appreciate people like you who show us the (new) way. Again, thank you.
Thanks! I'm a 3D professional, but haven't ever played with the 3D tools in Photoshop. This allows some quick and dirty 3D graphics without having to launch the big programs.
Your videos are a blessing to all of us graphic designers! Thank you so much. Next pay check, I will buy your Photoshop course and definitely support this channel as much as I can in the future. 🙏👏
So well explained. You've answered at all my questions that came up in my mind during the tutorial, exactly at the right time. It would be nice to update it for the newest version. Some of the features differ and is confusing.
Hi, Thanks for this tutorial. I'm a novice at 3d and it helped me get started. Only question I have so far is how did you show the default view vidget? I can't seem to find this tool widget anywhere.
8:24 what is that middle white square area which seems like a part of the whole 3D world. Only this area gets rendered and I can't find how it is called or how to change its size. Please help.
Excellent presentation. I'm importing a 3D object to paint but could not figure out the controls. For once I didn't have to speed up the video - you talk fast but very clearly and that's a blessing for tutorials.
Terrific tut, ND - and no, you weren't "all over the place" for me; you seemed to answer my questions just as I was about to ask them. Thanks a gazillion. Roger
The thing i learned here vs other videos i have seen: 1) Rendering settings for 3D 2)3D Postcard info 3)The whole moving the object vs scene details. I would get lost all the time trying to figure out how to move one thing vs the other. 4) Took a note of the "x rotation axis at zero" for the object as well and using the xyz coordinates instead.
Well, I'm opening a PNG in Photoshop 3D, giving it a very small extrude, rendering and trying to export the OBJ. The OBJ (no options) just shows a gray outline of the person, no color no details. The OBJ is not picking up the image details, like if I turned off infinite light and the image turned gray on oujtput. Any thoughts?
I have this issue when I make a 3D , there is a image in the center after I render the 3D image how can I remove the image in the center it’s I. The way of me having a final
Haha I thought I had an okay grasp of using 3D for basic stuff in photoshop from just playing around with it and I didn't even know it had presets! Thank you for this video tutvid always great.
Hallo, I have a problem, when I'm selecting the 3d extrusion of the selected path my photoshop is creating the 3d form not of the path but cutting out the path. Could you tell me how to change it? thanks for your help
do i have to work all on 1 layer? because for example, i have 3 donuts and if i rotate the view, it just rotate just arround one donut and not all 3...
why after render my background still white and when i apply colour colour balance, the colour of the entire background does not change. It only changes behind the text. How do i change it for the entire background ?
LOVE the tut!! Only problem is, I'm wracking my brains trying to figure out why I don't have the little widget in the lower left like you do! :'( I can't find where it would be!!!!!!
Hi there! Sweet tutorial, for some reason I don't have the "diffuse" or other options in my 3D properties panel. Could you please guide on me onto the right track? Thanks!
question...I'm having a tough time here because I remember the 3D workspace and I don't know how to get back to it. Everytime I extrude something I have to use the properties panel to adjust. I went to Window > 3D > Reset workspace and everything but I don't have the on-object controls visible...anyone?
Great as always. Can you do a tutorial on 'alt-j - In Cold Blood' type of animation in after effects or atleast a tutorial on it's thumbnail style in Photoshop please?
no matter what i try, when i select grey bg and 3d text and i click on align left edges i get an error from photoshop. everything else works besides that
Hey there, thanks very very much for the tutorial! It's really helpful and much appreciated that you'd put up such an informative thing for free. I was wondering if once you've made the extrusion from the text layer that there was an easy way to change the original text while still maintaining the properties (i.e. color)? I'm in a project where I'm doing each letter separately and was thinking I would just duplicate each letter and then change it, but that more or less resets all the properties (color, rotation, etc.). Is there a way to do that or otherwise copy the 3D properties like you can with the Layer Style? Thanks again for this video, it's very well done.
Every time I create a new layer to add texture to my model, it flattens to a 2d file, it only started doing it recently, even if I reload the 3d file or try with other 3d objects, does anyone know why it's doing this?
Thank you so much its has really helped me understand where i was going wrong. But i am having a problem with creating some items it super mario characters, cartoon characters like 60s characters can you help me make it look real? Pls i am so sorry please help me
Bro, ignore all these dumbass trolls saying you talk to long, absolutely wrong, the intro was really good as a first time watcher and the way to conveyed about liking and subscribing was one of the least harrasing and friendly method I've seen. Will definetly check out more videos.
I can't even get my 3d tools to show up. I had to go into my photoshop prefs and turn on some open GL stuff but even then it doesn't work. This tut isn't helpul, unfortunately.
My puter meets all requirements, and I can create all the basic shapes, but I don't see the ground plane. Why? Did I turn it off? If so, how do I turn it back on? There is no sense in me going any further with this. I can't see the ground plane. Therefore I cannot tell where the object lies in space. I need to turn this on. Tell me how. Another problem: Create a light. Can't do that. ONce created, I cannot grab it's handle and point it where I want it to. Now my specs: Video card: geforce 650 ti w 1 gb ram System ram: 16 Gb Processor: AMD 6300 six core that gets all the 2d stuff done! Where is the list of processors that are supported? NOT FOUND is what I get when I google search 'processors supported for photoshop cc 3D' Then there are stupid videos instead of written text. Text is much easier to follow, but making videos is much easier for those who know how to do things. They take the easy way out and make it harder for people to learn. they also waste time about their courses. I have no money for courses, and I want text, not video. Last night, I successfully made a bullet shape. Wow! Then the ground plane doesn't show. The light cannnot be grabbed to see it and point it. Why? I rotated the bullet until it was unrecognizable. I even squashed it somehow, but I didn't want that. EVERYBODY ALREADY KNOWS HOW TO MAKE TEXT into 3D. And the perspective is not correct. How do I change my camera's lens focal length? I textured the bullet with a material. It didn't show. Why? I rendered it. It still didn't show. What is wrong here? There are videos from 3rd parties on 3D. Where are the tutorials from Adobe on 3D? Do you work for them? Do they pay you? I doubt it, so why are you helping them escape thier responsibility? This is nuts. Just plain nuts! There are videos of how to do things in PS CS6. These do not apply. But few are available for 3d in CC. Adobe has not provided many. At least, I cannot find them, and again, they make videos instead of step by step text tutorials. I don't want a donut. I want to know how to light my bullet. I want to see the ground plain. How do I turn this on? I want to see the light and grab it and see the shadows. How do I get this to work. I have it selected in the list. Now how do I view it. It seems to be turned off. The lighting is flat, and not directional. WTF do I do here?
I can't even get started because every time I turn my layer to 3d my canvas does not turn to a 3d dimension it just normal white canvas. so, I got stuck at latterly my first step and my Mac does have the capabilities to run 3-D

Haha I thought I had an okay grasp of using 3D for basic stuff in photoshop from just playing around with it and I didn't even know it had presets! Thank you for this video tutvid always great.

To make a long story short; directly jump to 12:12

Thanks for the introduction... could have been less rambling an repeating stuff, but helped nonetheless
To lose the shadows on the extrusion, you can just click on the 3D object in the 3D panel and unclick "catch shadows".
How the hell you got that "grid" ?? im unable to find how to view/active it :(
Need more of those illustrator videos :P
Every time I create a new layer to add texture to my model, it flattens to a 2d file, it only started doing it recently, even if I reload the 3d file or try with other 3d objects, does anyone know why it's doing this?
I don't have any mesh presets all greyed out????

Can you say how many viwers search for photoshop tutorials daily?
My position relative to the donut is usually very, very, very close.
I can't even get my 3d tools to show up. I had to go into my photoshop prefs and turn on some open GL stuff but even then it doesn't work. This tut isn't helpul, unfortunately.

Not a donut. Maybe it's a bagel.
I'm so stupid all my life i created 3d stuff and never rendered them i directly saved them as jpeg 🤣😂
Good info, but you talk too much... it´s too long
Thanks for the kind words! No thanks for saying I talk too much, though 😂
dang this video is serious
the video could easily have been presented in less than 10 minutes with the same information and content
You keep talking but u are talking about the 10 steps
you're loosing weight bro! looking good, uht umm! in a bro kind of way! lol! or is it a new skinny filter? hahah!
U talk toooo much dont mind but its a fact
It is a tutorial you moron. He is supposed to talk.
You obviously know your stuff but do you have to drown us in chat before you get to conveying how to do it?
I'm always working on speeding up my intros and just get to the point. Thanks for the critique!
