    What species of "minnows" did you get, or does the term "minnow" mean a variety? If you stocked only one species (predominantly), I would suggest you stock a wide variety of "minnow" species. Specifically looking to maximize food for the different zones (top to bottom) in your lake and to eventually provide a spectrum of "full grown" - "minnow" variations. Best of luck, look forward to watching it fill with water and life!

    You should put a ton of small blue gill in there as well so they can grow and spawn with the minnows so when you do finally put the bass in there will be plenty of different bait in there. Don't add big bass to soon or they will destroy the minnow population before they have time to reproduce. Awesome video.

    When ordering chicks through the mail, get them as soon as possible from post office because most hatcherys ship chicks out the day of hatching. For the meat birds they make a chick starter specifically for them that will help them make more meat but grow healthy, it’s called Kalmbach 22% start to finish meat bird starter.

    I think Ralph is very happy. That jumping and hoping he was doing was just him being happy that he was in fresh grass (juvenile camels do that when playing and to show excitement (also known as the zoomies)). I also believe he has bonded with a few people there, flair for sure, pool jet, most (if not all) of the farm hands and family members and definitely (this goes for most of the animals too) banjo.

    Pick the chickens up at the mail office faster. Get them as quick as you can. This time of year it's the heat that kills them when they get sent through the mail. They have sack that they have after they hatch that sustains them for a few days. That's how come they are able to send them through the mail right after they hatch. By the way the meat chickens will look like milk toast when they go out on pasture. Kinda patchy but that's pretty normal.

  • @scrotchrocket6054
    @scrotchrocket6054 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I would do exactly like you plan but give time in between for each species to breed at least once before you add the next larger predator . The pan fish wont or shouldn't wipe out the minnows but bass and a lot of others don't just eat when they are hungry , and could pretty easily wipe out the panfish if there isn't large ones or a lot of them... You could also net off the upper end where a feed is with a net just big enough for minnows and fry to get thru but nothing bigger than a minnow and stock that portion with your minnows and they can pass thru to the main lake whenever and have a safe(er) place to breed. Would still have to keep watch for the rickys and fish jumping over if the net isn't above the water enough

    Some tips from someone with a bit of experience in fishing biology.
    If you want to catch lots of big fish you got to work your way up.
    1. Get some structure and vegetation to provide shelter and feeding grounds for your baitfish. Maybe get plants from in or around an older lake, to bring in insects as food for bait.
    2. Different types of bait fish might do better overall because they might use different areas to feed (bottom, middle, top) the way their mouth is pointing tells you where they feed.
    3. Different types of predator fish will hunt in different areas too, therefore different bait fish, and also less rivalry overall, meaning more food to let them grow into fat logs
    This way you will get a nice natural and healthy lake with a lot of variety.
    Hope this helps!

  • @loganschannel1
    @loganschannel1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You should stock F1 Florida bass, they grow much faster than regular largemouth and they are bred for aggression. We have to them in our pond and a year after being stocked they weighed on average 8 pounds!

  • @brodiecouch
    @brodiecouch 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Flair, I work for a chicken producer and the main problem with the chicks is that you receive them as one day olds unlike in the stores, which means the ones that aren’t strong will 100% pass within 3-4 days when their yolk sac runs out of nutrients… if you want you could verify this by feeling of the crop to see if they have ate anything, if not then yeah they just ran out of yolk sac and died

    To help put the posts in get yourself a stick about “1.5” wide and however long you’d like and then slowly put the dirt back in the hole and pack the dirt with the stick.

    To make the post more sturdy when putting it in the ground, you can pack the new dirt while installing it in the hole. Love the vids tho❤️
