    Seems great, I love the posibilities this since before using it, and don't want to seems too picky, but is it planned to have support for Devils sight, or similar abilities, that can see trough darkness but are not true seeing (wich i saw present in the video)

  • @theolddm
    @theolddm 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is good stuff. A quick question: For the individual lights, does the flicker affect only the source itself, or will it cause the 'light radius' to flicker as well? I wasn't seeing the flicker very well in this video, so I was just wondering how visually impacting the flicker really is?
    I'm thinking of a campfire in the woods at night... the light can bright and dim pretty dramatically, so I'm hoping this can produce a similar effect and not just be a static circle of light that fades out.

    • @FantasyGrounds
      @FantasyGrounds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question: would it cause issue to put a clean-coloured torch at the entrance to buildings and structures, so ambient sunlight spills into, for example, that shack, when the door is opened?

    • @FantasyGrounds
      @FantasyGrounds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Potentially, but whether or not you wanted to do that would also depend on the direction of the sun. If the building is backlit, then it would be in shadow still.

    • @Shannovian
      @Shannovian 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FantasyGrounds Do players have limited visiblity in the dark? Like if I open the shed, would I be able to see shadowed interiors up to 5 or 10 feet? Because, I take your point, but light bounces off walls and even if the light isn't directly pointed in that direction (however, yes, you're absolutely right about that in relation to my point). If I open a shed, even in the dark, I can generally see a rough outline of things in my immediate area. Yes, I wouldn't want that to be the case for inside caves. But surely is for areas directly adjacent to direct sunlight.
      I'm not being critical; this look fantastic. I'm just doing the mental gymnastics to figure out how it will work in practical application for buildings that might have windows or cracks in the wall that would let ambient light in without having it look like it's exposed to direct sunlight.

    • @FantasyGrounds
      @FantasyGrounds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Shannovian players don't have any visibility in the dark without darkvision. If you have a map where it would not be totally dark, you could set an ambient light that is very low and then use an effect to cap the max distance players could see. That might work for your needs.

      @@FantasyGrounds Neat idea, thanks.

    • @RediculouslyUnder
      @RediculouslyUnder 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tested this myself, but it stands to reason that one could achieve the same effect by using a 'darkness' light (or several small ones) inside of a 'shaded' area (such as inside the cabin). One would presumably also have control over the translucency of the light (in the Alpha value of the 'color' setting) to control how light or dark it would be in the shaded area.

    • @DougDavison

    • @DougDavison
      @DougDavison 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can go into your Settings and switch to the TEST channel on the Advanced Tab. Your players need to be in TEST as well. Please note that the current build has some significant performance issues we are working out. TEST also uses a different data format than LIVE, so you won't be able to move a campaign from TEST to LIVE if you switch back. I would recommend starting a brand new test campaign in the TEST branch so that you don't affect your actual LIVE campaigns. Once it leaves TEST and goes into full production on our LIVE channel, you will be able to use your old LIVE campaigns without issue.
