oh yes, you can eat your dasheen and just use the skin, that way you don't have to waste your dasheen
it also goes well with meat soups, the fresh leaves & stalks you can cook with ginger, onion, garlics, fried fish & coconut milk, or dry the leaves cook it the same way or even pack it in air tight containers for future use. that is how it is usually done in Asia.
thank you, I learned a lot from you!

Chef Muskan Kitchen, thank you
Yes we liked your video. We have a tropical landscape it NC that got out of control with weeds so we are resetting
about 900 canna lillies. The day lillies and tiger lillies shaded out the weeds so fortunately they stay as is. We
had elephant ears but they picked up their dirt and ran away one night. Being that they were $35 each it would
be expensive to replace. Switching to grocery store Taro at $1 for two tubers. They are small so we will likely
root the tuber as one piece but your video is great info if the asian market stocks large Taro roots. The elephant
ears made a large yellow flower which we may miss but the price is right on the Taro. We add a SMALL amount
of peroxide when rooting in water like 2 oz/ gallon which seems to help.
CONCRETE HOUSE BUILDING, thank you
Lovely that you have a lovely tropical paradise
Growing our own food is so rewarding and more nutritious than any store brought

Very easy way to get new dasheen plants
Hi I just came across your Chanel and wanted to say thank you. I am in the UK and also grow food in my backyard. I have a few questions? Did you manage to harvest any dasheen that year and what growing conditions did you have? Full sun, partial sun full shade? And was it grown in boggy conditions like in the Caribbean?

The growing season was too short
But I did get harvest the following year
It was full sun, nit the same condition like the tropical, and I try to water consistency

What are your thought on buying taro plant from the nursery to propagate from and eat?
MC Chamblin, depends on where you live
As here in UK, you won't find the edible ones on sale
They will sell us the 'elephant ears' flowers
So if you're living in a warm area, I guess you can chance it and get the nice edible ones to eat
Or better yet, if you're living in warm area, find a local gardener that has it and get a shoot/bulb off them
@@AAHomeGardening I am in zone 6 in us. I may have to do some hunting. I can find it as an ornamental but not for eating.
💚
Miscellaneous Michelle, 👍
Would you please tell me, how often do you change the water? I just left mine in the same water and the flesh parts seem to be rotting away, but it's very hot weather. Should I change the water daily? Or maybe should the peelings be dried off for a couple of days before soaking? Thank you.
Marj H, it's best to peel it thick
I change water like every three days
Peelings don't need to dry out
Seeing it's hot where you are you can change every other day
@@AAHomeGardening Thanks so much for your fast reply with the answer - it's appreciated, I'll try another batch peeled thicker & change the water daily.

Easy way to grow organic food at home
Jodhan Beshaan, easy and fun indeed
Can I grow taro from the shop without any roots and top?
nardina estrella, yes you can
Just use the peeling from the dasheen, it will root as well
Hello.I put the skin in water but it's not sprouting. Its been in the water now for about 6 days. Its just getting rotten.
Have to change the water like ever three days
As it gets stinks
Next time, peel a little deeper, which will help as well
Mine l have soaked into water for two weeks, but the water is starting to change colour. Is this normal. You mentioned the roots start developing for about 4-5 weeks? Should l hold on?
Change water like twice a week
Yes, wait and see what will happen
The tops will root faster than the cuttings
