Actually, this update is more like a filler update to chill after 3 whole updates of new expansions and major stories to let people catch up with the game.
Okay just to be clear, when I said a filler update. What I mean is that it is an update where there is not a lot of permanent content..Yes, this update has a major story event which is the Fontinalia Film Festival but the content itself is not permanent..People like Luke will not experience this event if they did not play this event in the duration

The Spina De Rosa is Navia's organization, in the 1800s this is based on, had private detectives / police agencies like the Pinkertons really straddled the line between detectives and security and being actual street gangs and mafia. So they are generally there to help people out and keep the peace in a neighborhood, but arent afraid to skirt the law and knock some sense into people to get the job done.

what's being added (mainly):
- 2 new characters (navia & chevreuse)
- 1 new character story quest (navia)
- 1 new bigger event (the film festival which the trailer shows) and a bunch of smaller events. This is normal for every patch.
- A few quality of life improvements
I think that's it. Yeah, not as much as in the previous patches. It's normal that there are some less exciting patches in between the bigger ones.
They add a new big region (like fontaine) in 5.0. which will probably be in like... 8-9 months i think? In between they'll probably release 1-2 smaller subregions.
After 4.3 we have:
New lantern rite+ skins + sub region connecting liyue and fontaine
New dainsleif quest + clorinde quest
Act 2 of either neuvillette or furina quest + new fontaine region
Arleccino's quest + new region (maybe port norman)
Summer event + skins and limited time map
Hmm... I think it should be more than 2 subregions. From what we know (without leaks) the next Version is Lantern Rite and will probably include the new Liyue area - Chenyu Vale. There's also at least one Fontaine area, where the rest of Hydroculi and Hydro sigils will be. And, last but not least, Dornman Port for Mondstadt and/or the Sumeru Port

The current banners are Kamisato Ayaka and Navia. They add a new region over a year bit by bit. Next region will be Natlan(Pyro) in summer 2024. Also: It should have been me.

I got her and my alt account but I want to get Raiden so I have to skip her current banner
they add a region, and then gradually expand it over the course of the next few patches, then they usually have an interlude chapter of some sort, and then Summer Event that teases the upcoming region, and then we get the new region.
Navia is a one shot Nuke character she's so versatile I am glad I pulled for her and she's not even fully built and she already became highest hitting character on my account

Roses and Muskets was a TON of fun - a bunch of unique minigames were added, all of which were simple to grasp and fun to play, And the story was great as well - and since Ayaka is my girl, anytime she's in the story I'm immediately interested.
Haven't quite grasped how to utilize Navia best yet, but the little I have played with her, she's fun... but since I have her paired with Furina she's really squishy for me.
On the query of what was added with this patch, it is more of an 'Event' patch - focused on that Fontaine Film Festival, as the main story arc for Fontaine wrapped up in the prior patch.
If you don't think you'll get to doing the event, it is probably worth watching the 'The Two Musketeers' cutscene.

They add new regions each x.0 patch. So like 1.0 at the beginning of the game had both Mondstadt and Liyue on release but Inazuma didn't get added until 2.0 a year later and Sumeru for 3.0 a year after that and 4.0 this year a few months ago. So the next nation won't be till 5.0 next fall. That said...that doesn't mean they don't expand the map. Like there's an anticipated Liyue expansion people expect to come up soon or how the Chasm came out last year (which is technically Liyue) or how Dragonspine was released a few patches after the game started even though it's technically Mondstadt and so on.
This trailer mainly showcased the update's flagship event story, seeing as there's no big main story nor regional expansion this patch. Three patches of big story AND regional expansions in a row is actually unprecedented; Inazuma had two with story and three with subregions, Sumeru had three with story and two with subregions. I loved the event and am glad for a bit of a chill patch. lol (but as others have said, a whole new nation is a once-per-year thing)
All the comments already mentioned that the game will get a new major region next year and they've already roadmapped which ones via the travail trailer and through discussion in the main story. But in terms of "adding new regions" the map expands at least once every few versions, with new locations in the countries we already visit being opened up to explore. Based on some characters we've been drip marketed lately we're probably due very soon to get a small map "region" linking Liyue to Fontaine directly.

Well the only thing this trailer showed was the flagship event for this patch. It's mainly a filler patch after 3 full patches of really great main story!
Main big regions are added every X.0 patches (1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and now 4.0) but the already released versions keep getting expansions every now and then.

The bulk of 4.3 is quality of life improvements. Leveling up characters and things have been improved 10 fold. There are mainly events upcoming until 4.4, which is supposed to add to the Liyue map if predictions are correct.

If you're referring to the story.. Fontaine's Archon Quest (Genshin main story quest) is already over with 4.2 with the release on Furina. The next patches are filler patches in between and normally just thematic events until the next big version drops (5.0). Next patch is the Lantern Rite, 4.5 until 4.X are also filler patches but most likely in preparation for the next region, Natlan. The last 3-4 patches might include 2nd atory quest for Furina and another Interlude Archon Quest with Dainsleif and a few more 5 star and 4 star characters.
New major region is always added in parts, starting with the #.0 (2.0, 3.0, 4.0, ..) patch.
Various minor versions (4.1, 4.2, ..) then release more parts of that region. E.g. 4.1 and 4.2 added new parts, 4.3 didn't. I think 4.4 will add another one.
Major versions release ~1 year apart, so 5.0 around Sept. 2024.
- Content in the first patches (.0, .1, .2) of a new region is all about the story specific to that region.
- Specific patches afterwards have main story not specific to that region, but centered around our main character and the greater picture about the world.
- Patches inbetween these, like 4.3, have no main story, but are more about event / side / festive "filler" story content.
- Lastly, the final patch before a new major region is a summer themed relatively large exploration event with it's own time limited map, concluding in a tiny little teaser about the about-to-be released next major region.
Sadly the "filler" patch stories are all time limited. Many of them are really good and worth catching up on / watching on YT sometime!

Navia:
At least in my top 4 most fun to play characters right now.
She's all about generating ammunition with her burst & normal attacks and then unloading them for a chonky 6 digit hit.
She can do that relatively frequently which makes for a fluent fun and satisfying rotation.
Plus she is decently good with relatively accessible teams.
However, she's no Raiden who has arguably the two easiest strongest to build teams available that almost always work in any content (national & hyperbloom).
That said, aside from those teams neither are AS flexible as some people make them out to be.
Strongest and most flexible characters are still Kazuha and Nahida *by far*.. I guess closely followed by Furina, with caveats.
Also .. Ayaka is arguably my number 1 favorite character all around, so this would be the choice of nightmares patch for me if I was a new player lol.
She can be among the strongest once you get all her supports, but if you don't want to get those then other options will be better in terms of easy accessible power.
Of course, all "power" talk only matters when playing Abyss - everything else every character in the game can do with ease with any team .. given the enemies are not immune to their element =)
yea she is basically like mafia kind of xD. And she does tons of dmg and quite easy to build.
FYI, They've released new region every year, except Mondstadt and Liyue remained 7 patches from 1.1 to 1.6, the others stayed atleast 9 patches (equal 12 months for 9 patches), and they've continued to add new stuff of each region like maps, lores and bunch of events. We've just finished Sumeru 4 months ago so from now to September next year will be all Fontaine's content.

The main storyline is at a pause for now, and it's going to be months before anything is ready to see of the next major region (and longer before we're finally ready for it - also, some real world stuff may turn out to slow down development further). So we're now in interlude storylines, festivals, and so on. That doesn't mean significant things won't happen, but they'll be better concealed because players may miss them.
As hoyoverse tradition continues Navia is a sort of alter version of Vill-V from Honkai Impact.
They both wear similar colors - brown and gold/yellow and clothes.
They both focus on guns and cannons.
They even have similar names.

So with this patch, it is generally what would be considered a 'filler' patch, adding a voiced time-limited event that does some world building and is a good source (and probably the only source) of info on the new 4* character being added in the second banners of the patch, Chevreuse. Both new characters are Hoyo's attempt to rework some of the lesser used elemental reactions, namely Geo's Crystalize reaction and the Electro/Pyro Overcharge reaction. The current banners are Navia and Ayaka. The next banner will have Raiden and Yoimiya, with Chevreuse as a 4* on the banner.
Navia is a Geo Claymore character who uses the Crystalize reaction to gain bullets for her Skill, which gains in strength for each Crystalize gem any character on the team collects. She is surprisingly powerful and a lot of fun to play. Her best teams are Navia, another Geo character that causes Geo damage off field(usually ZhongLi), and 2 other characters that do off-field damage of a type that will Crystalize (Hydro, Pyro, Cryo or Electro). I use Navia, Furina, Charlotte and Zhong Li.
Chevreuse is a Pyro Spear character that will use the Overcharge reaction to power up her Skill. Her teams are already being theorized to be Her, an off-field Pyro, and 2 off-field Electro characters.
Navia is an absolute sweetheart. She's a claymore user who calls in artillery strikes, and has a shotgun in her umbrella

I just love the fact that every nation have their respective version of Batman:

-Liyue have Xiao;
-Inazuma have Ayato;
-Sumeru have Cyno;
-And looks like in Fontaine is Navia.
Yeah, Navia is a claymore character. Her signature weapon is an axe, her skill uses her gunbrella to fire of a shotgun blast that deals insane damage and her burst is the cannons which are more of a supporting fire type of thing.
each major version (V1,V2,V3,V4) starts a new country region. minor versions add more of the current region, along with new major quests and gameplay mechanics, or, as with this one (4.3), there's some special time-limited content, which in this case is a voiced world-quest and some mini-games centered around the theme of movie making. The current wish banners are Navia and Ayaka. Navia is the Heiress to an underground organisation (literally) who are all the good points of mafia/yakuza (hence the suits) but without the bad points. They're just generally helpful, adding muscle and legal protection to anyone under their care, mainly in the Poisson shipyard. Not sure how their business actually makes money, but it doesn't seem to matter. She has friends in both high and low places. Have fun!
They open a new nation once a year and then reveal sub-regions related to that nation throughout the patch run. Based off past history, I'd expect another section of Fontaine to be revealed in version 4.5 or 4.6.
This is more like a filler version update after the craziness of the archon quest.
Each region will have a yearly festival and this is Fontaine's probably inspired by the Cannes film festival in France. I would expect there to be a Lantern rite festival in Liyue for the Chinese new year in the next version.
There have been a couple of Genshin concerts that would be good to do for a longer episode if you do them in one go.
6:09 - Yes, regions once a year. If you mean it as in the next region (which is the nation of Pyro known as Natlan) then yes. They usually add new regions in the X.0 updates. So 1.0 was Mondstadt and Liyue, 2.0 was Inazuma, 3.0 was Sumeru and 4.0 was Fontaine. So I assume 5.0 will be Natlan, 6.0 will be Snezhnaya and maybe 7.0 Khaenri:ah ? Since the Teywat travail trailer had Khaenri'ah in it too when mentioning the Chapters of the story.

The new region - which will be Natlan (think pre-Colonial America) - will be added late summer 2024.
The 4.3 update is what we call a "filler" update, no new region, no new main quest, just a couole of events, mabey a new character or two....but thats it for 4.3.
4.4 will have a new region and probably an interlude Archon quest about Dainsleif
To clarify, Interlude Archon Quests does not have Dainsleif. He is included in the "Traveler" act at the end of a major Chapter (such as Chapter 1, Act 4 (V1.4); Chapter 2, Act 4 (V2.6); and Chapter 3, Act 6(V3.5)). I think there can be Interlude Archon Quest in 4.5 and a "Traveler" act with Dain in 4.6.

They add regions pretty frequently. Like for Fontaine (region), it is a 4-version expansion, out of which we had 3 for 4.0-4.2, 4.3 doesn't have any new subregions. We expect the last Fontaine subregion (Petrichor) to come out in 4.6, and there are still subregions that have yet to come out for Mondstadt (Dornman Port) and Liyue (Chenyu Vale). We know these subregions exist thanks to the lore the game provides. (It is not confirmed these are the official names for these areas that I listed, but it's what we know thus far about them)
The nation of Natlan should come out in 2024 in 5.0, and Snezhnaya in 2025 in 6.0. As for what is beyond, it's possible the Abyss can become a region, and there is also Khaenri'ah.
An important thing to mention, the summer events which are the last version to come out before a major patch like 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 had limited time subregions released (Golden Apple Archipelago for 1.6 and 2.8, and Veluriyam Mirrage for 3.8). Yes you cannot explore them anymore, sadly, although there is a chance for them to become permanent; yes I am coping.

Mainly two new characters and QoL updates. Nothing big
personally navia was ok in the story I won't spoil but her character just didn't strike me but probably won over the hearts of so many others. then I saw the demo and she's parkouring around the city and umbrella cancelling fall damage shooting people with massive canons and her umbrella shotgun and then that ost grabbed me by the throat and then I ended up with a navia and her battle axe somehow idk

No matter what anyone says, no version of the game is filler, every version brings more story to the game
a new region is only launched between July and August, so once a year and with that the new one will be launched in 6 months and it is called Natlan, the nation of fire and war
you have to stop your prejudice, characters that use claymores are the characters with the most pure damage in the game
But there ARE filler patches, and 4.3 IS one of them, yes we have some more and story bits in every events (which is dumb, btw, I feel like it's so unfair for new players to miss SO much story and lore parts that are locked behind limited time events that won't come back.)
Filler isn't negative tho, but by filler I think we're all mostly talking about the fact that this version's major point has been the QoL changes and 1 main event like in a lot of patches. But nothing permanent quest wise (aside from the Leroy mini-quest). No new region, archon quest is already done, we still can't lvl up the statue or the fountain of Lucine.
Really, major point sin this update that are permanent are :
QoL changes
Leroy side-quest
Navia story quest
New realm (FINALLY) in the Teapot.
Once again, I (speaking for myself at least) do not consider calling this patch or any other like this one filler being negative, it is what it is and it's good actually, to have a breather every few patches, even more in the early ones from a new region/Archon quest.
@@baekxia interludes and major events are anything but fillers
Fillers are things that are only done to fill space and it has no real importance in the end
Genshin's major events give A LOT of information
or are you going to tell me that the Scaramouche event in 1.0 was a filler? Of course it wasn't and anyone who says it was is an idiot
