I'm floored that is a new bike holy cow Kaplan, I hope someone rides the hell outta this thing and let them restore it again in 2074.
This is great to see! I still own my high school bike- a 1976 Kawasaki KH500, 3 cylinder, 2 cycle screamer! These are classic old school street bikes. 👍
Yep had me a couple few back when
OK only 2 one Gt750 suzuki
Tidy as plus that color set it off well done yet again Guy's.
I bought this exact same bike from Dick Green Yamaha in Detroit. I live in Canada 45 min. south east of Detroit. This bike has been in my basement for the last 37 years.
Oh my God, that sound, that smell. A time machine.
By for the nicest 76 Ive ever seen. Well done boyz👏👏👏👏🏆
Wonderful Kaplan. Wonderful.
"Absolutely love the Yamaha RD400 cc! The 1976 model is an absolute classic, with its sleek design and powerful performance. It's amazing how Yamaha managed to pack so much punch into this beauty. Riding one of these is like taking a trip back in time to an era of raw, untamed power on two wheels. The sound of that 2-stroke engine roaring to life is music to my ears. Nothing quite like the thrill of hitting the open road on my favorite RD400 cc. Yamaha truly nailed it with this legendary machine!
Couldn't agree more!
A real screamer! Thanks for sharing Ken
Spewing 2-stroke smoke while tearing up the streets, love it!!!
True survivor and a beautiful masterpiece. 🇬🇧
Definitely a beautiful bike but, "survivor" means untouched. I was lucky enough to pick one up about 10 years ago for 3K that looks as clean as this and I'd like to think it was untouched. The RD400 was actually the first mass produced bike with MAG wheels. RD also stands for Race Developed for those who may not know. I love the smell of 2-Stroke in the morning.
@RedBud315 the word survivor basically it's still here after all that time regardless of being restored. how many bikes have ended up in the scrap yard within 10 years millions.
Pristine 👍
Absolutely amazing motorcycle rare thanks for the info ken cool video Ronnie Kaplan Cycles God Bless America 🇺🇲New England Motorcycle Museum

Nothing beats RDs!
A bike like that would be awesome to know it's story and former owner who put all that work into it.
beyond beautiful
Make it ho A ringa dinga ringa. 2 smoking 👍 👍 ups. ROCK ON
Me first wassa 75 RD350, ME second wassa 84 RZ350 Kenny Robert's Bumble 🐝 yellow & Black. Ps 75 was Orange and black
I'm looking for a "TZ" 750
Not a h2750
OK maybe a Ghamma 500 suZuki 2
We have one for sale it's $100,000 bring a trailer and a bunch of cash
Gawd I used to have a 350 as a teenager. I'm going to have nightmares now after hearing that engine. 2-stroke PTSD. 😂
I had one of those, a red one, and my buddy had a Honda 400 four cylinder. I beat him off the line all day, but he caught and passed me on the top end.
Very cool, buy a different from the UK models, we had a coffin tank, and twin front discs, but it's a beauty
Love that green color. This bike looks brand new. Love this bike, but I prefer the 1979 Yamaha RD 400 Daytona, in white and red. The former owner obviously kept up this bike very well.
I can almost smell the 2 smoke.
It even sounds original
I had the same bike and it was very quick 👍
Ever did a rd 60? that was my first bike awesome video's keep it rollin brother 👊
Very nice RD 400... is it still available? Can we run regular gas (with 10% ethanol)?
Yes at www.kaplancycles.com
I remember an extra set of plugs under the seat.
Salut Kaplan America elle magnifique l année de ma naissance vive les usa David le français ❤
If you could only have one, 350 or 400?
Unreal mint 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
This is pre RD although the UK already had it available by 1976..
It's an RD though the wheels are from a later model than the seat.
BTW, I bought mine in 1976 at Archie's Motorcycle on route 9 Shrewsbury, Massachusetts for $1295.00 brand new 😎👍
How about that 1295 will almost pay the sales tax on this one now LOL
@@KaplanCycles I bet, beautiful bike! Brought back a lot of memories for me
😎🤙
I recall The RD400 Was Daytona Special
They made a model called the Daytona 400 for one year and 1979 it was red and white
@@KaplanCycles The Daytona was the last air cooled year before they went to the LC. It had what they called a butterfly exhaust valve(not related to the YPVS power valve system) and a single ram-air type head that covered both cylinders. I have a '76 RD400C which is first year of the 400. I started on a '73 RD250 in '78 and then got a '75 RD350 the next year that was really not street legal. Had no turn signals, or speedo, Just a tach and lights and wheelied the 1st 3 gears when it got on the pipe. I blew away all CB-750-4's stop light to stop light until the VFR-750 interceptor came out.
My Dad had a friend that owned a Yamaha dealership back in the day, and my Dad bought an RD400, white (not exactly sure of the year). He brought it home, and I sat on our steps, next to where he parked it. He refused to give me a ride, I was too young. A couple of days later, I saw him riding down our street on it, and I was disappointed, again. After the first few days, Mom made him return the bike to the dealership. Years later, I asked her why, and she said, "We had four children at home, and I wasn't going to let him risk it, you kids needed your Father." Mom was born in Speedway, Indiana, and she knew he wasn't a good rider.
