To be fair you need to have a very high iq to understand the Amazing Spider-Man movies. The plot is very subtle, and without a solid grasp of themes most of the nuance will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also the movies' nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into their characterisation - the personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these nuances, to realize that they're not just entertainment- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Andrew's Spidey truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the genius in Peter's existencial crisis which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. For me, Andrew was the best actor in portraying Spider man who has lost a lot. His girlfriend, his girlfriend's father, knowing how his parents died, also his best friend, gone. TASM and its sequel were much more than Tobey and Tom's movies. All of them are great, but he doesn't deserve hate. Rhino in TASM 2 was pretty weird tho
I’ve always felt that he played an excellent spidey, (right humour, right physicality) but not a great Peter Parker, he was a little too cool to be a proper Peter. He is a fantastic actor though! And I found enjoyment in both of his Spider-Man movies.
His spiderman is most comic accurate. I loved the humour, fighting, agility, smarts etc he had and how he brought realism to the character with his portrayal of Peter Parker.
This episode was actually aired in 2017 originally xD He has an excellent poker face in all the recent interviews for sure but this one is just him in genuine pain over the cancellation of TASM3
Garfield is such a good actor that I still genuinely can't believe he's not American. It's hard to get different American accents right and yet he's completely crushed Southern in Hacksaw Ridge, "Californian" in The Social Network, and a New York accent in Spider-Man. Unbelievable.
He is hands down my fav spiderman. The accent and the feel of his character was just perfect! I was so upset I didn't get a part 3. I was really into the story
It’s actually feels so nice that Andrew considers playing Spider-Man as a childhood dream, hopefully in no way home, he truly deserves to make a epic comeback alongside with tobey.
Bruh honestly, idk how people can choose between Toby, Andrew and Tom. Toby is a legend and paved the way for the others, Andrew has amazing acting skills and Tom is funny and more relatable
Yeah it's so relatable that a billionaire comes and gets you a job and really advanced technology, in my opinion Tobey or Andrew are the most relatable ones. But i still love Tom as Spider-man
Tom isn't really that relatable the day I try to stop drones from blowing up a bus full of students while trying to delete blackmail photos taken by a shell of a character, i'll come back and eat my words

Many actually do love Andrew’s spidey, his was more comic accurate with the quirky spidey remarks to the villains, compared to his Peter, I always thought Andrew played a great spidey in the suit, tobey played a more accurate dorky Peter, and Tom has a bit more of a balance between the two. Being a dorky Peter amd still having the childish remarks and humor of a young spidey
@@Thisguy2532 This. I thouht his version was written was too cool to be Peter Parker. Also hated that a perfect red head was playing Gwen Stacey instead of MJ. It felt like a waste of Emma Stone. So all in all it's not Garfield it's the decisions made around him. Tom Holland is to cute to be peter Parker as well but the decision to skip his origin story helps him out.
Andrew is seriously one of the most underrated actors of our time. I really hope he ends his career with many awards and accolades cause he deserves it. What an actor.
Still can't believe people were blaming him when the franchise didn't work, he's a great actor maybe not perfect for the role of Peter Parker but still an amazing Spider-Man. I think he was even better than Tobey.
I always said that both Tobey and Andrew were great in the role, although both were a bit too old for it but that's Hollywood for you. IMO, the difference being that Tobey made a better Peter, as he got the geekier side of Peter, while Andrew made a better Spidey, as he got the fun and exhilaration of swinging through the city and stopping crimes etc.
@@Elwaves2925 I agree with you on that, that's why I think Tom is the best because he's a good Peter and Spider-Man and is actually young. But when I hear people talk about Andrew I'm always shocked. Because of No Way Home I have started to watch the Amazing Spider-man movies again, and Andrew truly was amazing as a Spider-man. The way he interacted with the citizens, being very down to earth in general, also confident. I liked his potrayal a lot.
I like Tom Holland but Andrew was PERFECT as Spider-Man. His personality & comical ability was spot on. Not his fault that TASM2 was shit because he was still great in it.
When the opening question on the interview was about Spider-Man, Andrew was like "It's ok it's fine, it's just one question", then he asked another question about Spider-Man Andrew was like "Come on mofo you're trying to get me killed, Kevin Feige has a sniper on me 24/7, if I slip that I'm on the next movie I'm dead"
I keep writing this on all Jonathan Ross's videos. To me, among Graham Norton, and all the American late night TV hosts, Ross is the best. He asks serious questions, while keeping it light. He's quick-witted and extremely hospitable.
I came here to hear him talk about Spider-Man but this was a ‘breathe’ interview and it’s my absolute favorite film of andrew’s. I have a birth defect and that movie made me cry so hard!
Andrew was heavily underrated and under appreciated as Spider-Man. I hated the amazing Spider-Man 2 but one thing I can’t fault was his performance. He is basically a perfect balance of Tobey and Tom’s Spider-Man. Quippy and funny whilst also not overly reliant on technology. My favourite Spidey will always be Tobey because he’s who I grew up with but Andrew was amazing. And so is Tom.
@@ampone7885 nah 16 but I just remember being in awe at a friends house while watching him fight the electro guy. Probably one of the most memorable movie moments for me
Hopefully after Spiderman : No way Home , my theory comes true. Tom Spiderman will continue under the MCU banner, Tobey Spiderman will have a proper ending, and Andrew Spiderman will return to the big screen as the main Spidey for their Sony Spidy Villian Universe. Wanna see Tom face against Venom and the rest but feels like Andrew's spidey fits that universe better
That'd be amazing! Tobey would finally get the proper conclusion to his story he deserved all those years ago, Tom can continue as the MCU Spider-Man and being involved in Marvel's newest projects, and Andrew would get the second chance he deserved. Furthermore on Andrew's Spidey, it'd be PERFECT for the Sony universe. TASM 1&2 had a bit more of a dark and gritty feeling to them compared to the other films, and that'd fit perfectly with them bringing in characters like Venom, Carnage, and Morbius. I could see them continuing with Andrew's Peter for some time and eventually paving way for a Miles Morales takeover in the same universe. I think that could be done really nicely and give us years worth of Spider-Man content to look forward to.
Andrew is an amazing actor. His spiderman wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't an awful spiderman. Honestly a movie where he really shined was Hacksaw Ridge. He was truly amazing in that movie and he looked as if he were comfortable there
Andrew was an Amazing Spider-Man regardless how his 2 movies won't that good. Anything is possible with the multiverse. Hope he gets a least one more chance to play the iconic character. :)

The leaked photo that Sony has been flagging (they’ve had people’s whole social media accounts taken down for sharing the photo) appears to be a confirmation at this. But also who knows, and it would be wonderful to see them expand this story a bit more
Also- most movies take 3-8 years to develop before production begins. I would put money on it that his odd behavior after being asked about Spider-Man is due to the fact that he was probably approached about reprising his role sometime before this interview took place
I just hope mcu wont ruin and spit on those previous versions by making them do meme references, getting captured or some shit just to give tom the spotlight and save them.
Edit: Its not that Tom Holland shouldn't be the spotlight of the movie. There's just a chance that the two spiderman randomly being nerfed because..writing.
@@catgamerzxd they’d have to do something like that promote their version of Spider Man. Honestly I see a lot of hype for this movie and I even wonder whether anyone is going to pay any attention to Tom, I’m sure the writers thought that might happen so they’ll obviously do something to make Tom’s Spider Man the focus while kind of nerfing the others or making him some kind of leader of them
The way he came in and said "You're wonderful" is so beautiful ♥️♥️ He's so sweet.
I went and rewatched some of Andrews's scenes from TASM and let me tell you, he _killed_ it, especially the scene where he made the webshooters and web fluid. You a great Spidey Andrew.
I just watched all the old Spider-Man movies in preparation for NWH and while I couldn‘t stand Tobey‘s stuff, I really enjoyed Andrews work. I liked the movies, the were very entertaining and Andrew‘s perfromance was perfect. I‘ve only known Tom‘s Spider-Man before and I already thought he was perfect but Andrew really killed it, like you said. :)

i hate how when everyone’s discussing the fact that they could all share the screen, the only think about how tobey could be coming back. ok, he’s “the og” but andrew isn’t getting enough attention. i’ve always liked his portrayal over the others, but that’s just my opinion. and therefore i’d want to see him most, i wouldn’t even mind a 3rd movie.

His spiderman is most comic accurate. I loved the humour, fighting, agility, smarts etc he had and how he brought realism to the character with his portrayal of Peter Parker.
His poker face is everything! He knows he is in it and still can not confirm it, he should Get an Oscar!

The script for the second movie wasn't great. But that's not Andrew's fault. And yes, the mid-air fights and swinging in TASM were the best!
