I'm Mexican and "ice cream" made out of water it's really common, we call it "nieve de garrafa" and the ice cream can be made out of water or milk/cream.
The garrafa process itself is similar to the one of an ice cream machine, with the only difference that you have to move the mixture by hand with a metal tool inside a bucket with ice and salt.
Also, the flavors are different depending if it is water or milk based, ex. Water flavors will be mango, kiwi and milk flavors will be chocolate, pistachio, vanilla...

Limón, tamarindo, even elote! I was thinking the same, here in México ice cream made with water is really common.

When I saw "water ice cream" I thought it was one of those weird hard-time recipes. Then I thought, "it technically can't be called ice-cream unless it has over a certain percentage of cream/milk fat." Then I saw it was a packet mix and was like "it's got milk! You add water to the milk powder and BAM, milk!" So yeah, that was my journey. And Yuzu is such an odd flavour but kinda delicious. There is a gelato place in Perth that does Yuzu ice cream and sorbet. It's like, definitely citrus, but not lemon, orange or lime, it's a flavour all its own.

I wonder how this process would fair with more "traditional" American ice cream flavors? The first and last ones sounded like something one might find at an ice cream parlor but so many of them had the "perfume" quality to them that wasn't so successful. All down to taste preferences, of course, I just wonder because the texture and the process seemed to be passable enough for ice cream.

I guess your top least favourite Emmy would be my favourite and that’s exactly how taste buds work hahaha. I have to admit I clicked thinking it’s not ice cream if it’s made with water, it’s a ice. I think they all sound like more "artificial" flavors than I would prefer. I like your idea of using strawberries, or cocoa. Even plain vanilla. Simpler, more conventional flavors, but made with the powdered base.

@@ndb_1982 Well, there's that, if you have an ice cream maker (and I do). I think the kits are designed for people who don't have an ice cream maker. I'm just curious as to why they didn't make more conventional flavors part of the kit.

Maybe he added flavor if I'm not mistaken but it was pretty cool! And a tablespoon or 2 of condensed milk!

The ninja ice cream machine has you "spin" the ice cream to soften it up. I wish it was created with a sugar substitute option as well.

      Probably for the best.
Artificial sweeteners can cause diabetes, weight gain, arthritis, mood swings, diarrhea, cramps, headaches, etc.
Plus, our liver has a hard time with processing those chemicals.
My sister is a diabetic. She got it from a medication. Diabetes was one of the side effects.
Anyway, she started using artificial sugars. Splenda, Stevia and many other kinds.
She was running to the bathroom multiple times a day. Her glucose levels went through the roof- 500 to "unable to read". She had to take insulin a lot.
I told her she needed to stop using that poison and why.
      So, she did.
She started using real sugar in moderation.
It took about a week but her bathroom breaks were fewer and her glucose levels stay so normal, she hasn't had an insulin shot in over a year.
Our bodies weren't meant to process those chemicals.
If you knew what's really in Aspartame, you'd gag.
I'm not telling you what to do. It's your body.
I just wanted you to know some of the harmful effects of fake sugars.
MERRY CHRISTMAS🎁❄️☃️ and Happy New Year! 🎉

@@anakelly76512 actually most of that isn't true as a diabetic I have had to research a lot of things of this nature. Although I will agree that some people have a sensitivity to sugar substitutes.
