Frankly, I think AJ did a very good job on promo. He spoke from his heart about his current situation and his new perspective about the business, which is more than what most other people have ever done.
Main reasons I switched to TNA from WWE is the fact that Hulk Hogan and Sting are in TNA, plus the fact that many former WCW stars used to be in TNA too. I had and still have huge respect for Sting and Hulk. Esspecially for Sting who is one of most unique wrestlers in history who has been top star for 25 years and never made a mistake. I always supported his life-long decision not to join WWE, even when I was fan of WWE.
I didn't find this boring at all. Sure it didn't have witty one-liners or cool catchphrases, but AJ spoke from his heart and soul about where his new perspective of the wrestling business and his darker outlook came from. I could hear and feel the emotions in his voice and it really sucked me in. That's all that really matters in the end.

AJ Styles is the greatest to ever do it in the ring. Notice how I wrote in the ring, because he isn't the greatest on the mic, but not bad either.
I would say A.J's promos have always been professional and to the point. Sought of like Rey Mysterio, they care about the match and the oppenet and the program like everyone should, it's not about showboating and showing off like some people do on the mic.
