      Oh no worries. You were right on the money. And it wasn't really your comment. As a rule live videos don't do the process justice. Plus I didn't accomplish much during the live so I really wanted to show the whole process from beginning to end. Yes. We have a bird shop that sells birds nest kits with the type thing you mentioned (cheaper to collect yourself though). I also know a lady that cuts her families hair, then sweeps it out into the front yard for birds to use. LOL!

Due to various reviews I wasn't sure what brand to get so I got small sets of Caran D'Ache Museum Aquarelle and Faber Castell Albrecht Durer. I found the A/D's activate easier and smoother. When I go to buy a full set, that will be my choice.

    I really enjoy the way you explain things and your process for creating this work.
    I have two questions?
    1) Would it be possible to increase the contrast by deepening the darks? While it looks very realistic, IMHO it just doesn't "pop" because the darks (at least on the video) look to be in the "mid-tone" range. I find this to be common in water color paintings. I would love to see how this looked if you went over the darks a couple more times and really got some "blacks" in there for contrast.
    2) How would this look with a lot more hues added? Again, it is realistic, but I find "natural" colors to be sometimes very limited in hue and quite monotonous (unless we are looking at flowers or sunsets, etc.) I really enjoy paintings where the artist takes the suggested hues "hidden" in nature and exaggerates them.
    Thank you so much for your great tutorials and practical tips and demos!

    • @mindofwatercolor
      @mindofwatercolor  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Watercolor, because it will completely turn into a wash if you use enough water. If show or contest guidelines prohibit mixed media they might not believe its all watercolor if they see any pencil strokes though. If this is a concern, best to ask if this is a show violation.

    Question. Which part of the process do you like most? I've talked to fellow artists who said they like the drawing part, others like inking, me, i loooove to render. That "tedious" bit, where you build up shadows and highlights and add details to make it POP, that's what I love. That's when it really goes from "oh that's nice", to "wow!"
    So what part do you like? (Other artists on here, welcome to answer as well :D)
