      Hey Steve. This Flint Long writing. I'm a keyboard man, but I pick some guitar. I'm fixin' to buy a Telecaster because I want to get the exact country sound this guy on this videos got. There are so many models of teles,. Please, please tell me what tele I need to buy and about how much it would cost to get a sound like this (i know i need pedals too ) but right now i just want to know if a cheaper tele will be good enough or do I need to buy like an American Professional or something. Thanks for your help and advice, man.

    That is excellent! I'm a blues/rock/fusion player for about 40 years but I have a fairly small vocabulary of country chops. Your very clear delivery and professional presentation make this a quick, painless and relatively easy to absorb addition to my arsenal. Every once in awhile I find myself in that country arena where I have to throw down. This will definitely help. Thank you!

    I hate to be just one more person sayin "good job", but this video is amazing... And kind of an answered prayer, too... The main lick of this has been stuck in my head for months... I've been playin for over 25 years, and only started learning chicken pickin and country lead about 6 months ago... I know, I know, I've read about 20 comments that all say that very thing... But when I picture "chicken pickin" this lick is one of the first things I think of... But I never QUITE knew how to play it... I could "kinda" play it in E, lol... But that rhythm gets me every time! I always wanna fall into a 2/4, alternating bass line thing... Thank you SO much... You really are an excellent player with amazing technique... But you're an even better teacher...

    I have an 2007 or so guitar site but have been doing piano sice around 2009. I started doing a few guitar lessons and guitar stuff started showing up in my feed. I noticed that you like to teach by bits and pieces and slow. ABC GMA, I think, said if you read something extremely slow.. you will remember it 60000 thousand times easier. I think I'm quoting them right. Nice rig.

    Left-field question here: Do you need long fingernails on your picking hand for this? I usually keep mine pretty short otherwise they just feel uncomfortable to me. Yet because of that, I can't get the strings to ring very well when I try this. I'm a professional blues player most of the time, either just flat picking or using my fingertips to pluck the strings. This hybrid, chicken pickin' stuff is a whole other animal for me.

    • @SixStringCountry
      @SixStringCountry  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +Timo Arthur Hey Timo! I don't have long fingernails on my right hand. I use the flesh of my fingers to grab the string and pop it. That's what gives it that chicken pickin' feel. Thanks for watching!

    • @PIANOSTYLE100
      @PIANOSTYLE100 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well.. I work with wood. The fingernails get dirty sometimes.. However you have to get that bite.. So yes.
      Just in moderation.

    For some reason, a lot of guitar players are just averse to standard music reading. I'm not criticizing - just sorta marveling. I'm a keyboard guy who likes guitar & the challenge - but can U imagine a great Jazz piano or sax player teaching complex meandering lines like this via this method? It's cool; whatever works! I'M here! LOL - struggling along. But I also double on tenor sax & flute. I was always the "utility guy" in bands.. For ANY other instrument - for something this complex? You have it transcribed & slowly READ IT. just sayin' .. Good Luck!

Sticks in your head, don't it?
