No need to read that much into it. It was a complement. EVH was a showman and the best guitarist on the planet at the time. No idea how you could interpret that into a slight.... Good day
David W What I really like about Eddie is his rhythm. His flow is very organic and hard to imitate. Never mind the 114532 notes a minute. No one plays his riffs quite like him.
I bumped into him years ago at Rudy’s music on 48th st and had no idea who he was. My jaw was on the floor listening to him casually riff. The manager kept saying he was from outer space. Johnny just smiled.
I love Johnny as the guy who got me back into this world as I was turning 65 and I heard Johnny and got myself back into playing and after emailing back and forth with Johnny got to know him as n incredible human being! Love ya Brother Christopher
My wife and boys had cataracts as babies, so they all have Nystagmus (my wife's being the worst, my boys being barely noticeable). I never realized that was Johnny's issue. One way or the other, class act and one of the best guitar players to walk the earth.
This guy is way under rated. No one hardly knows who he is except those people that have a little more appreciation for music than the average person. Too bad. Johnny is a legend in his own time.
Awesome video! Met Johnny while NAMM was going on in Nashville back in like 05 or 06 or something, can’t remember off hand. Watched his show at a bar and he tore the roof off the place! Then went back and hung out at his apartment and shot the shit for awhile. Awesome, super wholesome guy and one hell of a guitar player!
A lot of new rock shredders coined a term "Swybrid picking" which is a combination of hybrid and sweep picking to make faster licks. In my mind, country players have been doing that for ages!
More riffs to steal on this video than on an entire Black Sabbath album... ! This fella has more chops than the T Bone Diner and Cookie’s Steak Pub put together
Does anyone know if the song he starts at 2:48 is an actual chet tune, or just his interpretation of the style? I've heard Johnny do a few permutations on that tune in various videos. I'd really love to learn the whole thing!
What a great player Johnny is. He doesn't need any pedals. He even shuts off the Milkman when he was demonstrating his chicken picking. I tried the Milkman and didn't really dig it. I wanted to love it but the repeats of the delay wasn't loud enough to my ears, it's almost as if you have a feedback knob turned too low. I really like the Unicorn Pedal from JHS. I need to try the Andy Timmons and the Angry Charlie. I've heard great things about those pedals. Great video of Johnny! He's amazing.
Johnny I know that the actual tone comes from your fingers but where do your amp setting start? Are you heavy on mid, high end, presence? I need a good starting place?
He's someone who I would like to see play an 8 string guitar. Some bass notes as he picks the chords and melody. He has the genius to be traditional with extended range instead of being djent, metal or some instrumental tapping. Just a wild idea. The pedals sound great too.
I love my Milkman pedal. Johnny's great, but he has so many videos where he's been heavy on praise for a piece of gear. It's tough to tell what he's really excited about vs. what he's paid to be excited about and won't ever use again.
I hear you, Jason, I have noticed this as well. Even if he doesn't use these pedals frequently, they sound great and enhance his playing styles, so I can't find any other reason to doubt his endorsement. It feels like he gets very happy when he's got his equipment dialed in, and if it makes him happy, it'll probably make me happy. And to flip that around, I have a hard time believe that he'd shill for a product he didn't think was worth it.
Agreed. Johnny H is a fabulous dude, we all know that. But if he used all the stuff he heartily recommends, he'd be covered in guitars and have a pedal-board so big he couldn't move around the stage.
I wonder if he can see the strings, guessing probably not. Which makes him even more Amazing. But I'm pretty sure that he wasn't this good at 10 years old. He developed this over his Life time. STILL NO LESS AMAZING.
Gotta give it to him: dude’s salesman game is almost as strong and natural as his guitar game. Almost. Dude can play a shoe string attached to a pencil amplified by an empty toilet roll tube and make it sound great.
What a brilliant person. Not guitarist. Person. So humble. I love Johnny 🙂
person is overrated. guitarist is everything.
I love your profile pic!
i realize Im quite randomly asking but do anyone know of a good site to watch new movies online?
@Alijah Kairo thank you, I went there and it seems to work :D Appreciate it!
@Lee Christopher Happy to help :D
This guy is the country EVH. He's so great and seems like such a good dude
I think that's kind of a slight to Johnny. EVH was more of a showman and less of a guitarist, even in his era - compared to guys like Johnny.
No need to read that much into it. It was a complement. EVH was a showman and the best guitarist on the planet at the time. No idea how you could interpret that into a slight.... Good day
EVH is a badass and johnny grew up on some EVH from what I heard from him.
Less of a guitarist? Do you think about what you're about to say or just troll about the wasteland?

There's nothing I like hearing Johnny Hiland say more than these 3 words while holding a guitar:
"Check this out".
0:17 "Guitar was really a gift from God for me..." You got that right.
Johnny is one of my favorites for about 20 years now. I turned my dad on to him. ❤️🤠
I love Johnny as the guy who got me back into this world as I was turning 65 and I heard Johnny and got myself back into playing and after emailing back and forth with Johnny got to know him as n incredible human being! Love ya Brother Christopher
Same here...I was strictly rock, jazz and blues until I heard Johnny. Country picking is great fun and can played at "apartment level" volume.
I LOVE Johnny Hiland, he's one of my guitar heroes, but I NEVER thought I'd see him on JHS! That's awesome!!!
My wife and boys had cataracts as babies, so they all have Nystagmus (my wife's being the worst, my boys being barely noticeable). I never realized that was Johnny's issue. One way or the other, class act and one of the best guitar players to walk the earth.

Johnny is brilliant. He’s quite the salesman as well. I’m convinced. I’ll take two of everything!
Such an amazing player. He literally makes it look easy but it ain't. He's a beast of a player!
Johnny, Son!!! You definitely have Southern DNA in you. Hats off to Johnny Hiland!!!
Love this guy. My favorite video of his too. Great job guys.
Johnny is just insanely good, I don`t think there`s noone who is on his level of playing. And such a down to earth goodguy as well, a class act!
I love this dude !!! Johnny is awesome !! Freaking amazing guitarist. I’ve been playing 40 years couldn’t touch this guy!
Johnny might be one of my favorite guitarist, hands down
The best salesman in music.
He seems like he is just such a good dude... he can definitely play too!
This man just inspired a trip to guitar center to get a tele. I’ve never tried this style of playing, and can’t wait to start practicing!
How ya making out ??

Some great sounds there. And man, Johnny's such an incredible picker. Good stuff.
Here's a down to earth person who really knows his stuff! Love this!
This guy is so cool! Those steel licks were amazing
This dude took everything you thought you knew about country music and turned it on its head. Dude toured with double Hiwatt stacks!!
I think he's one of, if not THE best guitarist in the world... Seems like a wonderful, funny, humble, guy... And COMPLETELY under rated...
On the same level as guthrie govan but with different focus
gotta love Johnny he turned me on to v-picks now I cant play without them
Such a great player and seemingly genuine guy 🤙🏻
God blessed Johnny with His own hand
My new favorite guitarist!.
Johnny Hiland is a beast and an awesome dude.
Johnny Hiland is so incredible!!
You are awesome Johnny!🎸
All these new players can only dream of being Like this guy.
What a legend hope to be as good as him one day!
Love this guy
This man is a monster! Super Nice guy, always with a smile, what a playerr...man, im really jealous kkkkk
Wow Johnny, he's great in every way.
I'm nota very deep in the country stuff but this guy os one of my favourites...
Hiland will be who people name as one of the greats in the future. Fight me!
No kidding...I go back and watch his Reeves Space Cowboy amp reviews for a gold mine of greasy licks.
Played more notes in this vid than most people in a year.
Johnny is one of my all time favorite players there’s nothin the guy can’t do
Brilliant guy and guitarist. I wish he showed the exact Milkman settings though
Just awesome 👏🏻
Johnny Highland's the best! Great video guys!!
Amazing playing
Does anyone know if the song he starts at 2:48 is an actual chet tune, or just his interpretation of the style? I've heard Johnny do a few permutations on that tune in various videos. I'd really love to learn the whole thing!
Chet Atkins 1954 "Mr. Sandman"
Darn it, I love Johnny Hiland
Hes humble n his cool what a great guy
Such a cool dude!!
He makes this stuff look so effortless and it's so tough to play for a below average player like myself
Truly awesome
Great guy great player
He's wonderful.
Love my JHS Milkman.
Its impossible to be this good.
He’s the man !
The lord said it was time, so i sent it
“Check this out”
*rips guitar to shreds*
Coolest thing about guitar is you can play it so many different ways
This guy is awesome!
I love this
OMFG! What a great player!
like hearing Chet Atkins back to life man ❤
Johnny hyland is the man.
He really is.
Good stuff here!
Is there a bluegrass album featuring one Hiland, Johnny, I have to wonder?
"Muckled ahold of me". Never heard that one!
What a player!

The thing with the Milkman is that it's meant to be subtle and stacked with other boosts/ ODs. It's an 'always on' like the klon or xotic EP boost.
Johnny I know that the actual tone comes from your fingers but where do your amp setting start? Are you heavy on mid, high end, presence? I need a good starting place?
Hey, I wound the pickups in that guitar! 😁
Seems like a dude I'd love to hang out with damn awesome player
He's such a great guitarist and a great person.
Pure genius man god bless
Amazing
Unbelievable talent wow
Legend.
I'd love to hear Johnny doing some chicken picking with a JHS Fuzz on full blast 🎸😎

HA! So true.

He's a great endorser even if the product doesn't end up on his board. Billy Mays eat your heart out.
He played in Don Kelly's band, that's all you need to know!
His skills are quite well developed
Arguably the greatest guitar picker of all time. Best part is he’s an even better human being.
I wonder if he can see the strings, guessing probably not. Which makes him even more Amazing. But I'm pretty sure that he wasn't this good at 10 years old. He developed this over his Life time. STILL NO LESS AMAZING.
Excelente guitarrista.
Awesome

What a bizarrely mixed video
