    TO EVERYONE: This isn't even their form of basic. It's just the first day. The final day of the equivalent "basic" training USAFA cadets have to go through is rough. Not only that, but all these cadets are undergoing some of the most challenging academics in the nation Most people make it through basic easy, but try making it through an Academy. Give respects to anyone who serves, no matter what their branch or rank, because they have all sacrificed in some way for YOU

      Some academies have even shorter answers; "Yes sir," "No sir," and "No excuse, sir." Obviously I left out the sir sandwich for ease of reading! :)

    Until 1947 they were US Army Air Forces. The United States lost over 50,000 in the skies during WWII. There were multiple MOH awards for the Ploesti raid by the 15th AF when these men went down in flaming coffins trying to gain enough altitude to save their crewmen. I would not make fun of the USAF.

    I am in the Navy and basic training and officers training is no joke. I walked in basic training with a smile on my face and I stopped smiling after the drill instructors were screaming in my face 15 seconds later.

    I wanted to thank those on here in service and others for the many informative posts. We are so worried about our son. Our love knows no bounds for him and we are sooo proud of him for wanting to serve his country. We miss him terribly and write him daily. He calls whenever he can but it's not the same. Any parents on here know what I'm talking about. This is the hardest thing we've had to go through since becoming parents. God bless you Michael...wherever you are:)

    Good to see they get treated as hard as Active Basic Military Trainees in the Air Force.

  • @Tasadaru
    @Tasadaru 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    During BMT, one of the cadets decided to play the role of TI with one of the trainees. The trainee did nothing wrong and he was told to get up and leave after 1 minute to eat. This was around 4th or 5th week. When the TI found out about this he went on the speakers and called out the cadets name with the title "trainee" preceding it. He was put into his place when he got upstairs. Some cadets are cool and some are not.

  • @ColonelFatass3
    @ColonelFatass3 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    They do that to test you mentally, to see how well you do under pressure. Trust me, I went through Air Force BMT and had a group of MTIs yelling at me at the same time on my first week.

  • @StikkyIkky

    To all you hating on the Air Force and the Academy, these cadets train for a different purpose here. They are being trained at a higher caliber than any of the enlisted force because they will have to lead as soon as they graduate. As for the Air Force, I'm enlisted and all those BMT videos here are nothing compared to what you will actually experience, plus in todays world we deploy with everybody... joint mission and goal

  • @theriseagainstfan01
    @theriseagainstfan01 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    they do it because those cadets are nearly graduated and commissioned, so theyre preparing them by giving them a role of leadership and putting them in charge of subordinates.. its equal parts training for those new cadets and those senior cadets

  • @Only1HighlighterLeft
    @Only1HighlighterLeft 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The shouting is to see if they can function under stress. In the military, they yell because when someone is yelling in your face, you feel pressured and under stress, and you still need to be able to act normally under that kind of stress. If you were in a war, you don't want your soldiers freezing up because they are panicking.

    @panthersfb92 I always like to say, "If you keep a level head, you'll be a level ahead." This means to stay cool in situations. Don't let anything panic you. Make a quick decision, but don't make it out of fear. Sometimes the decision he'll have to make won't have a right response, so just make a decision, and stick with it. don't second guess yourself during your actions. learn from mistakes, but don't dwell on them. and remember, it's a team, so do your best to help the team

    I'm enlisted and that makes sense to me. It's hard to get into the academy, but if you go to college (which most people, besides me, do) then you can take ROTC and then go to OTS instead of BMT.

    That kid deserves it though he was in an article in a local paper talking about how easy he thought it would be just because he was in Civil Air Patrol and was involved in emergency responses and he was bragging about the Academy being a small step in the path to becoming the first man to land on Mars. Naturally, the article was forwarded throughout the entire cadet wing so all of the cadre knew who this kid was and what he had said.

We can't wait to see him at graduation next month and pray that he makes it!! Go Michael!!! :D Ok...I know, I'm pathetic, but that's just cause I'm a mom missing her only son. I'll shut up now;)
