- Well probably one of the most uneventful maiden flights iv'e ever done!! The Fms cub was faultless, a dream to fly and I thought it looked stunning in the Swiss paint scheme. I was very pleased with the little bit of detailing I did on the dummy engine, helping the model look a little bit more scale!! I was a bit concerned that the small scale Cub wheels would not cope with the clumpy winter grass, but they worked well, All in all a lovely relaxng maiden flight.

I got my coffee n choc biscuits in my comfy chair.... What a nice relaxing vid bottom feeder just like the carbon cub... Looking forward to next winter in can see this kite on skis... On frosty or snow ground. Surprised how well them dinky wheels handled the grass. Nice and as usual impeccable cinematography from Cheryl

@@IansRCExploits Ian my diet starts again tomorrow 800 calories per day trying to get rid of a few more pounds lost 2st already need another 2 then hopefully that would put my diabetes into remission but weekends. Arm my treat times... Trust me. Keep to 800kcal per day it works... Its the NHS DIET

Nice looking bird Ian, a useful size as well. Comparing it to the HobbyKing Navy Cub on my shelf it looks very similar, I don't know if it's the same moulding? Same span as well. The red and white is a lovely combination Of course I have the weak undercarriage which I've repaired a couple of times. I see the rudder and elevator servo are out the back end on the FMS Cub but apart from that very little difference. 😁👍
Yes they are very similar!! I think the main difference is that the way the wings join on to the fuselage!! On the second flight the wheel popped off and damaged the undercarriage fairings!! So there's still a bit of weakness 😀👍

Beautiful flyer Ian! I really love the red and white livery.. I really like the engine detail, that's the only thing that needs finishing on my J3 cub that's been back burnered.. thanks for sharing!

Love mine but has anyone figured an easy way to use a normal prop on it? I am flying it with 4S 1500mah and would like to use an APC 12X6E on it.

Hi Ian - Looking at the pictures the wheels look tiny and that prop Massive !!! - Now that is how all maidens should be - If its possible on mine I will look at adding larger wheels - although it seems to handle your grass well -Any possibility to enlarge the battery bay ? - Yes as you say the Cub is no rocket ship its all about nice gentle flying - as you say scale.. both of you take care - Martyn
Hi Martyn, I did think about putting larger wheels on it, but decided to keep it like a standard Cub!! I did have to cut some foam out in order to move the ESC and I filed some plastic out of the bulkhead in an effort to be able to move the battery packs around to adjust the CG but it struggled to take my new 3s 2200mah 30c packs!! Great maiden Ian, do love the red on the Cub. Nice paint details you done as well. Those wheels do look small for some reason, effortless fligjt, nice 👍🏻

Hi Ian - great maiden flight. Did you have the same problem has the FMS Super EZ, the reflex system had to be wired up differently than in the instructions?.
Hi Colin, I had the Fms Beaver with the Reflex Gyro a while back and discovered that the throttle has to go to channel 1 and not 3 especially if your using Spektrum receivers!! I then plug the S Bus cable to the gear channel and then put the gear channel on a 3 position switch and it works perfectly giving Optimised, stabilised and Off, thanks for watching and commenting 😀👍
Definitely a beauty! I'm a huge fan of clear windows, windshield and a scale pilot figure (that's one reason the Maule is my number one plane) and that Cub sure looks great. Nice takeoff and especially landing with those tiny tires, easy to do a nose-over I bet landing in grass with those, but you had it under control. It's about time FMS beefed up thier landing gear, LOL! Excellent Maiden and camerawork by Cheryl. Enjoy that sweet addition to your fleet, Ian!

very nice ! have a great week..I installed a little larger 2 1/2" Dave Brown light foam treaded wheels...there's a slot cut in the axle end for an 'E' clip..not as scale but work great 😀

Yes Eric when I did the unboxing my mate Jerry whose Dad owned a J3 Cub pointed out that a solo flight in a Cub is done from the rear seat!! But it doesn't matter really does it!! Thanks for watching and commenting 😀👍

I just got one, my smallest 3s battery doesn't fit. That's a small battery compartment. What battery did you use?
Hi Gary I used a 3s 2200mah 25c pack, but I found the battery bay very small, and had to compress the foam in order to be able to get the batteries right in place!! It's the only down side to a nice model 😀👍

Was surprised how easily it took off and landed with those dinky (scale) wheels. Lovely little model, and looking better for your extra detailing 😍 The pilot looked very relaxed not 🤢after the maiden. Nicely put together video 👍
Yes in the past Carl I've had Planes with much bigger wheels struggle to take off, I think it's because they're very wide!! It was a dream to fly, thanks Carl for watching and commenting 😀👍

Beautiful flight Ian… well flown. A beaut looking aircraft & love the clear cockpit ( ideal for a small camera inside). Even the gulls were cheering you on. Excellent filming Cheryl.

This Cub is so sweet. I love to toss mine around like crazy but it also looks so nice flying slow and gentle. It surprised me how agile it is even on 3s.
Well on my 5th flight this morning I was chucking it around and gave it a load of rudder and it tipped a wing and went into a spiral, I just managed to save it about 6ft off the ground, unfortunately I wasn't filming!! It would have made a great video, thanks for watching and commenting 😀👍

@@IansRCExploits i took off and i noticed something was wrong. then some wind blew and it fell from the skies. i had to buy new motor shaft. now it has kinda cracked front. i fixed it by adding a lot of weights on the front. now it flies great. btw i absolutely love the looks of this beautiful plane. keep your content up i really enjoy watching it bro.
Aww that's a shame!! Yes it is a lovely flying Cub!! What I did was made the battery bay a little bit bigger so I could push the batteries that little bit further forward, thank you for watching and commenting 😀👍

@@IansRCExploits I bought one yesterday, the pa-18 was out of stock and a few months away! First job is to put some larger wheels on it.
I like the fact that it's more scale looking than the PA-18 Super Cub!! I get a bit fed up with all the stickered windowed model planes, I like the fact that it has a glazed cockpit, sadly because of the small J3 wheels I only get to fly mine in the summer when the grass is dry and short 😒
@@IansRCExploits Yeah I feel the same way about the scale look. It was high on the list even when I was looking at the pa-18. Ive got a couple of sets of large dubro wheels I will try and fit to it, my only thoughts so far is that the axles are not very long, so they may not fit without modification. I have considered 3d printing some new hubs that will work with the big tyres and short factory axles
Sounds good, I've got quite a few big wheeled stol planes so I.wanted to keep the Cub standard 😀👍
