Edit: This was from 2 years ago, perfume is NOT enough. PAVA works better, but if you can't afford anything like PAVA or pepper spray. *Hornet/wasp spray, carburetor cleaner, or break cleaner* are WAY better alternatives than perfume. That's not to say perfume won't completely work, it can depending on the brand, and quantity.
Perfume is enough, always bring it around you. When needed spray it in attackers eyes.

@@anitabonghit2758 So even if that was true about "men being the protectors" you think men should be able to use women like objects? That women deserve to be treated like pieces of meat? That we don't deserve to have respect or feel safe when we are alone? I'm an advocate for all gender equality. I don't think men are superior or women are superior. In the end we are both people, people who struggle in different varieties of life but also share similar struggles and societal standards that connect us and don't make us that different from each other. I understand that the motive you come from is one of narrow-minded beliefs and I don't blame you because most beliefs stem from propaganda or the environment you grow around. It's not fair, both are unfair, not a woman's life or man's life have more or less worth. However, it seems there is inequality that comes talking in terms of human decency. Without the standards, without the roles, women and men are just people at the end of the day and it is unfair that women are being stripped of human decency and respect, something that every person no matter gender should have, that they have to go about everyday fearing rape, being targeted, or kidnapped when walking alone or being out at night

One time I was in the mall with my mom and dad, and I had gotten lost and I went to the jewelry store to ask the man that worked there if they could call my parents and tell them I was waiting at the store for them because I got lost. While I waited, a man tried to grab me and after my parents found me, I told them what had happened. We went to a mall a few miles away from the first mall and I saw him again. I’m still traumatized. Just realised I miss going through the security gates! 😆); a small can of either Tea-tree Oil spray or insect repellent, both of which sting like crazy in the eyes and are momentarily blinding...there's heaps of substitutes when you start thinking about it. Nothings has actually happened to me before, but I used to walk home from school and was suuuuuuper paranoid, I have some pretty good tips tho:
-if you’re on the side walk and you start to see a sus car/van slow down or somthing, casually speed up/slow down and stay behind a parked car next to the sidewalk(you don’t necessarily have to hide, just continue walking there) it makes it a lot less convient for them to pull over and talk to you, plus you have that extra car as a barrier
    - I used to have a lunchbox with a metal water bottle in it which I would carry, so whenever I had to walk past someone I thought was sus, I would switch the hand hold the lunchbox to the one closest to where I would pass the person, It would make it easier to hit them with it and I knew it would’ve hurt bc my metal water bottle
-act and walk very confidently, predators/creeps/whatever else can be more drawn to girls that looks shy or submissive(ew that word is gross but you know what I mean), hold you head high!

I used to walk from my school to my sibling's school to get picked up by my mom and she always told me to never walk close to the road, always stay on the "inside" part of the sidewalk. She also told me to stay by a group of other students who were also walking (I usually just walked a few feet behind people) because it's harder to take someone when there are people around. (My school wasn't in a bad area but it's better to be safe than sorry)

If I feel someone behind me I laugh like I've remembered something funny and I start skipping quickly. If the person/car speeds up, I get my weapons and alarm sorted out (they're disguised so I can take them to school) and run.

I felt a sudden guilt and the guy was in pain and I went upto him he said "run" and he weakly stood up and kicked someone behind me I was shocked and I cut the another guy's ankel too and I helped the first guy up and took him to the hospital.....
Turns out that guy saw me being followed by a creepy guy and followed me into the store and tried to protect me and he said "you walked so fast I tried to catch up to you because the guy was across the street and when you were about to tie your laces I was gonna tell you but you just cut my ankel" I was so sorry for him I paid his hospital bills and thanked him for it and what happens to the other guy he is in jail maybe....

Storytime: I was walking alone to my car after my college class (it was dark). I saw a teenage guy on his skateboard who was far away but he caught up to me. I heard his skateboard come closer and closer towards my direction (he was behind me) and I kept walking to the side to leave room for him to pass but i heard the wheels of his skateboard coming directly to me. I wanted to turn to see what he was doing but I was paralyzed from fear and that’s when he passes me as he shoves his hand down my ass and quickly skates away. Since then i check behind me and if there is a man/guy I stop abruptly and turn and wait until he passes me because I rather walk behind them

I don’t know if it’s because of the anniversary of my past trauma or because of our world and the current state we’re living in, but has anyone else recently started just binging these types of videos ? Like, I’ve always had anxiety about safety, but again, I have trauma. But lately, it’s not the same kind of fear. It’s not fear of what *has* happened to me reoccurring. It’s the fear of what *hasn’t* happened and *could* happen. I am used to having fear about specific things. But now, I have this fear of even leaving my house sometimes. Just yesterday, the cops came to deal with a domestic abuse report a few houses away from me. My sister lived next to people who were arrested for kidnapping a kid. There have been countless amber alerts and missing people reports in my city. I just want to be able to leave my house and feel safe. But it seems like everyday, I just feel more and more anxious and I feel like it’s getting more dangerous to leave my house. I never had a fear just because I was born a woman. How is it that it’s becoming potentially deadly just because of gender? Our world is going downhill fast and no one seems to want to fix it other than women and a select amount of men who see that things are not ok. The amount of questions that run through our heads about our safety should be 0. These are just a few that I know several women- if not all women- ask themselves.
Why do we have to protest for rights we should’ve had already? Why do we have to check under our cars before we get in them? Why do we have to carry mace and knives and alarms just to go on a run or go shopping? Why do we have to feel afraid to go out alone? Why is it so common for us to get raped, abused, drugged and assaulted that it’s made us used to be constantly be tense and alert? Why do we get hate for things we didn’t do? Why do we get shamed for speaking out? Why are we told to stop showing the world that we aren’t safe? Why are survivors blamed for something they had no control over? *Why are we being forced to live in a world where so many people want us to be submissive, quiet, obedient, and be put down instead of lifted up?* What happened to the world when we were kids? When parents and teachers would tell everyone- girls and boys- that we could be anything we wanted to be? That we were going to change the world and make it an amazing place? That we were going to grow up in a safe, happy, and beautiful world?
Now look at us. The women are teens and adults living in a dangerous world where we have very little control over our own lives. And the men? They live in the world we were all promised. They are safer than us. They have more control over things. They have the power to be who they want without fighting for it as much as we do. It’s pathetic that women were never given the world we were told we would get. It’s pathetic that we got the exact opposite of what we were told. I refuse to live in this world. We need to do better. We need to *be* better. Because if we don’t, what’s gonna happen to the next generation? Are we gonna go back in time to when women were baby-makers and stayed in the kitchen and didn’t work? Because if we are, I’m never having kids. I refuse to have kids if I’d be forcing them to live in that world. If I’d be forcing them to be taught that men are superior to women. If you don’t like what I’m saying, then you don’t understand or don’t want to accept that our lives are not what they should be.

Yup, and if that doesn't work, just get one with a *big bark.* Doesn't matter what breed, just one with a big, loud bark. Attackers/kidnappers, etc. are more likely to run away if you have a dog with a big, loud bark than one with a small, quiet one. It can even be one of those ankle-biter dogs, as long as they have a big, loud bark. If you don't have a dog, what I'd do is just go on a iPad or phone and search for dog noises and play it. That way anyone nearby in the dark will think you have a dog and won't attack you. I actually was terrified of dogs when I was little, but now I like dogs. My great aunt actually has a dog and she has a very loud and big bark. She may look intimidating and scary, but she's actually a really nice dog. Stay safe ladies

One thing I use to keep myself safe is singing, now before you think “oh well singing might make you happy but it won’t make you safe” let me explain. I love walking around at night. I find it calming. And I sing because the truth is, people will respond faster to someone going from singing to screaming then from silence to screaming. If for whatever reason you don’t want to sing, u can do this; if someone is following you or stalking you; go crazy I’m talking straight out of a psycho ward/mental facility I’m talking crab walking while screaming the abcs to the tune of living on a prayer I swear the weirdo will freak out.
Another thing you can do is fake a phone call. If this is happening during or after corona you can use this
Talk about random stuff like a movie or something. If you have no idea what to talk about talk about gift ideas for a friend’s birthday.
Being on a phone call will make you seem like you’re not alone
    Or you can say “no I haven’t gotten my test results for the coronavirus.” If this is happening after COVID say this instead;
“No I haven’t gotten my test results for the phidomi virus. Did you know it’s supposed to be the next coronavirus?”
The stalker won’t want whatever you have.

Wow, we can vote, that's like the bare minimum in an actual democracy. Now how about you actually teach men not to rape instead of pushing ideas that make women the one at fault for their own assault. How about you stop teaching *five year old girls* to not wear tank tops because it's "distracting" and instead tell those five year old boys that being mean to his school yard crush is bad so he doesn't grow up thinking that treating someone you love like shit is normal.

Don't bother trying to get most of these tools and focus on getting alarms and or the seat belt/window breaker. Also learn the self defense moves. Or else you'll just get attacked and land in jail.
p.s. Instead of trying to get pepper spray which is illegal in Canada to carry unless you're in an area with known bear populations. (AND if you get caught with that mace outside of a forest your done) Anyways!! My point is... Pick up a mini bottle of hair spray. Use it as pepper spray. Its undetectable as a weapon once used it's not a suspicious thing to carry. Hope this helps!

It’s sad we live in a world like this 😔
It’s also sad that us women have to defend ourselves from men in many different ways
As a girl myself I’m scared for my future. I’m only 14 but I understand what women go through
I hope if I ever have a daughter in the future I’ll teach her how to defend herself and if I have a son I’ll educate him too ❤️❤️
To all women, don’t let yourself be used or hurt by anyone else especially men
We are strong humans and we need to work together to keep each other safe ❤️❤️❤️
Come on ladies let’s show what we’re made of! ✨❤️✌️

I’ve had an unconditional from my 1st choice uni, and the course is just perfect for me...but it’s just in a really high crime-rate city...people literally stand outside of student halls waiting to mug you from what some alumni have said. It scares me a lot but I’m in love with the course and it’s a Russel group uni, so I’m very torn. I’m not confident in self defence and I can’t afford replacement items such as laptops and phones... definitely getting pepper spray and a taser 😂
