Grab and kiss her, when she least expects it. (and when the setting is right) you will not be friends after that ^^ (tho you might also not be lovers ether)
the redness of the copper indicates this excessively strong acid treatment can be pretty rough on it. Use a 10% solution of phosphoric acid, recirculate with a bilge pump and bucket and hoses, and take your time. see me do in on Fisher 30 Pacific Child
Capt Larry, you pinpointed the problem. The aggressive acid removed the zinc from the brass alloy, a process known as de- zincing, leaving a rough, soft, and brittle copper sponge at the surface. This sponge structure increases the surface allowing for a faster build up of scale or even cause leakage. In order to avoid that, I recommend descalers with a ph value above 7, prepare by carefully removing chunks of scale mechanically, and if I has to be acid, use less concentrated citric acid and limit the exposure to a minimum. The ducts dont have to be squeaky clean, it is enough if the water can flow freely and heat can be exchanged
when you are stuck at home during 2020 and watched so much TH-cam that you are now being suggested videos about how Barnacle Buster works I dont even own a boat... hell I dont even live anywhere close to an ocean and my dayjob is a UI/UX designer..
Sea Flush and similar is some kind of acid, most probable phosphoric acid or H3PO4. Vinegar is a 5-20% acetic acid (CH3COOH) solution. It works much slower and it probably requires that the solution is replaced a couple of times, Concentrated acetic acid will work just as good as phosphoric acid. Take care when diluting an acid. Always pour acid into water, - not the other way around.
What's the chemical composition of that barnacle buster thingy? Since it helped dissolve the calcium carbonate, I assume that it is acidic; protonating the carbonate ions, therefore unabling Ca²+ ions to form CaCO3. But I don't think it's just a simple acidic solution
Ameerhun1996 I did a lot of descaling of chillers, and boilers in the 90's using hydrochloric acid. After sodium bicarb treatment,we would run a molybdenum solution in the closed loop to slow the "cancer" the acid would create.
I'm not a boat person but presumably that heat exhanger takes the heat out of the coolant by passing seawater through. Avoiding circulating seawater through the engine and taking one for the team in the process?
I expect the answer will be one of disclaimer and/or non-endorsement but... can this be used to treat household plumbing and water heaters? Maybe propose the idea to your R&D group. A few gallons of this could be a hell of lot less expensive and invasive that re-piping.
Dont put this in your camper tank. Empty it. Fill it with water and empty it again. Get an actual "holding tank cleaner" and put it in and follow its instructions. Replace your coroded sensor after cleaning the tank.
I still don't get it. I have a 40 year old Engine. It is Saltwatercooled and has a later added secondary coolant system, like the cars. I don't know how bad it is, but I want to sail over the atlantic and want to clean the watersystem while everything is still connected. I don't want to damage any rubber Gaskets from the Heatexchanger. What Product must I buy? What should I get without making any damage to the materials.
Use the right automotive cooling system cleaner... or even dish washer powder or tablets.. drive for 10 miles... job done... and your engine block and radiator are all cleaned too...

Seems so much things people are interested in has been put on Googles shitlist, that all that is left to recommend is things nobody is interested in. Way to go TH-cam!
I see u got rid of the build up but I didn’t see any barnacles or barnacle bases get removed. I’m a marine contractor and even though that shit says “barnacle buster” it doesn’t work well for that AT ALL.
Couldn't you just use vinager? Over here it's about £1 a litre not sure what that is in old fashioned measurements, about a dollar for two pints I think.
I mean, its a legitamite question due to hard water usually being calcium deposits, and most of that buildup is calcium based. If its an acid, organic compounds break down under it so i was just wondering if it would work
Where are you going to mount the radiator on a boat? Inside the cabin....in the Tropics? Outside on the deck? Water is so much more efficient at removing heat... and you are trying to heat the whole ocean... so unlimited heat transfer....
600K people who don't own a boat and got this through youtube recommendations..."nice"
nice

Exactly what I did.
Can confirm...
peasants
And on the next episode of “TH-cam Recommendations”, we present the Barnicle Buster. Something most of you will probably never use in your lifetime.
I love this. I wish we would have had this when my parents had the boat. It wouldve had a lot longer service life.
I leave this under every video I watched, it helps the algorithm.
I'll take it!
guess it worked lol
Found this video by accident, but I’m genuinely impressed!
i don't own a boat, nor do i know the first thing about their maintenance, but this is a damn good ad
Is it strong enough to remove someone from friendzone?
Grab and kiss her, when she least expects it. (and when the setting is right)
you will not be friends after that ^^
(tho you might also not be lovers ether)
Nothing is strong enough to remove someone from the friendzone.
th-cam.com/video/rTEJiLvKOfQ/w-d-xo.html Your welcome.
so satisfying
Why am I watching this? I don't even own a boat.
And yet it's still interesting.
If you have an old boiler in your home to heat water to warm the house it would probably descale the pipe and boiler.

@@christianselbach3455 where u from Mr. Selbach?
I thought I had just discovered this video, but no apparently I liked some comments here 1 or 2 years ago
Clearly a memorable event in your life lol
happens when you drink and TH-cam
POV: You don't own a boat.
I used to recondition Diesel engines for a living and cleaning those heat exchangers can be a pain the ass especially the inside of the fins
Somebody actually wanted money for that heat exchanger?

I will tell my boat owning step grandpa of this next time I meet him, if I remember
when you are stuck at home during 2020 and watched so much TH-cam that you are now being suggested videos about how Barnacle Buster works

I don’t own a boat, yet I find this interesting.
while i may never use this, it is damn cool to watch

Can I use it for an outboard motor Yamaha??????
Water into acid? Got it
i should give it a shot, might save me some time one maintenance of my imaginary boat
I like to clean stuff so thanks. Satisfying video.
I don't even own a boat but I want to buy this product.
I dont even have a boat, yet this was recommended by yt. LoL
What's the chemical composition of that barnacle buster thingy? Since it helped dissolve the calcium carbonate, I assume that it is acidic; protonating the carbonate ions, therefore unabling Ca²+ ions to form CaCO3. But I don't think it's just a simple acidic solution
Phosphoric Acid.
Judging from the amount of copper it pulled off,it better come with a hell of a neutralizing solution.
Mike D You could use sodium bicarbonate, easy to get
Ameerhun1996
I did a lot of descaling of chillers, and boilers in the 90's using hydrochloric acid.
After sodium bicarb treatment,we would run a molybdenum solution in the closed loop to slow the "cancer" the acid would create.
You can get 35% phosphoric acid cheap from any dentist/medical supply company. I use it for cleaning our residential tankless water heater.
I'm not a boat person but presumably that heat exhanger takes the heat out of the coolant by passing seawater through. Avoiding circulating seawater through the engine and taking one for the team in the process?
Can u run thru outboard to descale salt residue
Thats fantastic! Gotta git ne some of them barnacle descalers. Yep.
Do you think this would work on water heater heating elements?
Yes
You can also use white vinegar for smaller items.
How dangerous is this to the metal, and would it be safe to run through an outboard powerhead?
I expect the answer will be one of disclaimer and/or non-endorsement but... can this be used to treat household plumbing and water heaters? Maybe propose the idea to your R&D group. A few gallons of this could be a hell of lot less expensive and invasive that re-piping.
Nice product. But does it damage or corrode rubber gaskets etc.?
Wonder how well this would clean camper septic tanks and most importantly corroded tank sensors
Dont put this in your camper tank.
Empty it. Fill it with water and empty it again.
Get an actual "holding tank cleaner" and put it in and follow its instructions.
Replace your coroded sensor after cleaning the tank.
Um....you got any more videos like this?
could do the same thing with white vinegar in a giant pot just put it over heat to get the vinegar boiling and speed up the reaction
Wow. That's very impressive.
It worked great on my heat exchanger
youtube: yeah, watch this
me: why would I?

me 3 mins later: thanks, youtube gods. you never disappoint

I'd use simple white vinegar and hot water to do the same trick
and it would take a month
Will it work on my waterboiler in the house?
Ive tried barnacle cleaner its not as good as tide pods.
I am guessing it is mainly Sulfamic Acid?
Can Sea Flush be used to clean the waste water sludge sticking to the plastic walls?
Chloridric acid does the same for a fraction of the price of sea flush ! 1 gallon of home depot descaler is $35
Would in water diluted vinegar work too?
It looked like a metal watch he found on there at first.
Wow! Any downside?
Da opening on the back reminds me of my best friends maza
Could this work on heater cores for a truck
Use the right automotive cooling system cleaner...
or even dish washer powder or tablets..
drive for 10 miles...
job done...
and your engine block and radiator are all cleaned too...
What about disposal of the used cleaner?
Color suggests that barnacle buster is EDTA = ethylene-diamine-tetra-acetic acid ??
where i can buy it ? prefferable in Brazil ! thanks in advance, regards
Surely this is just a bottle of acid, anything acidic would do exactly the same thing.
So muriatic acid with blue dye and a label?
$145 in an unusable condition... whats it worth now that you cleaned it up lol ???
TheFassold o,m,g.
That is a rare early gray marine 671 heat echanger no longer in production
Is this safe for aluminium and magnesium
can I use this in my outboard motor? and what about my car engine?
Keeshen Bissette no
wait... so can I winterize with this stuff??
why didnt it say part 2 in the title?
Nice.😎 So i can use this in cooling system of my truck as well? Wont it eat up the seals and gaskets?? O rings???
Use the right automotive cooling system cleaner...
or even dish washer powder or tablets..
drive for 10 miles...
job done...
and your engine block and radiator are all cleaned too...
Could you use to descale diesel truck coolant systems?
Neighbors lawn
ever heard of clr?
jay Tarantula. No. CLR is too weak to really eat all of that junk..
Muratic Acid?
It’s hydrogen peroxide and vinegar. Easily bought for under $20 for a gallon. You’re welcomed!
Impressive ✔️
Nice chunk of copper
jesus christ! that stuff is powerful
Good stuff
How about 5 gallons of simple vinegar
I like citric acid. I imagine it's a cheaper choice.
Now that's how you advertise!
Seems so much things people are interested in has been put on Googles shitlist, that all that is left to recommend is things nobody is interested in. Way to go TH-cam!

Good condition will use it
holy shit 666 subscribers :O
I prefer Hull Blow over Barnacle Buster.
I don't know why but I thought that this component was part of a toilet.
2:05 what a place to see my name
Couldn't you just use vinager? Over here it's about £1 a litre not sure what that is in old fashioned measurements, about a dollar for two pints I think.
Cool even though I don’t own a boat.
Sham-Wow!
Will this remove fleas on my cat ?
the propeller will do that just fine
Use citric acid. Way cheaper and does exactly the same thing. Mercedes Marine engines sells this stuff themselves for the same purpose
The more you know:) thanks
Battery Acid would be a whole lot cheaper...
What a load of barnacles
nice
Could you use these in a toilet?
My thought exactly. I've got some really hard water and one of my toilets is so built up with deposits that only a screwdriver seems to affect it.
I dont think thats hard water.
I laughed too fucking hard at this
I mean, its a legitamite question due to hard water usually being calcium deposits, and most of that buildup is calcium based. If its an acid, organic compounds break down under it so i was just wondering if it would work
Clay Loomis Thats piss build up bro.
What a load of barnacles.
Looks like muriatic acid from The hardware store with a new name and 4x the price.
Cool
Without removing any parts? So is this solution released into the environment?
No; recirculated and finally caught in that bucket as shown on the last few seconds of the vid...
it can be used again as it is expensive.
Just put it in Hydrochloride..
do it twice !
Blistering Barnacles
This kills the heat exchanger
this is probably the worlds largest rc helicopter
I know is not an rc...
Como vim parar aqui
CLR?
Why heat exchanger instead of radiator ?
Where are you going to mount the radiator on a boat?
Inside the cabin....in the Tropics?
Outside on the deck?
Water is so much more efficient at removing heat...
and you are trying to heat the whole ocean...
