Very enjoyable ride. Haven't done that trip since l was a kid as I've been living in Queensland for the last 30 years so thanks for taking the time to do it and for keeping the interest by editing all the traffic lights and tram stops
It is a long time since I did this trip, I used to be a conductor on the Melbourne trams back in the early 1970s, always loved the old rattlers both here in Adelaide and Melbourne, Cheers.
@@leniere309 Well in the 70s there was nothing but Ws and similar. When I started in 1987 there was a mix of old and new. Ws on cold winter nights were no fun.
Hope you like it there. Can get a bit hot in summer. Years ago there were plans for various extensions here and there, but after a few changes of government, I think they all became forgotten.
@@tressteleg1 Me too , I'm moving to Stirling, in the Hills , right on the mainline at Mt' Lofty Station. Only 15mins to the city and 5 deg cooler, but low humidity which will be great! Lets hope the future will reignite light rail in cities? Gregg😉
To both of you, I think it was Labor around the time that botanical and entertainment lines were built that others were also proposed. Then the liberals got in and killed it, and Labor has never revived.
@peterl1964 generally, yes, but in NSW it was Labor who always was anti-tram but now they seem to be supporting continuing of the Parramatta Light Rail project.
Awesome video mate i was wondering sorry I'm saying the same question but if you can could you film Keon park level crossing removal works on Mernda line and trains are now running on new city bound rail bridge and trains running on Mernda bound below ground and a lot works happening and they staring to build new Keon park elevated station and finished by spring this year😊
@@hassansayyab1194 it’s not your fault. I don’t expect people to remember when I come to Melbourne, but if you happen to remember in the future, it’s any time from mid January into March. We will just have to see what my driver ends up with.

I suspect the problem lies with the transport operators. They seem to take all their information from Melbourne which is not exactly the best in the world and has no priority at all, just some token gestures which help trams at a limited number of locations. I suspect that the government has never been asked for help in this regard.
@@peterausfranken Ha ha! I suppose that you know that Aldi has been here for quite a while but the market share is still only about 10%. There is none really convenient to me and as some products I like are big brand names and Aldi stocks home brand type stuff, I have no need for them.
@@tressteleg1 I know Aldi is in Australia and also in a lot of other countries. Here in germany Aldi is the number one in discount Supermarket. They have a lot of home Brands. The most of the come from the same place as the big brands and have the same quality but are much cheeper. In Europa there ist a producation Code with 8 numbers, and with a little help from Google you can find out were these home brands come from.

@@MartintheTinman Well something must have changed since my visit. At that time, I had nothing but cooperation from every driver I asked on the subject. Maybe the foreigners who had/have the operating contract were behind this.
@tressteleg1 no, it was just tyrants. People don't like the look of me. I get called the P word all the time while filming Trains and I've been assaulted for it too
@ That is absolutely terrible. Perhaps the fact that you were an employee helped circulate your appearance so they are all out looking for you. Unfortunately many people are happy to believe derogatory rumours about somebody rather than their good side.
@ That would have been fun, even if driving up and down the same line forever. I first visited in 1965 and in those days it was easy to get a ‘sly drive’ at night. Finding the tram stops in the dark was the hardest bit. My time at South Melbourne was similar - 1988 to 1994 and I drove W A B and Z classes as well as most of the Vintage trams. No matter what tram type or route I had, I was happy to do something different the next week. Good fun in those days. Not now. This may interest you. Good, but camera is focussed on tram interior.
I was using a GoPro camera (which subsequently died!) and essentially there is no control over the field of vision without losing a lot of sharpness.
