5100's are not only reasonably priced but also very good shock absorbers. I have noticed that they are quite popular in Utah with many locals using them. Admittedly Fox, Icon (many will totally disagree with this) and King are great but from a price point of view they are quite expensive. Bilstein scored a home run with the 5100's.
How was the puck 2.5” level held up? Any wear and tear on other front suspension parts? It’s something I have considered for so long but unsure about the install.
@@Autofreakgarage cool I’ll have to look into the brand you’re using. How much was it to have it installed along with hardware? Unsure if I wanna do this myself or have it done haha
So for clarification. Did you install the front 5100’s with the spring height set to the stock setting and then add the strut spacers to the top of them? I’m trying to figure out how I want to do mine. I have the 5100’s and I want the front leveled out, but I don’t want to add more preload to the stock springs in order to level the truck. Thanks in advance.
@@Autofreakgarage Does it preform well off road? I’m pretty sure on road it’s better than factory ride, I’m just curious to know about the off road characteristics
I don’t do much off roading so I can’t say. Although, going over rougher roads I do feel a big jump in stability of the truck. It feels way more composed and level instead of bouncing all around.
this may be a dumb question but i have a drop kit on my 2017 f150 regular cab. 2 inches in the front 4 in the rear. when replacing the shocks do i need to get specific shocks since i have the drop kit or does it not matter?
I have a 3.5 inch lift would these Bilstein 5100 still work on my setup you think? I know you have a leveling kit, I just don't want to spend for Fox Shocks the Bilstein 5100 is what I'm thinking. Just not sure if the Bilstein will fit for my 3.5' lift. I'll have to go either to Parts Source or Action truck accessories to see. Just thought I'd ask you first seeing as these are what I want to run on my truck.
Nice truck looks great I have a question I leveled my 2015 f150 put 22’s on 33inch tires I love the look it still ride pretty good but when I’m driving with any speed and hit bumps it tends to leave the ground in the back I was just ask do you think upgrading my struts would help that problem it almost seems as if it’s fish tailing of something but if I put weight in the back maybe 200 pounds or so it doesn’t do it
@@Autofreakgarage Aaaaaaaaaaa. Ok. How would i go about getting my car out of high traction mode. I live in a winter wonderland and the car likes to slide on the current tires. The dash does a little light dance, turns off bsd, dccd, srh, locks my diff, traction light and abs light stay on.
I concur on the 5100's. I installed the 5100's all 4 on my 2013 Ram 1500 4x4 and what a difference, worth every cent.
Just here for the F150, keep it up!

Totally fine. Not a single issue. Over 20k with them and looks as good as the day they were installed. No adverse effects at all.

I’ve got a 2018 F150 I’m going to use it as a daily do you think I should put these 5100 or go another route?
I’ve been very happy with the 5100’s. Use the truck everyday and it’s noticeably more compliant and comfortable than stock struts.

Yes that is how I am running them. Wanted them in the middle setting and not mess with the spring preload so I left the maxtrack level kit on top.

@@Autofreakgarage okay cool. Thank You responding. I really appreciate it.
You can also set the shock to 2 inch lift, then add a 0.5 strut spacer so you don’t preload the shock.
Did you remove the leveling puck in the front when you install those 5100s or you kept it on?
Kept them on
How does this work without coming with the plate and spring for adjusting them does it use stock hardware then?
It uses the perch to lower and raise on the strut front the stock components.

I would assume you would need specific shocks due to the setup you are running so they are properly damped.
This shocks are 5100 or b8 5100 I want to upgrade mine is 2018 f150 3.5 mine is stock

The fronts have 3 levels to bump the front up but not sure if they would work with a full lift kit already install.
Hey man, I was curious if you still rub on them crash bars when turning into a parking lot ot over a lipped curb.
It only rubs at full lock in reverse. Forward, no issues at all.

It would definitely help keep the rear down. But keeping weight in the bed will help keep the rears tires planted.
@@Autofreakgarage sorry I have a question, does the Bilstein 5100 fits in a f150 2016, mine it's the XL rear wheel drive
Yes
Are those 35’s?
33
Is your truck black or Magnetic gray? It looks like the bumpers and grill is darker than the body paint.
Tuxedo black. Taking care of that in the next video 👍🏻
Are you running the stock springs with the upgraded struts? P.S. RT is only 30 mins from me! Cool coincidence
Yes stock springs
Nice truck. What offset do you have ?

Looks good. How do I get this smoother nice ride with my subi?
A proper coilover setup will help balance things out.
Cygnus makes a comfort edition coilover which are essentially modified Fortune Auto 500 coilovers.
I’m still in shock!!!
I respect your decision 5100 blistein are the best I need front and back shocks on my 2008 toyota sequoia limited big improvement
Any hints on what’s coming next!? BMW, Porsche!???
Once I get things sorted out, I’ll be sure to update everyone which direction I’ll be going.
Gota get that front air damn removed imo. It'll make your truck look taller too
I had it off for a while but wasn’t a fan of the look. Prefer it with the air dam there.
Sad to hear the Sti is leaving 😢
Really hoping to see a Porsche in the garage 🤞
Are you planning on swapping platforms? Perhaps bmw?
I’ll be updating everyone once I get things settled and worked out. Trust the process 👍🏻
