Just finished watching the film literally ten minutes ago, and recognising this song and knowing where it was going, combined with the characters and the emotions and the wrap-up of the story...was just fucking magnificent. One of the all-time best sequels, to say the least!
T2 Trainspotting perfectly completes the entire story created by Boyle. While the first film serves to show us a journey of guilt and penance for the characters, T2 works as a redemption for those who are left of the group. They continue to suffer and pay for what they did in the past, but even so, those who choose life have managed to overcome the mistakes of the past. The world changes, even if we don't. This is the philosophy that follows throughout the film.
I was kind of lost in my 20s. Now I'm 39 and I have my life in order and am living well. The journey of life has it's obstacles, it's how we overcome them that determines us.
I saw this in the cinema about 5 times, I wanted to absorb it as much as I could, i only saw the first trainspotting years after. I was not going to make this mistake again. great two films.

It's a different movie, ofc the first one is a cult, but T2 is an instant classic. The worth sequel: Trainspotting must be watched in your 20's when you feel unstoppable, T2 must be watched once you pass your 30's, when life has slapped your face with the hard truth.
