It was a blast reconnecting with you Rob. The only downside to the festival is not having enough time to keep hanging out with everyone. Till next time.
I'll second this comment. From experience with their customer service as well as understanding they have the best night lighting on the market! Huge fan of this company.
The outbound lights are fully contained but they ALSO can run with an external cable and battery. So if you have the light on full blast and the battery dies, you can plug in a battery pack through the usb-c port and keep riding!
I've been lusting after a wooden frame since I started riding, what a cool production method to drop weight and and reinforce things where needed. I'd kill to get on one of those. Absolutely gorgeous
Hey. I’ve literally been pronouncing it wrong for years until I listened to a podcast last week, in which I also learned Kuat is not pronounced Kwaht. The bike world is filled with difficult to pronounce brand names. Still not sure on Fizik.
@@loganmumma3337 My brain wants to pronounce Fizik as physic, but I think it's actually pronounced like physique (which makes sense since they make seats and what not).
Looked like an amazing event with awesome riding and meeting cool people. I still have a soft spot for Thomson stuff. Sadly, once I started using a dropper I moved away from their seatpost and stems. But for nearly 20 years straight all of my bikes had a Thomson seatpost and stem. At times I had 3 or 4 bikes. Even my road bike had a Thomson combo. And those rigs on show there were sick! Had me drooling big time. Never heard of Boone, but wow. Can't wait to learn more about them. Those cranks look amazing, and titanium in the works... yes please.
So good to see some seriousness with hardtail manufacturers, some beautiful looking hardtails there. Really want go to Sedona festival one day (all the way from Australia) A dream of mine. Thanks for the in-depth look at Smf :)
It was a great mix of coverage. Sure, you got some companies you are associated with but you are also spotlighting smaller companies, "Made in the USA" companies, and some of the volunteers that make these events possible. Good job!
Yoo man I love your videos, I was at the Bike valet the whole weekend I was volunteering and I saw you come by man I got so star struck, Dam I should of said what’s up. Love u man keep up the good content 🤙
Oh man, I wish you had said something. I'm just a regular dude, no need to feel star struck. Though I understand. I had a few starstruck moments at the fest too.
I been riding a set of crankbrothers carbon synthesis rims with factor hubs for 6+ months on my FS bike(s) on the colorado eastern front range and love them. Also rode some Nobl TR41 on hydra hubs and really like those too, but sold them as part of a bike sale.
Man, I can't believe I failed on that left turn on your channel!!! I want a redo! LOL. hey, that was so much fun! This was my second ride on my new full squish, and after riding hardtails, and watching you session those features like a king, I have a whole new appreciation for your skill level !!!!
Well done on the Boone Cogs. I have THE FIRST microspline cog they made - I sent my wheel, they were able to get the dimensions off it and now they are in production. I have approximately 1,000 miles on it so far and it looks great.
Great job Steve. I definitely saw a few products I could use. That Outbound Evo, and those Gortex Five Tens would be great for fat biking up here in these New England winters.
Looks like a great event! I have the Outbound Lighting Hangover light and it is very high quality. One cool feature is that it allows for pass thru charging while you are using the light via the usb cable and a cell phone charging battery, which is nice if you plan to spend 2+ hours riding at night or if you need to run the light on the full power setting.
Outbound Lights are amazing. I’ve completely ditched 8k lumens of NR stuff and exclusively use OB lights. Their service is INSANELY GOOD, and the lights are even better. I use mine twice a week every week and usually run just my Evo for most of my ride, only kicking up the power and turning on the Hangover for ripping really fast/tech stuff.
My girlfriend got me some of the 510 trailcross xt’s for my birthday last week, been rocking them since and theyre great crazy grippy and no more mud and stones going in the top of my shoes
Great video. Learned recently on the Bikes or Death podcast that Mone Bikes is pronounced "Money" Bikes. It blew my mind, but he does make truly amazing frames.
Looks like Sedona was a great time all round! Also unrelated to Sedona, did you see the new range of the Commencal Meta HT? They're now doing an XS size with a 27.5 front and a 26 inch rear! Honestly sounds perfect for smaller riders like myself.
hehe I think I spied a Brian ;) This looks so fun I need to get out to Sedona and come see the MTB festival next year. Long trip out of Florida but seems well worth the effort
Synthesis is too narrow for me but I like the concept of spoke tension and count. For reference I have been going wider rims in the front for years but it’s i30 rear 35 front or i35 rear 40 front, then 40 rear 45 front on my 27.5plus wheel set
I can’t say enough about Outbound Lights - I have their Trail Evo and the Hangover, and I LOVE their beam patterns and the longevity. Buy a set and shred!
I'm going to look into them. I was surprised by how affordable they were in comparison to some others. It's getting way too dark in the midwest too early.
Not related, but I will buy a medium ragley big al and build it up and I already have Marine alpine mountain 2, with fox suspension and maxxis tyres, do you think having 2 hardtail is too much ?
Unfortunately the Thomson frame is outsourced, though I'm sure it's nice quality, but nonetheless it would be cool if it was made in Macon as there aren't a lot of bike manufacturers in the southeast...also kinda surprised it has a 150mm fork with a 66.5 degree HT angle and only fits up to 27.5 x 2.4" tires.
Also it's cool to hear about Boone. I had not heard of them and I like that their stuff is made in GA. And it's nice that the cranks, while not cheap, are a bit more affordable than 5DEV's.
Goretex is pretty useless for shoes in a really wet country. Once the water runs down into your shoes it stays there. After a few hours it always gets in. I was once told by a major UK company that parts of New Zealand didn't buy Goretex for that reason. I was a welsh river surveyor for over a decade; used leather, it dries on your feet.
If you're running waterproof pants over the cuff of your shoe, that shouldn't be an issue, right? I assume most people riding in the wet have waterproof pants too.
@@hardtailparty Well I used to set up two day offroad Endurance events in Wales and virtually nobody wore them, even though they were a kit requirement, unless it was driving rain. Basically when you are riding, even in a welsh spring or autumn the movement of your legs keeps them warm [er until you bonk and get hyperthermia]. The events were 7 hours saturday 5 on sunday with a wild camp, so you carried your tent and food and had a partner for safety. I can't see how you could easily seal the waterproofs at the ankles, most of the water comes off the front wheel upwards from very wet ground. We were given sealskins by the manufacturer one year and they were great at turning feet into prunes. The savvy used to wrap their feet in flimsy plastic bags taped over ordinary socks and change them at night. Absolutely nothing worked 100%. One year IMBA came over and advised us not to ride in the wet. We were much amused.
That Trail 1 bar on the Ripmo REALLY gives it all away 16:04

Loved the festival. It was great meeting you and talking bikes. My favorite was the heyduke. If the stack was higher it would have been a lot better.
Great meeting you too Brent. Did you have a chance to try the Japhy?
