Mr. Olympia will probably always stay as a sideshow, mainstream is just not into it
Yep, especially with the physiques now. Patrick made a good point about how if the Rock owned it, there could be a bridge into movies so that there is more mainstream recognition (it goes both ways), but it wouldn't have the mainstream effect that bodybuilding had back in the day because of all the insulin and growth hormone causing the monsterous size and shape. Pumping Iron, Stallone Movies, Jean Claude Van Damme, Arnold Movies, Hercules, the magazines, etc... were inspiring to those generations because it was attainable and aesthetically pleasing.

Until they clean up the ubiquitous rampant drug abuse it simply cannot go mainstream. At least in other professional sports the drugs are masked under clothes, uniforms and equipment, but bodybuilding is in your face and theres no denying it. And the Rock knows this. He was wise to pass on it, especially if he still plans on running for President. Druggy promoting President ain't a good look.

The majority of people don’t care about guys that take illegal drugs and then are rewarded for taking illegal drugs! It makes me laugh when people are amazed at people when they take performance enhancing drugs and then their performance is enhanced and they look like Superman and then you got fools saying wow that’s impressive 🤦🏼♂️

He’s older now, he may have been as tall as 6’5 when he was younger. My brother was 6’5 at his tallest and he’s around 6’3 and a half nowadays but he’s only in his early forties
Yeah the Rock is 6’2 right now. 6’2 1/2” absolute max. He was somewhere around 6’3 1/2” at his peak

1. He doesn't carry the same energy as other host/interviewers, 2. Valuetainment or PBD podcast doesn't have the same market viewership as podcasts that people in any political belief would tune into
3. It's obvious PBD is a sellout. He goes from asking Rock didn't buy Olympia, to immediately trashing Olympia when Rock said he has no interest in buying it anymore.
PBD's ultimate goes is to get the big interviews with big names and hopefully what he sells to his audience will get him in the elite circles.

Mr. Olympia is about as interesting as watching paint dry. Bodybuilders pushing the limits of the human body assisted with lethal doses of steroids, showing off physiques nobody in their right mind would want to have. Ask a woman if she finds the physiques of Mr. Olympians sexy.
When the whole sport is based on drugs it could be bad press anytime so no major company would want that to explode anytime

I used to be a huge fan of BB. Now I’m older and wiser. Bodybuilding will change COMPLETELY in the next 5-10 years. It may not even be the same sport we know now. To encourage people to f up their bodies with tons of steroids (we’re not talking about only testosterone), stress, food, synthetic oil (look at Hadi!)… athletes look like a fridge nowadays.

Mr. Olympia competitors are just too big for the general public. They aren't aesthetic. The steroid abuse is just too obvious. Physiques like Serge Nubret, Arnold, Franco, Zane are more natural looking. Even Flex Wheeler looks OK. Someone like Nick Walker or Big Ramy is just top much
I think that's why classic is dominating atm. People still love to see genetics freaks but cbum, Wesley and Ramon are changing how we see bodybuilding. It's true, us naturals need a comeback, too much juice on the stage and not enough aesthetics. Turn the spotlight back on to us!😂
