  • From Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr., Carlo Ancelotti's managerial philosophy of befriending his players has played an instrumental role in his successes at Real Madrid, AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and other top football clubs around Europe. This video essay explores this philosophy using anecdotes from Ancelotti's book "Quiet Leadership" to explain why having close relationships with his players is so important to the manager, how these relationships have helped his career, and why language is crucial in getting players to become closer and perform better on the pitch.

When Arda Guler was feeling unsatisfied with his lack of playing time and there were rumours of him going out on loan, Ancelotti made Brahim and Valverde visit him and his big family in a barbecue, to cheer him up. Guler himself said that Ancelotti constantly told him to be patient, and that his time will come.
Ever since that, he scored 5 goals in 5 games, with 5 shots on target.

A lot of people joke about the power of friendship. But the truth is as always in an Ancelotti side, he just always has the best players. Madrid might not have the depth of a Man City to sustain 4 consecutive league titles. But what it has is a bunch of players, most of which are the best in their position, or in the case of Ronaldo, Bale, Karim the dream, Modric, Kroos, Ramos, Casemiro, before now Jude, and Vini, and his all legends team in Milan which sounds stupid when you see the line up. The plan is always simple, “you’re the best players in your position. Prove it and win.” Which is why he’s so successful in the UCL. The champions league is won by stars, always have been.
And with his skills as a manager and his skills managing superstars, considering he most likely handled the most. I can confidently say he’s one of the best if not the best. Which is why he’s the preferred manager for the biggest club in club football and biggest nation in international football. If Don Carlo knows one thing, it’s superstars

There are few types of managers really.
      - The type to handle super stars in big clubs.
      - The type to use a big budget at a big club efectevely and bring long term sucsess.
      - The type to make averadge players or good ones perform above and beyond and win titles.
      - The type to handle teams in bad situations, like a relegation battle.
      - And the type that can develope players and grow a club prepering it for some one that can lead them to titles.
Thouse are all great and needed roles some of which will never get the spotlight.

Ancelotti is so so good to bring up young talents as well coz he plays a paternal figure to them and so they trust him fully. I expect that RM’s new Turkish lad soon become someone in world football ( Guler I think).

A great leader of men doesn’t see himself as the leader of the men! He sees himself as a role player amongst other role players! His ROLE is to lead the ship towards the direction each member of the crew have agreed upon going towards!
Each man is the king of his own kingdom which is SELF! Aka, as a MAN, your job is to be THE BEST at YOUR ROLE as you can be because every moment of your life is a competition between you and yourself to make yourself the proudest you can!
So in the context of football/soccer! The striker is THE KING of the kingdom of striking! The left back is THE KING of the Kingdom of “left backing” etc…… so when all the men gather to talk, all they are doing is sharing is information about THEIR KINGDOMS and Ancelotti role is to share is information about the KINGDOM of Leading….. it’s all built on respect! They respect each other to know that no role is more important than the other! EVERY ROLE is significantly important!

I think Sir Alex also does the same thing in fact when he was in Aberdeen and United almost all the clubs day to day operations were run by him. Like he was the one that tries to find accommodation for new players so they would live close to each other. He also brings the best from each player that’s why his Aberdeen team can win against Real Madrid in 1983 winners cup.

Very nice video & informative. I do like to think that Antonio Pintus, his fellow Italian & Real Madrid's fitness coach also help foster the togetherness inside the club.
When Pintus left Inter for Real, I remember Ashley Young thanking him via social media.
Kinda gutted that Conte didn't managed to bring him along to Tottenham. Although the late Ventrone was a popular figure around the club.
While watching this, I'm thinking Ange - with a different approach - can create the same togetherness as inside the Madrid camp. If a question is allowed, I'm curious what is your opinion about Ange & the relation to this video?

    • @watchalexander
      @watchalexander  23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Thank you for such a great comment! I like Ange! I don’t think he’s perfect - no manager is (and it’s early days for a seemingly long-term project) - but he has a plan, and if he’s given the tools to realise that plan, Tottenham could go very far next season. In terms of man-management, I think he is doing a great job. He seems very personable and like someone the players can talk to as a person, not just as a boss, which I think is needed at a club like Spurs.

I’m pretty sure Klopp does “bromance manager” the best. He probably wasn’t the first, but he was the first that brought it to my attention. Before him in the EPL, I don’t recall managers being so… huggy. But then, maybe it’s because i don’t watch la liga or Bundesliga

Bayern is a weird club with weird players, weird fans and even weirder board members. They let Pep go since he was imposing, then let Ancelotti go because he was _not_ imposing. They sacked Nagelsmann for reasons still unknown, and went trophyless the next season. Signed Kompany of all people and is linked with Emerson Royal now.
