  • A relaxing "virtual walk" in the New Forest. No music & no commentary. Just the sounds & ambience of the forest, birds singing & my footsteps on the damp ground.
This is a 30 minute walk through the Islands Thorns Inclosure in the New Forest (park at the Telegraph Hill Forestry Commission car park at Grid Ref SU228166) on a very bright, sunny morning in Autumn.
It had rained the day before and there was a freshness in the air. Leaves were beginning to turn yellow and gold and the bracken was brown.
My route took me South along grass tracks through wooded inclosures with the sun glimpsing through the trees before I headed West...eventually coming across some New Forest ponies grazing away in the undergrowth.
If you would like to see further "New Forest walk" videos, with me and my Whippet (Logan) then do check out the playlist on my TH-cam channel at • New Forest Walks (NEW ...

Music from the TH-cam Audio library.
I use a GOPRO HERO 7 Black Action Camera (sometimes with a Gimbal) & a Rode microphone together with a Canon Powershot SX530 HS.

Brilliant. ... I have been looking for virtual walks so that I can watch whilst building up my energies on my treadmill, in readiness to do some of your Dorset routes. This is, seriously, the best of them. And because there is no awful music I can hear and mach my footsteps. Thank you for sharing. I shall now look at the other ones you have posted,

Great video ! I love that you go off track a little bit, so we can experience the different sounds as you walk on them. The little swampy area aswell as the sounds of leaves. Nice to see the horses roaming around freely. Keep it up :)

Thank you for your kind comments. I hope to do some more "virtual walk" videos in the future. Thanks for watching.

Very nice and peaceful walk through one of the better Inclosures, being mostly deciduous and only one aeroplane noise.

Thanks Peter. I think I was concentrating so hard on trying to make sure that my microphone didn't pick up my breathing (going slightly uphill!) that I failed to notice the aeroplane! Ah well... I guess it shows how hard it is to get away from humanity completely! :)

Hi Dave, most enjoyable walk. I seem to remember you did another virtual walk around Eyeworth pond but either it has disappeared or my memory is deceiving me in my old age!

Thanks. Yes, I have made another "virtual walk" video at Eyeworth pond / Eyeworth Wood. It should be coming out later this Summer. Cheers. Dave.

Nice walk Dave. Amazing how the forest has changed in a couple of months :)

Yes indeed ..... a little bit "more wet" underfoot now after the recent storm!

Thanks for this David. It's a really nice tranquil walk. Very calming. And so nice to see those sights and sounds of the forest. And that bracken looked golden in that light.

Thank you David. I hope to publish another "virtual walk" - again with Autumn colours - sometime in the new year.

That would be great. I've got good memories of driving from Bognor with friends to show them the autumn leaves there.

Lovely walk Dave, just shows how peaceful the forest can be. I must admit i did sort of miss the music and dear Logan as well as your informative commentary.

Thanks Rocky. I thought that I would try something a bit different with this walk -with the Autumn colours....although the sun glare was a bit of a nuisance! Logan & I are back with a new video on Friday. :)

just read what camera it is. I use the same camera! your looks so much cleaner. think I need to invest in a gimbal [=

I am very happy with the Gopro 7. My present gimbal is OK but I cannot use an external microphone when I use it (due to the way the Gopro is attached to the frame). Just upgraded to an Isteady Multi 3 Axis Gimbal which allows me to attach the Gopro plus the vlogging case (that holds the microphone adapter) - thus allowing me to use the Gopro WITH the external microphone on the Gimbal. To be honest, the image stabilisation is really good on the Gopro 7 and normally I can get away without using a Gimbal (I tend only to use the Gimbal now if the video has a lot of walking over uneven ground.
