This brings back so many childhood memories back in the 2000's and even into the early 2010's! The last time I recall flying on a major airline was way back in 2007 from IAH to Denver, and then onwards to either Billings or Bozeman.
As a guy who has flown out of IAH since 1982 and seen the airport grow leaps and bounds over the years and knows the terminals inside/out I will say you did a fantastic job in the tour. My only comment would be when you mention Terminal E as the newest, it is as the newest complete terminal building. However, Terminal C northside is a complete rebuild from the old building that was completed and operational 2017. Again very very well done.
Too far away from center of town. Nothing free. Expensive luggage carts and shops. 1 hour or more shuttle to town. Pricey. Not worth it unless you are there only on bussiness trip. Go to Las vegas instead or Miami.
Appreciate it lad, going have a little over an hour to get from one gate to another, the info you provided and the info on they're website has help in figuring out the layout and time that will be taken up.
Ha! I recently took that JetBlue flight to BOS for Anime Boston 2022.....I got to IAH way too early as the JetBlue desk didn't even open for another hour. Also, TSA pre-check is in one direction only and I had to circle back around over that sky bridge to get to my actual gate. Once there, though it was easy-peasy. Had a nice lunch, and my flight left on time and got to Boston early. The JetBlue flight itself was really comfortable and fast and they have back-seat USB charging ports which are a MUST! It was also really easy to get from Logan airport to the Airport Subway station via the Blue Line shuttle(bus) and onward to my hotel in the Back Bay. Going back I had to resort to a cab because I didn't account for holiday scheduling on MBTA. Got back to IAH also ahead of schedule, got my parking shuttle quickly, and drove home just after peak lunch time. I prefer HOU when I can use it, but I'm getting the hang of IAH.
Great, accurate video! America's Best Large Market Airport (Skytrax) Proud of BOTH of our excellent international airports in Houston! IAH = I Am HOME!! 😎👍
@@MilesByFoot , it's a shame that you couldn't tour/film the "new" (several years old) Customs and Immigration facility shared between C & E. It's a beautiful AND efficient facility! th-cam.com/video/X5sFs1O9BaI/w-d-xo.html .
Quality video! Good narration, relaxing music, good footage. I get the chance to revisit my travels. Thank you. I remember in 2019 when I was here that the sandwiches were like $12 or $16.
It's big, but I hope the tour helped! Most of the time, especially if you're connecting, you'll only be in two parts of the airport, and often they're close together!
IAH also has the subway that connects A-B-C-D-E but its in the basement, and unlike airports like ATL, you have to go through security again if you use the subway
If you're flying international on United or another Star Alliance airline, you'll very likely fly out of E; other international carriers fly out of Concourse D, like KLM, Avianca, Qatar, and Aeromexico.
I would've known that IAH is one of 2 world class designed airports in Texas other than DFW. IAH is way older than DFW by age. They were both operational since the Cold War with IAH operational in 1969 and DFW in 1973.
I am connecting via IAH between 2 international flights, do I need to collect mine checked in bags from international flight #1 and re-check in the checked bags for international flight #2?
Generally yes, as you'll clear customs when you land here, even if you're connecting. However, you'll typically drop your bags off immediately after customs, then go through security again!
When I was there in October it was open; see 06:39. I'd imagine now, as international service has picked up, it will be open now, too! If you find that it isnt, you can take the landside Subway to another terminal to check in. If you're flying United, you can check in at any terminal!
love your video... I'm flying into SAT airport and flying out at IAH....so if I got this right...so when I check in at "Delta" my gate will probably be on A terminal then 12 thru 15 gates and is the TSA I go through near my check out counter?.. then after going through TSA I have to walk awhile down a walkway to get to A 12-15 terminal then walk to the end to my gate. I feel there is a lot of walking for me or is it closer than I think? I have never been to IAH before, nervous.
Delta is in Terminal A. Each terminal has its own security checkpoint, though everything is connected once you're past security. It's not much walking. From security in A to your gate is probably a five minute walk!
Last year I flew out of IAH to JFK, via a connection in CLT (Charlotte, NC), all on American Airlines. It was my first time in the Big Apple and I was determined to get there before sundown, and technically I did. Had to get up WAY early to do it though. Flight to Charlotte was smooth and I even got a little sleep on the plane. I had a pleasant lunch in Charlotte and my connection to JFK was also on time. I did touch down at JFK with the sun still up, but it was also late Fall, so by the time I navigated JFK, made my way to Jamaica Station to board the LIRR to Penn Station....well, the sun set on me as I rode LIRR to Manhattan. By the time I emerged from Penn Station in Midtown, it was well after dark...but at least Midtown is very well lit and when you emerge and look up you see the Empire State Building and know you've made it. My hotel was just a few blocks north and I'd already scoped it out numerous times on Google Street View. Thank goodness for TH-cam Travel Vloggers like you....it's reassuring to arrive in a new place but feel like you know your way from these videos.
All terminals are accessible airside, and you can connect to each on IAH's automated people mover, called the Skyway; each terminal's stations are highlighted in the video :)
Terminal C is in the center of the airport, and it's spread across the most space, so it's harder to say exactly, as it depends on the gate. The southern half of Terminal C connects directly to Concourse E. From concourse center to concourse center is about a third of a mile, 8-10 minutes to walk.
Not terribly far. Chances are you'll be arriving in Terminal E, and will clear customs from there, which will put you on the landside of Terminal E. You can either clear security again in Terminal E and take the Skyway to your gate (likely in Terminal B or D), or take the Subway to the appropriate terminal, then clear security there. Either way, It will likely involve about 10 minutes of walking once you've cleared security again.
@@itsmeiniaku You likely will. While I've never done this at IAH, you do need to recheck your luggage after clearing customs. It's usually a short distance, and luggage carts should be available to make it easier. :/
Just show up 2 and a half hours early. Once you get through security, immediately find your gate. Follow the signs and if you're having trouble, ask a worker. Once you find your gate go and grab a bite to eat and a drink. Flying alone is the best thing ever.
I'm sure more will come as international travel grows again; for now, Dulles outside Washington offers a lot of European and African destinations on United and international carriers.

It's everything I would have expected from an airport with that name, the incompetence was astonishing, they lost my daughter's one little bag causing her to miss her connecting flight ,her only option 10 am the next day but they offered her a chair to sit on that was very kind 🤦♂️they found her bag but wouldn't let her have her phone charger so when all was said and done I had to rent an overpriced room and buy her a new overpriced charger, I'd like to thank United airlines for their massive incompetence as well ,I attempted to get some kind of recourse but got a major run around and after waiting on hold or eventually getting a call back more incompetence ,If it's humanely possible it will be by auto from now on .
How do you miss a flight when they lose your bag? They can just send it on a later flight and then deliver it to your final destination. This makes absolutely no sense. If a airline truly is responsible for you missing a connecting flight they always provide food and hotel vouchers. Since losing a bag doesn’t prevent someone from catching their connecting flight I am assuming this is why you were not reimbursed. I have had luggage lost plenty of times, it’s all apart of traveling. But it’s not a big deal. The airline always finds it and delivers it to your final destination free of charge. George Bush intercontinental airport has been rated the best airport in the US 2 times in a row these past few years. So this strange experience that doesn’t make any sense, certainly isn’t the norm.
