As I said in previous comments on your videos, I had no idea that classics was even a thing until it was over. A video about classics snake mountain popped up in my feed, and all of the sudden my love MOTU that I had as a kid suddenly was back. Classics SM and Greyskull are now the two prize pieces of my collection. We'll done sir!

9:17 "Finding out He-Man had to fit inside the castle Jaw Bridge" Best quote, since that should have been one of the most obvious details required to start with. I think most of us expected the castle wasn't going to be as tall as originally shown from the cardboard cut outs, but We all did expect to be able to have a standard figure be able to stand in the opening. That being said, I did love the castle. I wish I could find a place to properly display it, but alas I finally needed to pack away the card table it sat on and put the castle into storage.

....finally!!!! The making of the iconic Castle Grayskull! I waited forever to see this! That Dungeon grate should have been released later on after the line became a success. It would have sold as a stand alone piece!

I own a USS Flagg, Haslab Sentinel and other big, epic toys. I still point to the Classics Castle Grayskull as my favourite large piece in my collection. I was not in the slightest disappointed and find it to be one of the most enjoyable toys to actually play with even as a 40-something year old man.

Yeah its always easier for the customer that only sees the final product. The creative team usually yall measure it by what yall originally hoped for, which tends to be even cooler than the reality of what could be done (no matter how awesome the final product was).

I’m happy with my Castle Grayskull 🏰. Though I do wish we were able to get the The abyss and the 3D dungeon . Those would’ve been so cool

Really interesting to hear. I think these huge adult collector sets have really shown what people are willing to pay for a 'hobby'. Been reading a lot of discussion about the recently announced Lego castle, people moaning about the price... But compared to some of these large adult collectables it now doesn't seem so bad!

I spent a lot for the Mega Blocks Grasyskull...it was a complete lot with all the figures and vehicles that were also releases

Now I need to check out this new Lego Castle. I typically only collect vintage Lego Castle, not the newer stuff, but I might end up breaking my not-so-strick rules again. 😕 Hobbies can get expensive...

How many standards did you end up creating with Matty Collector? In many ways it was the prototype for Haslab and Mattel Creations. I know you caught a lot of hell back then for things not being perfect, but you really were one of the first to figure out how this model could work with a lot of trial and error.

Greatest toy ever made? I think so. I mean, I’m very happy with it! Mission accomplished!

As a Motu adult looking at 3d printing to fill the hole in my life (Rather then eBay). I've found that if I really want a large play set for any Motu location (think of the Sail Barge). I have to build locations myself or look to D&D sources.
The D&D items are easily scaled up with the editor. But what I'd really love to find is someone like FunbieStudios who has been working on items/location from both the G1 cartoon, Japan Headmasters, Beast Wars and comics.

There was no chance I was missing out I didn't care what it was I believed it was going to be wonderful based on what we had already. It was more necessary than completing the original figure lineup

It was truly a remarkable achievement for the time. Club Eternia changed the toy industry for collectors and we were basically the rest market for all others to follow. The excitement was palpable

As a proud owner of that BTTF Hoverboard as well as the Classics Castle Grayskull, all I can say is a job well done! These are definitely some of the crown jewels of my collection. Thank you! I am hoping lightning will strike twice and a third time with both the Super 7 Ultimates Thundercats as well as the Ultimates Silverhawks lines.

I think losing the Ghost of Grayskull was addition by subtraction at least. Though maybe they could make parts for people who really want to add to the playset. Different versions of the turret or pieces that can fit that were cut originally perhaps getting released in some form heh. I think the moat would be like the Dungeons Dragons cardboard castle playsets. Too bad didn't have a Ray Harryhausen or somebody talented who was able to use computers. They would have been able to really get things going. Not having an engineer or people knowing what they are doing is typical of people hehe. Finding them is the hard part then getting them to help even more difficult. Kinda funny how Castle is sorta hodge podge of ideas and versions.

Was the handle piece the girl had on the hover board before mcfly pulled it off included? That's how Mattel must if sold it in the future year of 2015 if the kid had them on

    • @Daoloth

Do they even work? As I didn't see it say "Boards do not Really Hoover" hehe?

I mean, if you want to see how much love that castle has STILL...the secondary market pricing on it is insane. A MISB version just sold for 1800 bucks. Complete without box? 1200. And try more like a decade ago, not 20 years ago, Scott:P 2013. Make us feel older than we are!

Why not just use the original box art

    • @Daoloth
      @Daoloth 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

They probably don't have the legal rights or other reasons? Maybe they don't even have the art itself to reproduce at a high enough resolution or whatever.

Hi Scott, I was watching this SNL sketch the other day and realised it features a He-man figure from classics.
    th-cam.com/video/UHml_J1PN9Y/w-d-xo.html
    I wondered if:
    1) you had seen it?
    2) How it came about if you were involved with it?
    3) If you could break down what has to happen for a show to be able to use a toy like that on screen?
Thanks for all the great videos. Always a great watch and really interesting.
    Andy
