One of the biggest lessons learned from your series is seeing how toy fans(?) participate in the discussion when given direct access to a toy creator. Thank you for making this.
I discovered this line July 2011 during an All Star sale where I got He-Man and Skeletor. As soon as I opened them up I was hooked, and collected everything thereafter. I had so much fun collecting this line (issues with DigitalRiver aside) and it's the collection I'm most fond of. So thanks Scott for spearheading something that brought me (and many others) so much joy!
The absolute best MOTU line ever. I dont collect origins. I do collect Masterverse and I love them but, there is a big difference. I did come into the game late bc I was still head over heels with Hot Toys but, eventually I came to my senses. I do admit I wound up paying obscene amounts for a few pieces like Fisto, and Battle Armor Faker but, it was worth every penny now to look at my wall of Classics. A very large nostalgic chunk of my childhood feels restored and preserved. Thanks Scott, for all your work and dedication from the line itself, to the commentary and everything in between. Jason
Scott, this series came alone at a scary and sad time for ALOT of people all over the world. These videos did help me get my mind off of a matter i could do nothing about! So, thank you for your videos of MOTU. i am definitely a fan of you, and I hope to see other great content 🙏👍...Bless you
MOTU Classics really is the line and blueprint that every "fan" toy line tries to follow nowadays, with varied success of course. Say what you will of the quality, there were restrictions and real world issues out of your control, but Classics really was a pioneer. Thank you, Scott, and everyone else who put all the time in to make it the best line it could possibly be.
It was one of the greatest toylines ever created, doubly impressive because it had such a small team and so little support… and an insane customer base. But you really did it. Many toylines right now take cues from MOTUC in character selection, construction, parts reuse, nostalgia deep dives, licensing rights - I firmly believe that MOTUC was an absolute game-changer in how toys are marketed to Gen X.
Thank you so much, Scott. I firmly believe MOTU is still alive in big part because of you. Classics was and still is the best MOTU line ever. I met you around 13 years ago at the Power Con in El Segundo, and you were super nice. Thank you, and I hope you continue to promote amazing action figure lines like Classics in the future.
Great video summarizing up the best MOTU line released. I don't think fans understand how much you guys went way and beyond with this line, even creating bios, where you tied ll the lines and lore togheter (Vintage, N/A, 200X, mini comics etc.) Only disapointment on this videos was that I was expecting that awesome art work of the visual map of MOTU Classics figures released ;)
Still the best motu collectors line in my humble opinion. To bad I was late to the game, availability in Europe was rough, but for a few online retailers with inflated prices. And aftermarket prices are insane. But great line and it hasn't been topped by anything that followed.
Hahaha!!! That t-shirt is hilarious! 😂 Thanks, Scott! That was a great series and I didn't want it to end, so I'm very happy you're doing a series about the bios next!
I think the line was immensely influential on almost any collector line now, but I honestly miss collecting in that era. It was just a time to really enjoy it.
Love the director’s commentary series and the whole Classics line. Hopefully someone somewhere will realize that money can be made selling more of these and they’ll return somehow. I never really wanted this line to end.
As a Star Wars collector, I have an inordinate number of MOTUC figures. Not really my intention. Honestly, someone said the Yuuzhan Vong species were just based on Skeletor.. so I ended up with a half dozen Skeletors, most of which I got for pennies from China.. and many others. Don’t get me wrong, I have sprung and even very recently for misb Classics. Battleground Teela for one. It was a grail piece and I realised it wasn’t going to come down.. so $100 seemed reasonable. To get to the point He Man wasn’t even in my age group! I was well into high school when the filmation show was on TV.. but I am soooo glad it’s something I can fall back on, now that Star Wars has gone for a proverbial dump! So thank you once again Scott! 🙏
One of my biggest regrets as a collect is not being able to collect these figures when they first came out. Aftermarket prices are prohibitive for me wanting to collect the line now. As such, Origins has scratching this itch for me, for the most part. Still, this Classics line is, like you said, lightning in a bottle.

I must say I am going to miss these commentaries now that the end is here.I enjoyed all the information and being able to express my opinions on things about it I liked as well as things I didn't care for and definitely letting you know why.I appreciate how you tied the many loose ends of continuity together into one cohesive tale.I'm sure it wasn't easy.my favorite bio was the one you did for Jitsu where he becomes emperor of snake mountain.I do miss especially the convention showings where you showed each new character with a slide show revealing who they were in small pictures of their features.I will still be here to give you my opinions(and trust me,I will;))on any future articles you do but for the time you worked with our favorite Eternian and friends I say thank you.:)
Hey Scott, I love your content and your deep insight into the MOTU Classics line. Another video I'd love to see from you is an opinion piece on the first two Club Greyskull figures, He-Man and Skeletor, in those awesome collector boxes. I think that was after your time, but before Super7. To this day, these two are my absolute favorite versions of the two main characters, and even though I didn't grow up with the cartoon, nor do I think the figures are perfect, I love them. Maybe you have some insight. Thank you very much

That t-shirt is gold Scott! 👌 I have no doubt there will be many Retro tears Blasted because of it.. and I for one will be here to relish in them. Keep fighting the good fight brother 🫡
Great work! I think it would be great to explore the legacy of this line. How it influenced the new Netflix TV Show, other toy lines. Even if it wasn't started by MotUC, how the line was part of certain elements. For example, HasLabs, crowdfunding now and then. Super7 Ultimates' aesthetics. Direct to consumer sales for collectors, etc.
I'm sure it would require some work, like interviewing the writers and producers of the new shows and developers of the newer toy lines. If Scott has the time for it, that would be phenomenal! Maybe documentary material for us collectors? I'd buy a DVD copy.
It's a shame I never got all the Classics figures I wanted because they were only sold through Matty Collector. A good line, could have had better quality control though. There goes the last great MOTU line after the vintage one. Origins and Masterverse are just smoke.
I am so excited to hear there will be a new show moving forward based on the bios. The story being told there was so compelling, exciting, and works revisiting to get all the little nods and secrets... I am primed and again, excited. Possibly more than for the figure commentary previously
I have been a strong critic here, but I will say this and I said this before on many other forums and blogs that criticize u one way or the other. If Motu keeps going today it’s mainly because of you and pushing for he classics line at the time, PERIOD! Without classics, Motu may not exist today as we speak and classics came to be single handedly by one person, you, toy guru and no one else! So thank you for that. We might agree or not on other things, mainly when you reported the line was gone from shelves at retail two years ago, (I just purchase Green goddess Teela two days ago at Target and almost jumped to the roof when I saw her cause she’s been sold out everywhere lol) So that’s that and thank you for keeping Motu single handedly alive.
The fact that you can post such ridiculousness is comical. We made the line successful. Not scooter. And origins came 10 years after classics. So stop with the nut licking
I'm a big fan of Motu, and these videos have some great information. I'd like to know why you think Mattel didn't want to continue with the Motu Classics line and decided to move it to Super 7.
Well I did all of the DCUC figures. Are you referring to the red card/box figures? Much like the Super 7 MOTUC videos I could do an overview but it would be of toys I did not work on.
Hey Scott, I'm sorry to see this series end, but I'm really interested in the bios. I hope I can buy that shirt in XL soon! It would be a great Festivus, Hanukkah, or Christmas present! Arbor day is a little ways off. Much love to you, your TH-cam friends, and the non-trolls!❤

I always felt MOTUC as a line made by fans for fans. I don't like the fact that first 2 waves are never available for the entirety of the line release when they are the most popular and the most likely get you ripped off at ebay by speculators cause you couldn't afford them when they first came out. I think it plays agaisn't the brand and the collector. will there ever be a head-body ratio proportionate he-man as in classics? will the original MOTUC ever be re-released? what do we have to do to get it done?
He-Man, Skeletor, Beast-Man, and a few others got reissued at least once, and actually hung around on the site for quite a while. Problem is, they hung around without selling out for longer than Upper Management liked, so no refills.
Thank you 4 HORSEMEN for solely bringing us and constantly push to make classics. Unlike many nutlickers, there are plenty that acknowledge that scooter was only there because he wanted to promote himself. The stain in classics is and will always be scooters involvement in the line. Had it not been for him the classics line may have been reissued and brought back. Anyway thank you 4 HORSEMEN, original creators and caretakers of motu classics.
Well opinions are just like… Seriously, I wasn’t around for the Matty Collector days and have an honest question: what did Scott do or not do that you would have done differently?
