You need more levels of roosts for the bird in charge to get higher than others. They have a pecking order.

The twine around the roosting bar is not necessary. Chickens will poop on it and will be impossible to keep clean. The wood is fine for them to roost on. I like your attaching the 2×4s to support the roost and nesting box. I'll definitely use your idea. Thanks

Kind of funny because I did the same thing inside my coop for their roosting. I used 1/4” hemp rope & never even watched your video.

all these things you have done are great 1 thing i will say about your roosting bar is that since you are going to be moving it around its not really critical to have it perfectly level as no yard in the world that isnt proffesionally leveled everywhere wil be remotely level so it is a mute point going to that effort but good work anyways

Not sure how the coop is shedding water. I had a similar sagging tarp situation. Just stuck a soccer ball under it and it’s worked great for years.

I just found your channel and it brings back fond memories of when we lived in for a very short time. I love what you did, my only concern is that it’s not predator proof. I just saw a lady who had a raccoon fit in her coop in a space very similar to that around your door. I was surprised to see it could fit in that tiny of a space! It killed two chickens one night so the next day they locked hem all in the hen house like yours. That night they heard their rooster going nuts and went out to see the raccoon. I just thought you might want to know because I know I would never have thought one could get through.
I am also very interested to see how your hydoponics are doing now in the heat of the summer. I couldn’t believe how well they were doing in your last update.

Be very careful using twine in the chicken coop. If it gets raveled the chickens could swallow it and die.

When I built the timber base for the Amazon Coop run I had the Tractor supply Coop on the inside and then decided it took up too much room in the run. (I used deck screws to secure all the legs to the timbers (rail ties)
I just butted up the end of the Tractor Supply Coop wiith the non-door end of the run and snippped holes in the wires then zip tied them together. I now have the feed & water out in the run area and some old fence runs for roosting on.
We plan on adding some nest boxes out in the run like you did and we tarped the whole roof (We live in Western WA State).

    • @cornbreadcreekfarm7458

That is an awesome idea. The nesting boxes I jot work great. They only go
In there to lay eggs now. So no more dirty eggs.
