I worked at Tesla starting in July of 2017 as an Operations Analyst out of the Bethlehem, PA distribution center facility and left as a Program Manager based out of Austin, TX as of September 2021. I spent most of my time in the distribution and supply chain organizations.
Before Tesla, I was a Director of Business Intelligence and Pricing at the largest Pet Food & Supply distributor in the US, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies based out of Easton, PA. My wife and I also owned a small business in Bethlehem, PA between 2016 and 2019.
I have been a shareholder of Tesla since 2012 and currently own Tesla stock. Nothing I say constitutes as investment or financial advice.
My thoughts are my own and are not representative of everyone who currently works, or has worked at Tesla.

I couldn't help but notice that the hatch on a hatch got the biggest "OOhhh Ahhh" of the entire presentation.
The first time I see Stevo being serious about something. The truck must be really good.
😂😂😂
Beautiful!! But the price is SO out of control, it makes a horse look like a better idea . No exaust , no cats , no emission system, no ice , no gasoline storage /management, no glycol coolant, should cost less than a maverick
Will be exciting to see what Tesla will offer with the Model 2!🎉
Wow, rude. Off-topic deflection to another company, completing ignoring the product on display here. Not even comparable products.
Love the design
These vehicles look good. But By end 2025, it's gonna be super tough to sell $45 - $55k EVs to the mass.
At $17k , you could sell a million per year
Get ready for Rivian to go to market for a new funding round!
After having thought about this presentation for a few hours I now believe Rivian made a major mistake. I think by showing the R3 they may have a lot of R2 would be buyers waiting until the R3.
Nah tesla boy
@@itisim I hope I'm wrong but it did occur to me that this might dull the R2 sales. It also occurred to me they may have felt they needed to show their hand a bit in order to interest investors. I am pretty sure they will be going to the market for more funding soon....Amazon already knows what they have so this show wasn't for them.
@@nickmcconnell1291 rivian got more in the bag trust me
I don’t think so! To me, they are different buyers. The R2 is for someone who wants a legit SUV, but not as big as the R1. The R3 is basically a hatchback car that will cater to the young hip crowd.
@@Aggie4life77 Fair enough. I guess I'm part of that young hip crowd.... even though I'm over 60! 🤣
is this stevo?
Boxy
Production is hard.
Wow, strictly on design and features, I want this much more than a Tesla.
no you don't.
Has anyone thought to ask people that work there lol, I live in Bloomington il and know many people that work at the crack factory. People are so fucking lazy, just show up at the plant, film the children running around the parking lot, ambulances hauling of addicts every shift. When you are done, you can catch a cornhuskers game right down the street.
if they actually end up placing the charge port on passenger rear. They will keep failing. Unless miraculously they pull 50k plus of there own super chargers that have longer charge cables. maybe by then tesla will have longer cables but damn why fight it. they already joined the tesla super charger network. Cant beat em join em
I... get some bad vibes from this. Too much emphasis on subjective marketing terms. "Inviting" is way overused. I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't feel good about this.
Haha 2026 lol
It doesn’t look cool - as if some executive or lawyer interfered with design decisions in attempt to avoid infringement lawsuits
My God, did you see the look the head chief of design gave RJ? I'd swear he hates him.
I wonder if it's because they know getting Illinois retooled&expanded, plus bringing the r2 to market production in 24 month's is impossible?
@@4literv6 Maybe...hmmmm. I'm thinking he doesn't like what they forced him to make. Probably has higher quality standards than this cheaper model allows... if the R1T is the example here.
My worry is that Rivian is pigeon holing themselves into adventure pickup, and SUVs.... all being kind of off-road camping stuff. Adventure vehicles have a good market but it does have a limit. Maybe they'll diversify more into a utilitarian vehicle later?
Gee, did they have anything that wasn't a copy of Tesla tech..... except for the flashlight and two gloveboxes? Yeah they have a different shape.
They talked about big cylinder batteries but what's the charge rate? Maybe they got cut?
Guess copying is the sincerest form of flattery.
A truly pathetic for a 2026 or 2027 model year ev of 30mins for a 10-80% charge on a vehicle with 270-300+miles of range. 👍🏻😀
@@4literv6 Yeah let's hope they upgrade that before release! Especially since by then there will be a lot more v4 Tesla superchargers putting out up to (or more by then) 350 KW.... and Rivian will have NACS by then too.
I canceled my cybertruck for the rivian R2
Steve-o stretch armstrong
R3 ford pinto in steroids
Well, the Ford Pinto remains one of the best selling cars in the history of the automobile industry. But I agree, there's a certain amount of truth to your description.
An ugly looking thing that costs over $110,000usd !
Prototypes are ...., Production is ....!
2026?
Beautiful!
Rivian’s next generation looks good. Bit sad that Georgia plant doesn’t stand up by 2026 though :/
You dont know the future you maybe wrong or right besides you looking to far ahead
Square steering wheel. 1960 Plymouth.
Looks like the new Yugo
🎉🎉🎉
Stevo was not himself in this
This multiple vehicle announcement looked more like an "Ad" for investors and a future funding round, than for real products that will ship shortly, as Rivian currently does not have enough factories to run all of these production lines . . . When Steve Jobs returned to Apple in 1997, he slashed a number of products, to simplify manufacturing . . . Tesla followed this trajectory by focusing on 2 main products: The Tesla Model 3 (Mac) and Model Y (Mac Pro) . . . The new Rivian R2 is basically the size of a Toyota RAV 4. If I was Rivian, I would just focus on building out a production line for the R2 and make as many of those as possible (the way Tesla put all of their resources into the Model 3 when they were at a breaking point).
Indeed, that's what people don't seem to understand.
One of the reasons Apple can earn so much money is because they simplify their product line up and also simplify the amount of time and money that is needed to make that whole line up.
Tesla is earning money because Tesla focused on the manufacturing part, to simplify the process of manufacturing.
Everybody can make an amazing car by just putting in third party tech in it, but how do you make the car cheap and affordable so people actually buy it?
I agree. Go all in on a reasonably priced vehicle and get it right. Their cars are good looking and if priced right its a nice alternative to Tesla. Once you have traction start building the others.
Wish Jeff had more to say…
I like it, like a range rover with tesla tech... 😊
besides the NACS port, there is no tesla tech in this vehicle whatsoever.
RIP Ford and GM.
and RIVIAN... 2026? WHAT A JOKE
No thanks. Using mm to describe your vehicles is a poor metric to use.
I can see that you're a pretty deep thinker. You'd dismiss the entire product line because it was described using a unit of measurement you dislike. And let me guess: You don't like that unit of measurement for political reasons.
Someone said 'prototypes are easy, production is difficult' (or in most cases impossible) but r3 would fit Europe very well imho
Great supercut. Looks like some cute practical cars. The front lights are wierd and need some getting used to for me xD.
Most of the features are so basic but he sells them really well. Is the audience tipped off so that they shout at basic features? 😁
2026 ?? WHAT A JOKE RIVIAN DOWN HILL 👎🏻
Moooo....
