  • Biomass boilers are now available with funding from the UK Governments Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) if the installation is in a rural area and not connected to the mains gas network. In this video, we show a fully automatic biomass boiler installation which uses wood pellets. The installation is based around a Froeling P4 pellet boiler with a purpose-designed wood pellet store.
    More information - Boiler Upgrade Scheme - Opens 23rd May The boiler upgrade scheme replaces the previous RHI or Renewable Heat Incentive

    Excellent video - currently I buy about 300 bags of pellets/year to heat my home with a pellet stove & I don't like having to throw away all those plastic bags. A bulk delivery system would be awesome. Soon I am moving to New Hampshire (here in the USA) & after watching this video I will research wood pellet furnace systems, the one shown here looks terrific.

    Probably should’ve turned the mole audio down a bit so I can hear what you’re saying 😆. Great video though. Wondered how these things work when I was replacing an oil boiler just in case I could switch.

    Interesting stuff. It would be good if they got solar PV and wind turbine and battery storage added. They could then go off grid and save a fortune on gas/electric and the pesky standing charges

    I do wonder at the carbon cost of creating the pellets. Is it less for chips?

    Great work, really well explained. We're looking to have one in our slightly off-grid cabin. Delivery truck will struggle to get close enough though I think. Are there any other options other than small plastic bags? I have a 4x4 and a 2.5 ton trailer which I can get up there. Can I load that up with those huge ton bags?

      You could drop the vacuum feed pipe into a one-tonne bag -just make sure the bag is in a dry place and pipe out the vacuum exhaust as it has dust particles.

    I have posted this in English and French in the hope that a French company might pick up the enquiry.......That is a really interesting video, thanks for taking so much trouble. Currently I live in France and have been using an oil fired boiler for the last twenty odd years. I have been search for information on a pellet system. Now you have supplied it!!! Do you happen to know if this type of boiler is available in France?

    Interesting and well made video. Would like to have seen a yearly cost average for a 100m2 household with 2 people for instance... How much would be needed in the way of pellets but also maintenance costs on the unit?

      Bonjour. Nous avons une maison de 106 m2 et 2 à la maison .on chauffe à 23 /24 degrés. On consomme même pas 3,5 tonnes de granulés

    Brilliant video Gordon, wouldn't that system benefit from a Sunamp battery rather than a conventional hot water cylinder?

    • @eFIXXENERGY
      @eFIXXENERGY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be a possibility - they only make the equivalent of 300L sunamps atm - it would need 3 to equal a 1000L buffer tank.

      Could prove beneficial in the winter months if it holds heat longer than a cylinder, less cycling of the boiler and less cleaning / servicing

    When these first came out people where really keen. There is a lot gubbins to make it work and ten years on I've not heard many horror stories of breakdowns. What I really struggle with is that this is not as green as you might think. The pellets come from the other side of the world. The supply isn't consistent and prices have fluctuated. Having said that it must be better than gas or oil. Really well explained big G.

    Is it safe to put pellet boiler in the kitchen , does it leach chemicals that can interfere with food?

    • @eFIXXENERGY
      @eFIXXENERGY  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a fully sealed unit - so in theory you could put in a kitchen. You can get units for inside a home which are less industrial looking.

    Really interesting to see how all that works. We are still however heating water to then move round pipes, with all the losses in involved, how about a video to show electric heating alternatives? Didn't realise you had to run pellet boilers for long time periods mind...

    Storage area can be very dangerous…pellets emit co2 and can quickly suffocate.

    • @eFIXXENERGY
      @eFIXXENERGY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They emit CO not CO2 - in this video the pellet store was empty. You are correct you need to use caution when store is full. Plus dust can also be explosive.

      @@eFIXXENERGY Thats a a nice and thoroughly explanation of a wood pellet boiler. As i#m from austria (where fröhling company is located)it is a nice thing to see that its used in UK too... (with or with out ö or o) - i ve got a log boiler linked to a insulated 1000 Liter buffer, its a nice method to save heating costs, and gives heat to the house for aprox one day once the buffer is fully charged.(zero degrees centigrade outside in dezember). On the country side along the danube one gets wood logs at a quite fair price, storage and cutting is also not a problem...
      At the end: slate on the roof, bare stone walls - like in old pictures form england - thats not often seen here in central europe.
