NOTE: IT DOESNT MATTER HOW MUCH YOU FEEL ABOUT IT. BLAST IS NOT OP OR META. Just in case someone's wondering why I used 3 different monsters with Blast for this test is because I wanted to scale them. If Blast is good then NO MATTER WHAT MONSTER I USED. UNLESS ITS WEAK TO IT, it should theoretically be consistent throughout all of the Teostra Blastpowder tests and the results show that each one did at least 5 blast procs. Also regardless of whatever test I used, raw did most of the damage. As you upgrade your weapon Raw will be doing even more damage and you'll proc Blast less. Its not that hard to tell that Blast isn't super useful. If you couldn't tell that before it released. Then you have a lot of work to do as an analyst. If Blast was OP then you could do 40% or more of the monsters HP with pure blast damage. But thats not possible due to Elemental Status build up scaling no matter what level of Teostra Blastpowder you use (its harder to proc status as you continue to get successful inflictions). Nor would I think the devs wanted an Elder Dragon exclusive element as of right now to be that broken. That's why Teostra Dual Blades wasn't released. Its A DUAL ELEMENT WEAPON. Pair DB's attack speed with Blast and it would mad broken. As a DB Main in Main Series, I would love that. But wouldn't be healthy for the game. Status Build up has to be balanced with the DB's first before they release an Elemental Status DB.
Hi King Solo I would agree about not being Meta, element are far stronger but What do you think about Blast in multi player then ? (Not HaT/ interception since the Hp are fixed) I wouldn’t be surprised if 4 blast weapons could kill the monster faster than 4 elements (since blast gets more powerful against a monster with high HP, while, obviously, element weapons doesn’t get any bonus like that in multi players hunt. I’m curious to know what you think about that. Thanks !
It could totally work. Given that all of them do have blast weapons lol. But I'm sure there will be fixes in the future if that mechanic is abused. UNLESS it is a monster with 150% elemental weakness. If its one of those don't use blast your overall Elemental damage will be much higher than trying to force Blast procs.
It’s been a challenge last three teostra haven’t been able to sever that tail with my group but I was able to get my teostra 2 piece and bow thank you for the video friend! 😊

Question: regarding the speed of status application. I feel like the application depends on the motion values of attacks . Yes, sns does more hits but with 20+% ish motion values, hummer in the other hand does 100% per hit (example) so meaning that you need 5 sns hits to apply the same amount of status as 1 hit of hummer. That must work like that otherwise status hummers, great swords etc would have been unbalanced
The motions values don’t have much to do with it. Although it’s outdated, this article pretty much explains status buildup really well. Sadly that’s the nature of buildup. The faster a weapon attacks the more buildup you do. The article explicitly says that the build up value should be considered with motion values . “Poison Buildup value for reference, exact value you have is in the status page which includes poison skill from armor(s). The ACTUAL value include the multiplication against motion value, which is not being discussed here to further complicate things.” Thus, the higher a weapon hits (hummer) the more status it will build up. But there’s 33% base application chance which works against slow weapons. But it depends on the amount of hits done. That’s why dudes with paralysis hummers can paralyze with one hit in a head while I’m dancing with sns😀
I know till it says that. But it’s just making it more complicated lol. In a nutshell, the more you hit a monster the build up you proc. If you attack less you aren’t going to build up. Hammers can’t proc paralysis in one shot. Not sure you’re looking at, but there’s no universe where I’ve seen out of hundreds of videos where you can one shot proc a status element right now.
Honestly, im pretty impressed it did that well. I gave it a handicap to see how many Blasts you can get off and its pretty consistent that no matter what monster you face you'll do around 4-6 Blasts at Grade 6. Of course, at higher grades you'll get off less, but the consistency of Blast is still cool to see.
Well at least I am not missing out on much as I have yet to see Teostra so far. Just need to get at least one done before event ends for the rank 6 material.

@@KINGOFCHARMANDERS i don't have all the material to try all of this by myself becaue i don't a whale but if i'm doing math... the BD bow at grade 10.5 with the build of 5 focus + 2 burst + 2 wex doing 4047 dmg and the Teostra bow at grade 10.5 with the build of 5 focus + 2 TBP + 1 crit eye + 1 burst doing 3189 blast doing 25% of the job so in addition you need 75% of raw dmg... So you need 75% or more of the power of BD bow to be equal to him in power 4047 (BD bow dmg) -25% = 3035 (75% dmg from BD bow) 3189 (Teostra bow dmg) is more than 3035 that why i am asking you to try i don't including Driftsmelt because i don't know how Blast Attack realy good and work but I would love it if you can make a video about Blast Attack please think about it
It’s just not worth doing a video is what I’m saying lol. The thing is maxing the Teostra bow isn’t worth it and wouldnt be worth it. As you upgrade it, you will end up procing blast less unless it’s a drawn out battle because most of your damage will come from your raw damage. Burst would be the primary skill if you were to driftsmelt as blast build up would be secondary due to the recent update that made status harder to inflict as you continue to proc it.

I have a SS of every element at grade 8 I also have armor at Element 5 and Attack 4 or 5 for every type. I am still struggling to effectively KO 8*, I can handle everything up to Tobi without trouble and then I fall off. I am going to stockpile materials in case they release switch axe or insect glaive. I already have +5 sets for each element, but I still wanna use blast just for fun. Would you say blast would be a good thing to build for a beginner? I advised a friend to move from bone gunlance to pukei bow, but I´m wondering if a blast weapon would be a good idea for him to use instead.
1st and im waiting cuz i craft the status sneak armors which is tzi and teostra lance. its pretty good and i did also use the teostra leggings with kulu helm for lock on, i just kept on locking on monsters tail, just keep on charging.
Have a quick question. If blast is ailment status element, does its skill build up faster when you and someone else with that same skills apply to the monster? I would imagine two people with Teostra weapons help each other to increase the blast build up against it. If so, could the fixed damage 5 percent overall against the monster from the blast be multiply based on the number of blast weapon users without the hunter unity skills?
Each person has their own blast build up. It doesnt stack. So theoretically, if you had a group of people with blast. It could do great. But thats only if you had a group of people with blast weapons. With better things coming down the road and how hard it is to build them, your average player isn't going to get the required set.
Given how much time we get to fight elder dragons, wouldn't a blast weapon easily proc 5 times minimum and do your share of the damage which is 25% just on blast damage alone? Seems like using blast on elser dragons will be a blast
Its not worth it. Elements versus Elders do 150% damage. You'll never beat out an elemental weapon at full power with that damage boost. Even against some elders blast isnt worth it. Example is Kushala. Poison is best because it not only does damage, but also helps with Kushalas wind barrier.
The problem is that they have significantly higher buildup values. However, I'm not denying it would be amazing to see those numbers especially against 8* - I know seeing the 2900 damage poison ticks was really satisfying haha
So, unless it is for part breaking there is no reason to ever go blast VS posion? Posion does so much more dmg vs a small 5% that i can't see any reason to build blast with tessera materials when pukei weappns exist or am i missing something? Comparing this to elements is pretty hard, why no comparison to posion that is another status element that does damage?
Blast could do more work against Poison and vice versa. But poison has more uses. A few examples against Legiana it stops it from using ice attacks and flying. Against Kushala you weaken the wind pressure. Poison also scales according to HP unlike blast which does a fixed amount of HP. Overall Poison is the better one to go for. Blast requires you to have an Elder Dragon weapon right now. Its 100 times easier to build a poison weapon versus going after a blast weapon.
The reason would be the resistance of the monster. Poison would outdamage Blast against Deviljho and Tobi Kadachi, and Blast would out damage Poison against Radobaan and Banbaro. It's like any other status/element.
Poison scales according to the monsters total HP for tick damages. Blast is FIXED AT 5% of the monsters TOTAL HP. Group hunts increase monsters HP. It’s not that complicated. They even said it is a FIXED it in the article lol.

Finally got burst on my rathian gloves, but *immediately* right after, got critical eye on my odogaron mail! And just like that, my first full driftsmelt set is complete: +5 crit eye, +5 burst, +3 crit boost, +1 W.E. for that Mr. Beast SnS!😊 (Disclaimer: I know it isn’t *the* best, but due to some earlier lucky driftsmelts, and several armor pieces that will work well in multiple other sets, I don’t regret it!😅)
Haha you’re pretty right! It depends on what it is through. If it’s something I really want to build for sure. But if not really interested like Teo bow I’ll just flat out upgrade it to 7.5 haha.
They work closely with Capcom so it wasn’t a surprise that Teostra LBG was fire because it only has fire ammo in the main series games. Unless it’s a collab weapon it’s not going to go too left field with what it can do (unless it’s bows).
For collab weapons for sure. Looks like for main series they follow it for the most part unless it’s something like Pink Rathain bows hidden element which is why it’s a Dragon Element bow.

I think it's still pretty good knowing that you were using G6 vs 8 star Kulu 😂😂😂..... I'm going for Artillery lvl 5 first then the bow.

All you have to do is a successful iai spirit slash counter. After that tap again to do a helm splitter.
