Bill was a "Ride or Die" fan with the Bird-McHale-Parish Celtics, not a huge surprise that he hated the KG-Pierce Celtics being broken up, at least in how he initially reacted to it right off the bat. He's a fan first and foremost, and he had a strong emotional connection to those guys, especially Pierce. I'm a Spurs fan, I'd have had the same initial reaction if "later years" Tony and Manu had been shipped off for future draft picks (though our front office has earned a whole lot of trust, and yeah that includes the Kawhi-Uncle Dennis drama).
