    Just finished making this for my kid's Halloween costume and it looks so badass! He's super excited to wear it and, at 13, it's pretty tough to impress him these days. Another great tutorial!
    On a side note, last year I used your crusader knight helmet tutorial to make the helmet for my younger sons Templar Knight costume with a handmade tunic, sword and boots. He loved the entire outfit so much, he's wearing it again this year. Can't thank you enough for putting out such great tutorials that I, as a complete newbie to cosplay, can follow with ease. Small detail I noticed right away when you did the rust: you dragged the brush down, simulating when it's wet and the rust would end up dripping down from the source.

    This turned out great! Was low key mad when it popped into my feed though since I just finished a 6 month journey to make the witch king as my 2nd ever foam project last month lol. 2 months of that was spent faffing about with the helmet half because inexperience and half because there were almost no good instructions or patterns I could find. A few 10 year old forum posts and about 4 prototypes/pattern adjustments later we got there though :)

    My first attempt at the helm was made from craft foam - I sewed the back of the central spike so it'd keep its shape; the spikes were made from index cards rolled into cones. My second attempt was paper mached grocery bag paper. That one turned out better...but the mice ate it. Hopefully the third time's the charm!

      @@SKSProps si de hecho use foam para hacer las curvas ya que con el cartón se me dificultaba, use la misma técnica que usaste en el video pero ya después pegue el foam a un carton para que estuviera más resistente, ya solo me falta pintarlo que es lo más difícil para mí jaja

    You think that too spike might drool after some time being just foam? I’d think you’d want to back it with a wooden rod or something to keep it ridged.

    • @SKSProps
      @SKSProps  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I assume you are referring to the “top” spike and might “droop” after time. But no it won’t because the v groove is glued together with super glue / accelerant and then reinforced with the surebonder cosplay hot glue on the backside

    Very helpful and very well explained :) Much appreciated, thank you.
    Is there a specific reason why you are using Superglue instead of contact cement?
    Currently i'm building the Warhammer bolter and am struggling with placing bits, that need to be placed precicesly while being bonded with contact cement. The contact cement allows for no correction at all but the surface is too large to use superglue. I'm about to try baking paper as a buffer, place a testpiece and then pull out the baking paper.. no idea if it'll work :D

    • @SKSProps
      @SKSProps  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! I pretty much always use superglue vs contact cement unless it is a large or heavy wear area. Superglue just keeps the build cleaner and is easier to work with on small details

    When you say you use 1 inch mop brush… do you refer to the length of the bristle? How wide do you generally use?The link points to synthetic squirrel-brush… is that your go to type of brush? Thank you in advance!!

    • @SKSProps

      Actually here is one closer to what I used in this video but I have multiple brushes on hand bit.ly/3f0Xbic White Goat Silver Mop Brush - Oval, Size 1" - but just about any mop brush will work you just want to make sure the bristles aren't to stiff that will cause more brush strokes to be visible

    So i recently printed this pdf off and attempted to carve outvof foam but because i tried to adjust sizes for a bigger look its proportions are really off. Would the printed size on an A3 sheet work better as a more appropriate and accurate size, help please 😬😁

    • @SKSProps
      @SKSProps  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Watch the how to print templates video. You don’t need to adjust anything based on your paper size. Just open the pdf in adobe and in the print screen adjust the scale to 105% or so to scale proportionally over the entire piece.
