I have a bantam Cochin, and she is a winter layer. When all my standards have stopped, that little girl just keeps on laying threw almost the entire winter 🥰
We added two almost full grown bantums to our pullets after a few months. So my girls were established, but also not fully grown. Some of my girls did try to fight the bantams however, one of the bantams established very quickly that she wouldn’t be messed with. We named her “Evil”Lynn. She is a fierce little thing, and now defends the yard of squirrels and chipmunks lol. The other bantam is super sweet, still gets picked on a bit but I always give her extra love. We named her Princess Fifi
Just bought 2 bantams last night ... 1 roo 1 hen We have 8 henss ...4 sexlinks(Rhode Island red hybred) 2 blue copper marran and 2 black copper marans ....now I feel better hearing they do adapt well I have them secluded from the rest of the flock for now but in the same coop ❤️🤗
I have a breeding pair of Nankin Bantams ❤ and i know you say that they can't sit on as many eggs as a normal sized hen but my little Goldilocks has 13 eggs and to my surprise all are fertile. 😅 She's been doing a wonderful job as momma and keeping them all turned and warm. Plus my male applie named Screech is an amazing papa just guarding her and making sure she's not bothered.
I have 5 baby cochins, one is a rooster. I've named them all after characters from the criminal minds series. Jj, my boy, just crowed for the first time yesterday. I know that they have their own vocabulary, but I can't really tell the difference of what they're saying as they're so young. Normally it's all tweet tweet, but in the evening, it's usually lower toned coos. Then they all fly on me and perch on my shoulders before the sunsets. 🤣
Had the same thing happen to me with two of them they replaced them and new ones are doing well still haven't figured it out as the other two of the four were doing and still doing great
Hi I have a Moma colored New Hampshire like bantam is a very good mother and a white/black tailed Japanese mix with a feather footed but not Shure that breed rooster. He'll do a little dance for Moma hen when he's interested in having more chicks! lol Momma hen hatched three little hens from her and popa rooster, two like the mother and one with feather footed white and black the other two are one white with a black tailed and light brown with a black tail and no feathers on their feet...the Moma is a good egg layer and I've gotten almost a egg a day ..though she does get broody and I got her to hatch with her eggs ,eggs from two Golden wyandotte's and a Rhode island red the popa is a good rooster and helps raise the chick's he will find food and calls them when he does...now they have grown bigger than momma hen but she will put them in their place quickly but the other three little batam's are older now that moma hen let's the others be put in their pecking order by the bigger ones but when they where still tiny wouldn't let them bully the smaller ones because they could of killed them..and poppa rooster too did the same...so they have excellent parent traits I haven't seen in other breeds both parents taking care of the chicks...and is the foundation of my flock as I have only 6 hens and one rooster....and let them free range... hopefully when I get to hatch some wyandotte and Japanese mix will have a little bigger hen's and select only rooster that are good parents like their dad.. have you ever heard of a rooster that was a good parent and helped raise the chick's? This little rooster even helped sit on the eggs? Never saw a rooster do that before.. Thanks for your video's I appreciate and like watching them!
THAT is one COOL rooster ya got there! Protect him at all costs! I wouldn't ever introduce another male into your flock; just keep that guy bc he sounds AWSOME! I know mama chicken is blessed to have him too! 🐔 🐥 🐥 🐥 🐔
Bantam hens are my favorite farm Bird. it time politicans world wide looked after poultry farmers. they work very hard.poultry farmers provide egg food for people, and hen meat, so we must feed farm birds more naturel. and all farm birds should be free rance. @ in door birds should be banned and have out door farm birds instead. healter bird healtly for people as well.
Please do not add music!!!! It is too much for my ears. You speak through the whole video non stop. Now you add music droning in the back. That is as irritating as a jackhammer heard thru a business meeting. That jackhammer will irritate every speaker and listener at that meeting. That is the ONLY effect your music has in a demo video. I had to stop the video to give my ears a rest. Music is never welcome and barely tolerated by some and intensely disliked by others like me. You achieve less subscribers due to the music spoiling the whole video. There is a lot of info to absorb here and I want to hear it, but NOT THE MUSIC NOISE PLEASE. Sheesh. Why do people keep doing this? Music is so incredibly irritating and painful on the ears.

Hey I have a question, one of my batoms died a couple days after I bought it from TS (Tractor Supply) I had a heat plate food, water how did it die?
Had the same thing happen to me with two of them they replaced them and new ones are doing well still haven't figured it out as the other two of the four were doing and still doing great
What about bearded vs non-bearded hens?!
Very interesting!
Is there a spray I can use to keep those foot feather mites away
Check out neem oil, peppermint oil, clove oil, and/ tea tree oil for a natural way to keep bugs at bay
