Ahhhh, your all so amazing. I myself, have been on my own trying to understand and learn about this amazing ancient form of knowledge, and apply it today. Your all amazing and brave. I felt a sense of belonging in this video with the quest to know, learn, and practice what our Ancestors lived so many moons ago. Northern B.C., Canada Indigenous Woman.
Thank you kindly for sharing this with the world ladies. I been fishin since my pop decided to take me fishin down at the creek for some trout at the ripe old age of three and I caught my first rainbow! That was it from that moment on I have been shamelessly addicted to fishin! I still get that same high out of it that I did that day going on 46 years gone by since pops has gone now sept 23rd 2020 he was my best friend and I'm lost but when I am fishing I know he is rite there with me. I can remember almost every detail of that day pop took me fishing and I caught that rainbow when I tell people that they say no you can't that was 50 years ago I can't tell you what I ate for dinner yesterday but for some reason I can remember in detail almost every fish that we caught over many years! It is almost religious to me it touches my spirit and soul in a way I can't put into words! Sorry for the novel but I got that exact same beautiful feeling the way second I saw this video I can't count the times I have wondered if and how this could be done the colors and patterns of the endless variety of fish skin seemed to perfect to eat or throw in the garden and it made want to figure out how I could preserve and use them for most of my life thank you for sharing I felt like pops was here watching this with me for a minute or two God bless you ladies! Ps. It's so bad ever since pops passed I find myself thinking to myself I hope he gets a good spot on river of life so when I get there we can get to it you know that the fishing is beyond anything we can possibly imagine I might need help it's all I care about fishing!
That was very interesting and it is great to show projects that people had been made probably hundreds f years ago and so glad it is back out to see it now days
Fascinating! It looks as if this is an art that has *almost* been lost, by skipping a generation or two of parental teaching. It's good to see these artists re-engineering it, before it disappears altogether.

The HeZhe people of northeast China make fish leather clothing too! It’s very time consuming and difficult to make. It seems to be a concern for indigenous minorities around the world that they would lose their traditions in the future.
reesa beee Hahaha and here I am, a student designer thinking about contacting them to create skins for my senior collection I am starting next month. I'm focusing on ideas of sustainability though. Reconstructing second hand clothes and using all natural materials and processes.

Interesting. I have heard that antler was used to soften the skins. Wish there was a full in-depth look at that.
I would love to learn more about this.
Beautiful

This is really cool, is there a way to see the process they used?

I could only imagine the smell
Not that bad honestly.
Don't let the mainstream fashion get a hold of this survival technique. There won't be any exotic fishes or fishes period.
