    I loved Mitch’s playing the first time I heard Are You Experienced at 17 years old, but really like the way you have broken down Manic Depression so I can appreciate his technique on the track even more! thanks.

    Very good explanation to break down those tips so they matter when executing an impeccable interpretation of that drummer of our golden age as was Mitch Miitchell, who was the one who best suited Jimi Hendrix's style.

    You sir!!! Have just earned a subscription. I hit a standstill in my drum practicing and you just helped me get everything moving again. Thank you so much, please keep making videos forever. You are now second in my favorite TH-cam drummers list. The first being Mike Johnston.

    Thank you very much for your order! I posted your Pack to you first class this afternoon so it should be with you in just a few days :)
    I use Sony headphones but any would have done the job. I also highly recommend getting either a Yamaha or a Roland electronic drum kit. These guys produce the best in the world.
    A Chili Peppers resurgence is on the books for the future as well :)
    Thanks again and happy drumming to you!
    Rob

    OMG. All this time wasted and you just showed me what I was looking for in the first 2 mins. That is the coolest rudiment in the world and everytime a drummer throws those in everyone looks and says, "Coooool!" lol. Thnx dude

    I must have fallen asleep or was sick the day they taught the RLLRRL triplet lesson. I have always struggled to figure out Mitch's speedy fills and you've solved it in one short lesson...awesome thanks

    Hey Rob! I've just started drumming several months ago and it is my favourite thing to do in the world. Although I am only in grade 7, I hope I can play for people, and make it as a drummer. I wanted to say thank you for making these amazing videos because they really help me to learn how to be an awesome drummer! They really encourage me to play harder stuff, and to drum more. Thank you for inspiring me. Keep on making epic videos!!! -Ethan

    You're welcome, buddy. If you love drumming then you WILL make it as a drummer...for as long as you really want it.
    Keep up the playing and happy drumming to you!
    Rob

    Hi, I use Sennheiser HD280 headphones with my Roland TD-11. They sound great and are very comfortable. They are around $100 here in the US. Rob is correct about electric kits, Roland and Yamaha are the best.

    What program do you use to tab out the parts? ( At 3:08 ). Great breakdown of the solo parts btw.

    Can you do a tutorial for the chorus part of "Eriatarka" by the Mars Volta? I've been trying to figure it out, but I haven't been able to.

    You mean, you love to hate them right?...RIGHT?!? ;)
    Rudiments is just a boring name given to cool drum licks if you think about it. I love 'em! :)

    Hi Rob. Thanks for the lessons. Just wondering if you could tell me if you are employing your pinky when doing the fast 6 stroke rolls, or just your middle and ring finger. Having trouble getting the required speed.

    • @DrumsTheWord
      @DrumsTheWord  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, yes, definitely utilising my little finger when doing the double strokes. It's a technique that just takes time to learn and perfect. Keep up the practice, mate. You will get it eventually! Rob

    Isn't that a paradiddlediddle variation rather than a 6stroke roll ?the doubles are the same speed as the 2 accented singles?

    This is difficult for me to play even at a ridiculously slow tempo. This is where having a live instructor helps.

    That's what pisses me off! I love them but I don't have enough time to practice so I get frustrated every time I get into it. But yes they are really cool licks :)

  • @68arclight
    @68arclight 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    How can it be 3/4? If it were, there would be 6 8th notes. That clearly doesn't work. I think this is 9/8. The first 2 beats have the middle 8th left out giving it a shuffle or swing feel. The final beat has all three 8th notes.

    • @DrumsTheWord
      @DrumsTheWord  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And yet you can clearly see that it can be written and counted in 3/4. You could also rewrite for 9/8. Music notation is very flexible.

    • @68arclight
      @68arclight 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DrumsTheWord l can see how 3/4 could be 6/8 but the 6/8 feel is completely different. 3/4 is 6 8th notes not 9 8th notes. It never will be. The accepted 3/4 for Manic Depression is not correct.

    • @DrumsTheWord
      @DrumsTheWord  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But you can write it in triplets within 3/4 as I showed you! Please understand that music notation is very flexible and that you can write the same rhythm many ways. I do this for a living.
