To add to kautuk's pigeon story, back in oct 2020 my father and i rescued a kitten about a month and a half. We already had a mother cat and her 3 kittens at our place so my parents decided to give the new baby kitten to a kid who lives about 100 mtr across the street from ours. The kid came and took the kitten around 4 in the evening and i was upset but told myself the same thing "if you love someone set it free blah blue blah". Cut to 11:45 at the night the kitten ran from their house and came to the back door of our house and then i had him till he died due to a viral infection going around in jan 2022. His name was chanchal.

My mother says this whenever I cringe about not taking something extra (like blankets or food) when travelling - "Bhuk naso pan shirjori aso", which she translated loosely as - backup and preparation should be independent of your hunger. I think her bad translation has more meaning, also she's right about the extra food and blankets :D
