It was great! I also felt like there was a bit more chatter back and forth between Laura and Felix this episode, and I liked that too. Felix almost becomes the audience substitute on an extra level.
I felt your heartache when the house became so much more work than you anticipated, but it's going to be so magnificent when you're content (I feel like you'll never really be done, just because you learn and grow and come up with so many amazing projects!) I've learned a lot about eco-friendly options and plan to adopt them, or options like them, in upgrading my own home. I think you've had an impact on others trying to use efficient responsible materials and you can feel proud about that. I'm looking forward to even more.
We have doors on our house that locked in a similar way. The inside handle would allow you to exit and it was really easy to lock myself out. I literally wore my house key on a chain around my neck for 6 months after we moved in. 😂
I never thought I would ever get excited over a door, but your new door is a stunner Laura. All of its features are very impressive, even if it does lack WiFi. 😆 Congratulations!
I think the word Laura needed at the beginning was "home wrap" often known in the US by the brand name Tyvek. It is like a tarp in that it provides a water barrier, but it's tight and attached to the structure rather than loose.
Amazing door¡ highly recommend to cover the door with very good thick plastic as well as the door frame as during the construction it gets ruined by so many things coming in and out. It would be smart to also put some padding to not bump the door with tools and furniture.🎉
Your front door is hand-made?? Wow, no wonder it seems to be so high quality too, seeing all that insulation inside the door and all the finishing touches just made me appreciate it all the more
Please make sure that you blur your keys in the video. Keys can be recreated from just photos alone and if it's not blurred you can act as if everyone who saw this video has the keys to your home now
Came here to comment this as well. I dunno that anybody is going to grief you in Germany like they might in other parts of the world, but this is solid advice. Consider a new lock cylinder (and pls pls pls, have a thumbwheel or reachable key on the inside!)
Unfortunately it might already be too late, but hopefully she sees this and updates the video anyway. As soon as I saw those keys on screen this is where my mind went. A self locking door won't do you much good if someone just 3D prints a key.
It’s so good that you gutted this house that was full of mold! People don’t realize how hard it is to get rid of mold. Most mold test are not sensitive enough, especially air testing. I would throw all that wood away. Your new front door is absolutely gorgeous and I love the pattern on the glass! It’s really unique.
Congratulations on the new door! It's so awesome to see the house taking shape in leaps and bounds like this. Also, that transition from 5:48-5:51 was Awesome, I had to rewind to make sure I wasn't imagining it!
I have to say that the new door impresses the heck out of me. Very nice! I wish this had been available when we built our home. As for the old door, my recommendation (for what it's worth) is that you should keep it until you have your first party in the new house. Then, you could give it away as a... "door prize." 😁
What makes this door the most beautiful door I have ever seen is not only the look of it but knowing how it was made. The quality of it. Sheesh, I’m glad no one got hurt carrying it. 😂😂 I remember when I use to lock my car keys IN the car. I was much younger. Imagine how often I would be locking myself out of the house now. 😂
Laura, du weißt nicht wie froh ich bin daß du wieder lachen kannst! Und deine Tür, diese neue Tür ist super mega geil, klassisch bei dem Haus, du machst eine Perle aus deinem Haus! ❤
Says tarp twice. One of those times literally before saying this sentence: "I always forget this word." 😂 Then proceeds to look it up online. You're a gem. Never change.
IMO the front door is the most important thing for the house exterior. Its the first thing you hand touches and it should tell you something about the space you are about to enter. Happy for you Laura!
I'd say it's the little things that make a big difference in a huge project like this, but that's a freaking massive door. Looks great and I bet it feels good to cross another item off the list. One step closer to being able to move in. Thanks for sharing!
My German is rusty, but the last comment at the door I understood and laughed at. The house is coming along and I can't wait to see what else you and your team do.
Why don't you use the old front door as an internal door? I am sure that you can fill the letter box opening. That way you retain another element of the history of the house
Yep, I was thinking the same thing. That old door, & even the upper window, might look nice to an office or pantry, & it'd certainly let in a good amount of light to any area it's used in. But knowing Laura, after following her page for so long, if they're both in good condition, I'm sure she'll come up with something interesting & wonderfully unique. 😊
Your door adventures remind me of my father. When I was in highschool he got permission to remove all of the doors from an elementary school that was being knocked down. We probably removed 40 doors and brought them to our farm. Some (not all) had asbestos filling inside of them, which we discovered after the journey. Old doors make wonderful building material, and after sorting through which doors were actually solid doors, we have many different projects around the house made of them.
Love that you love your door! I recommend changing the internal fitting for a thumb turn instead, for fire escape without any pause or fumbling for keys x
Whoo hoo! What a very cool door in all the ways a door can be cool. :D So exciting! And wait....cat? There was a cat? I don't remember you talking about a cat!
Laura, I hope you do something to protect that beautiful door during the remaining restoration. I would hate to see it get damaged. Also, something to protect it from getting slammed open. Love your show.
I grew up on construction sites so I have always appreciated when workers put in the effort to make sure everything fits perfectly. And props on getting that door up there, I've been in that spot many times
Nice! Thanks so much for sharing this. I love your videos. If I had that door, I would be accidentally locking myself out of the house every day! Ha ha. But I love how big and insulated the door is. That was cool to see how it was made. Okay. As always, you inspire me to go and create something. So off I go. Have a great day.
I hope the lock has a setting that you can make it stay unlocked. That can also be a safety issue! You’ll end up hiding a key under the mat if you lock yourself out of the house more than one time while doing some work in the yard.
CONGRATULATIONS 🎉👏🏻 In many ways, the door event also makes us Glad together with you !!! It's kind of honour being part of your journey as at least good vibes senders 😊 All the best, Laura See ya, blue skies 🤙🏻🍀📸
I built and hung my first door this summer, and I find that there is no better way to appreciate what a professional does than try to do what they do as an amateur. That door looks amazing.
I really enjoy your videos Laura, but those of us who follow you haven't told us about the beautiful ring you have on your left hand!!!! Congratulations¡¡¡¡¡👍
Oh! Laura it is fantastic! All the modern benefits of insulation and locking, but it is styled to really suit the age. I love the etching - its beautiful too Great choice.
Hearing Laura say "it's never a good sign when the spiders are moldy" made me feel very seen as someone who had many moldy spiders in their garage until this year when we finally were able to address it.
Nice, airtight, well-insulated door-and secure. Although probably more than a little bit expensive, it's the sustainable option: it will endure over time and keep cold drafts OUT of the house, reducing energy consumption-a great choice.
Lovely door. The pattern on the glass and the door handle truly fit the house. Great workmanship. It was very interesting to see the building process of the door.
You could use the old door to build a front entrance bench where you can place shoes or something and then the old door gets to live a new life near its old hangout. Plus, the glass could be used as some sort of decorative element.
it’s so great to see you so happy at Liselotte. And to see you joking around with Felix again! will you be able to continue work inside liselotte this winter?
Good to see the locking of the door in the end. I bought something similar 20 years ago that has 3 latches and there are little fingers in these latches that make them pop out further to act as locking bolts. Somehow I am unable to find something similar for our office door in the Netherlands. Time to take my bike across the border and see if I can find this in a Fachmarkt. As you realized: don't forget your key. You will need a locksmith to open the lock for you
What a beautifull door. Best to lock it anyway for burglary safety, my brother learned that the hard way, they made a little hole in the glass and they open the door with the handle feom the inside. Same goes for windows with a handle (especially downstairs), always get lockable ones and lock them.
What an absolutely magnificent door! We had a key like that (with the dimples instead of teeth) to our front door growing up, apparently those are on the rarer side in the US, locksmiths would seriously upcharge us for key cutting.
Self locking doors are great if you ALWAYS have your keys, recycle the old door inside the house, refinish the wood and frost the windows for a classic look.
Laura, you humor and spirit is uplifting. I bet this project can be very tough at times, but I hope we, your viewers, can help keep you upbeat and happy!
That door is spectacular❗👍🎉 🎊 😮 In the U.S... The separate section above the old door was called the "transom ". The separate "flip" lock under the knob is called a "deadbolt". When you removed the tarp over the scaffolding, was what you were referring to to keep the insulation dry, the "house wrap"? A common brand here is Tyvek.
Laura's smile can light up a room. Very energy efficient.
And our hearts ! Very good comment !
Time for Laura to make herself a superb and wonderful key storage for her home!
that transition at 5:48 was very good, it caught me off guard. Nicely done Felix
I didn't even catch that! Good eye
I had to watch it a second time to see what you were talking about … editing superstar, Felix.
Super cool
Really smooth !!
It was great! I also felt like there was a bit more chatter back and forth between Laura and Felix this episode, and I liked that too. Felix almost becomes the audience substitute on an extra level.

It should be in both of their contracts that Laura and Felix always stay a team. Their energy is such perfection. ❤❤

Yeah, this is, without a doubt, the most excited I have ever been about a door.
That door is a true work of art! Congrats!
Aww, a door big enough for me so I don't need to duck when I visit you? How thoughtful of you 🥰
The cameraman’s wise comments always crack me up. Great sense of humour! Beautiful door Laura!
I think the word Laura needed at the beginning was "home wrap" often known in the US by the brand name Tyvek. It is like a tarp in that it provides a water barrier, but it's tight and attached to the structure rather than loose.

The door is beautiful. Would be a shame to lose the tiles in the foyer. They look even more stunning with the door.
I think new tiles will look even better! I can't wait to see what Laura chooses.
It's always a good feeling when you are rebuilding and get to the point when you hang a new front door. It makes everything feel close to being real.
Your front door is hand-made?? Wow, no wonder it seems to be so high quality too, seeing all that insulation inside the door and all the finishing touches just made me appreciate it all the more

Super wichtiger Kommentar, hoffentlich liest sie das!
"This is the lock picking lawyer. What I have for you today is a video capture..."
Came here to comment this as well. I dunno that anybody is going to grief you in Germany like they might in other parts of the world, but this is solid advice. Consider a new lock cylinder (and pls pls pls, have a thumbwheel or reachable key on the inside!)
@@jofathan maybe, but there's always a chance of a stalker... Internet fame unfortunately attracts such creeps

I was thinking if she planed the wood OUTSIDE while wearing a respirator, she could save most of that wood ! Mold is on the surface layer.
Congratulations on the new door! It's so awesome to see the house taking shape in leaps and bounds like this. Also, that transition from 5:48-5:51 was Awesome, I had to rewind to make sure I wasn't imagining it!

Man, that door is setting a high bar for the aesthetics of the rest of the house!
Love the door and love seeing a ring on your finger 🌈❤️
Now that is a door….Wow!!
IMO the front door is the most important thing for the house exterior. Its the first thing you hand touches and it should tell you something about the space you are about to enter. Happy for you Laura!

Yes, and my first thought when Laura said the door was self locking, was I would lock my self out a lot!
Why don't you use the old front door as an internal door? I am sure that you can fill the letter box opening. That way you retain another element of the history of the house
My thoughts too! Maybe an office door, since it’s not exactly conducive to bedroom privacy.
Maybe repurpose the letter box for a key storage system ;-)
And an outside hide-a-key (in some cool disguise) for all the times she may accidentally get locked out!

Awesome Door! And the automatic lock is a plus.
The door is sooo beautyful. Thanks also for the short video on how the door was made!❤
“I didn’t even know I had trash cans!” “The Spiders are mouldy!” 😂😂😂 so many gems on this video!
Beautiful door !! Now cover it up and protect it while your still under construction !!
Wow, that door is gorgeous! I would not mind inheriting that door! ❤❤
That's a great door, very elegant.
Very nice! I enjoy watching your attention to details and how you don’t cut corners but do things right! It will be so worth it in the long run!
I really like the tiles in the foyer. They have character and speak to the age of the house.
Love that you love your door! I recommend changing the internal fitting for a thumb turn instead, for fire escape without any pause or fumbling for keys x

This Door is a real Gem !
I have a friend who made cabinets, as a hobby, who used those ring clamps they used while making your door. BTW, it's a beautiful door.

Makes American home construction look like doll-house construction. Amazing work.
That door is absolutely gorgeous.
One hefty door, no one’s going to kick that door in. It also looks very nice and vintage. ❤
Now THAT is a door. And good to see it comes with a proper key too!
the quickly changing background music, to fit every change in emotion, is hilarious :')
Literally said "Tarp" 10 seconds before forgetting what the word was! LOL Love watching this series! Cant wait to see it completed!
That door is almost as beautiful as the smile on your face!
Oh My Gosh! When you first stood it up I had to stop and say Wow what a gorgeous door!!! 🖤 🖤 🖤
(Now back to the vid.)
Thank you…this is a very timely video…we are today choosing doors for our new house.😀 Jinxy
I hope the lock has a setting that you can make it stay unlocked. That can also be a safety issue! You’ll end up hiding a key under the mat if you lock yourself out of the house more than one time while doing some work in the yard.
Beeindruckende Tür 😊
I'm glad to see Laura happy ...
CONGRATULATIONS 🎉👏🏻

See ya, blue skies 🤙🏻🍀📸
That door was worth every damn dime! Beautifully crafted!
I built and hung my first door this summer, and I find that there is no better way to appreciate what a professional does than try to do what they do as an amateur. That door looks amazing.
I love how so many things in Germany are hand made by such highly skilled people ❤
I really enjoy your videos Laura, but those of us who follow you haven't told us about the beautiful ring you have on your left hand!!!! Congratulations¡¡¡¡¡👍

4:42 I liebe die perfekte synchronisation der musik mit deinem gesichtsausdruck!!!😂
Those wonderful people surely know how to male Great Doors !
Black door, wow will look amazing, The stoop would look amazing in Brass, like all the Locks
what a door ... what a door .... what a door ... Congratulations !!
That door is a big heckin gorgeous portal!
0:20 Using the word "tarp" and then a few seconds later totally forgetting about it. So relatable 😂
What a lovely door, Laura! 🥰

Das Portal zwischen ihnen und dem universum ist jetzt versiegelt and It is beautiful.Kudos to all, massive teamwork!
Wow! that door is a masterpiece of woodworking. So much better than plastic or fiberglass. Brava!
Awesome door. I never felt like I could be so amazed by a door before
the drill at 11:06 - 11:09 matched up really beautifully with the music :')
it’s so great to see you so happy at Liselotte. And to see you joking around with Felix again! will you be able to continue work inside liselotte this winter?
Your new front door is absolutely beautiful!
Beautiful door! ❤
OMGOSH! That's a beautiful door❤
wonderful door thanks Laura and Felix
I love the door! It’s so beautiful.
Door! Massive, beautiful DOOR! Yay!
That door is beautiful!!! The company that made it are really talented.
The key ism on a shackle! 😮 epic!
love that door!! I always turn off and/or remove self lock on close features because that allows you to lock yourself out of the house. 🤪
❤. Hugs from 🇨🇦

The new door is beautiful and makes it feel like everything is coming together. It's all the decision making that makes remodeling/building so hard.
Well done ! Be carrefull to no lock yourself in the garden

Laura, you humor and spirit is uplifting. I bet this project can be very tough at times, but I hope we, your viewers, can help keep you upbeat and happy!
wow, the transition at 5:49-5:50 i ha d to rewatch 2 or 3 times. good work felix
I hope she adds a door stop or somthing to make sure the door doesn't damage the wall or it self on the wall
That door is spectacular❗👍🎉 🎊 😮
