I bought Asus Zenbook 14 in october 2021 for around $700. It has awesome build quality (my friends say it has the Macbook feel to it; very slim n lightweight) packs MX450 25W, Ryzen 5 5500U, downside is the 8GB soldered ram, 256GB SSD (upgraded to Samsung 980 1TB SSD) but all in all its an all rounder for light gaming, video editing, productivity, entertainment does everything super fast. Packs a crisp n clear 100% srgb 1080p display and gives wonderful battery backup. After more than an year of usage still gives 6 to 7 hours of backup on light usage with 50% brightness. Was hesitant to buy Asus but now in love with this device.

I always considered mx450 an interesting card but also not worth buying. I can find laptops even with gtx 1650 ti cheaper than laptops with mx450. What's interesting and disappointing about it is the fact that it comes in 4 different variants with gddr5/gddr6 and different tdp from 12w up to 28w. The most powerful variant should be significantly better than a gtx 1050 laptop but it's limited by the 2gb vram and it ends up being worse in gaming than gtx 1050 4gb (I mean in games that utilize more than 2gb vram even at low settings and you go over 2gb vram usage in games like gta 5 or pubg if you want to go for high settings). MX150 and MX250 have 4gb variants but mx350 and mx450 comes with only 2gb variants
@@dusk5927 I agree on the price being bad but comparing it to the 1650 and such doesn't make that much sense to me because the 1650 is usually found in hardcore gaming laptops specifically for gaming. The mx450 is in ultrabooks used for casual gaming so yeah, I don't think the lower VRAM is an issue, at least not for me. The price definitely is though

Even in ultrabooks it's the same thing because there's also gtx 1650 max-q which is still better and around the same price if not cheaper

You should try undervolting it with MSI Afterburner using the OC scanner. Because the MX450 is a cut-down GTX 1650 you should get big gains from undervolting, anything from 15-30% I'd imagine.
I got this gpu in my laptop combined with ryzen 7 5700u and 16 gbs of ram running windows 11 on SSD 512Gb i don’t really use if for gaming but i have a pc to do that for me its mostly for school work and photoshop it does a great job for that with all the things running in the background the laptop is killing it

Yes it is common in laptops, while playing games i placed the laptop on book so hot air can pass easily and i place the laptop in front of air cooler during summer season, in winter season no need of air cooler or table fan

is mobile 3060 overkill? seems like the mx450 is capable of holding its own and the 3060 isn't necessary at all. i'm looking at games (preferrably on medium, non-performance modes) fortnite, dead by daylight, sims 4, yuzu emu (choco racing), rpcsx2 emu (random stutters on my 9900k with no dedicated gpu, but plays well enough), resident evil 7 (prefer medium or something that doesn't look like garbage.. again, playing on my 9900k with no dedicated chip is ugly as hell and still struggles). purpose of buying a laptop isn't to replace my desktop, but for my lady overseas when i come to visit, she wants to play these things, but when i come home, i don't want a laptop that outdoes my desktop.. since i will be buying a 3080 soon.
