I was 7 years old when I first helped my grandpa collect sap and helped make maple syrup. After 43 years, I'm finally starting the tradition bachelor's up again. The gathering of family and friends is heartwarming and brings back memories and tears. I miss my grandpa. Thank you for helping bring back those memories with this story and video.

Love this video! I learned a lot but most of all I love the older lady. I’d love to sit out in the yard and listen to her stories. Can’t wait for the next video!

As a tech guy, I always wonder why the gang do not simply strain the ice out…….the ice is all water, and because the name of the game is to get the water out, why not do it as ice? It has the added advantage that you are reducing the heat history of your syrup……what am I missing??

Thank you for this video. The hardship, effort and time it takes to produce maple syrup...all that made me realize why the ancients called my homeland the "Golden Land". We took for granted all the abundant natural resources that we have.
They could only make that much maple syrup once a year while we could make hundred times more daily with palm sap into syrup or sugar. The palm sap got a very high sugar content requiring to boil it just for several hours up to half a day only to turn it into solid blocks of sugar. Leave it unboiled for a day and the sap becomes wine, a week and it becomes vinegar....available all year long...

Nice video, But the hydrometer has marks on it to tell you when its ready. Its more than just the float floating.
