excuse me Mr. Tasty I noticed that you use a transparent chatbox but it's darker than normal for easier readability, how did you do it? edit: found the plugin :) love you Tasty
you dont need to take it off, if youre used to it stick with it. there pros that are really good with mouse acceleration on, theres also an fps game (i forgot what was it) that everyone in the pro scene uses mouse acceleration.
I should update since people are still seeing this. Humongofrog is right, cs was using my raw input, but this definitely changed the feel of desktop use/windowed games like osrs
This 1000% made me better almost immediately. Got a new mouse, changed cursor speed, and switched to stretched on not full screen and immediately went from dying at vardorvis every 3rd trip and only getting 2 max kills, to getting 6 kill trips and not dying a single time regularly since switching. Genuinely did not realize how bad my settings were prior to this. Thanks so much tasty!
One plugin that helped me going from trash to less trash is the true tile plugin. Knowing that you skip a tile when running for example, and just knowing where your character truly is, is huuuge for alot of content. Great video as always 10/10
Same. I can't imagine playing without it now. The moment you learn your character skips the tile which it moves over when moving 2 tiles (you always move 2 when running) combined with knowing where your character actually is at all times... It unlocks so much mobility during boss fights that are designed to make you feel cornered. Like corrupted gauntlet, zebak (toa/raids3), vardorvis to name a few.
Even better is when true tile is highlighted through the Visual Metronome plugin so that the highlight alternates between two different colors, nothing helped my gameplay and understanding of the tick system more than this
When learning, look at your progress instead of getting mad not getting the kill. Looking up max hits and thus knowing when (not) to eat also really helped me a lot.
One thing I hate about Stretched Mode is the UI scaling is its an all or nothing. I sometimes wish I could only scale up one specific interface and not the others. Bigger inventory without also having to scale up the minimap is one thing that irks me. And as for ground markers, if you dont want all of those ugly colored boxes, then try the Immersive Ground Markers plugin. It lets you mark tiles with objects and decorations. Things like skeletons, skulls, mushrooms, blood splatters. Things that are less visual clutter and can enhance the environment.
I’ve talked this over with people before but I think of the key factors of why I’m bad at bossing and stuff is the way I grew up. I spent my entire childhood playing card games, Pokémon, and jrpgs. Tons of turn based games, where I can sit there decide what and how I want to do things at every event.
Appreciate this! As a skiller I've never messed around with my settings too much, but even just a few minutes in, I can see a huge difference in how easy it is to click things!
I see people always saying don't use stretch because of how far you need to move your mouse to use spells, Prayers, inventory, ect. But you can easily just move your UI around and put your inventory/spell/prayer box within an inch of your character if you want to with HDOS/Runelite. This is some end user energy.
I'd like to add with mouse sensitivity that certain dpi means nothing if your windows pointer speed settings are different (It's the slider just above the acceleration box). 800dpi on pointer speed 4 is not the same as 800dpi with pointer speed 8. Also, the most important thing is that sensitivity is subjective in how it affects your wrist. Your mouse settings should be optimized for osrs, but only to the point you never get wrist pain. Genetics aside, it is not the games fault you get wrist pain, it's your mouse setup and posture. High and low sensitivity can both lead to wrist pain, so try experimenting with as low as possible.
One of the most important things to consider is PLAY WITH UR CHATBOX OPEN and PLAY WITH SOUNDS (also, I find animation smoothing to not be helpful / harder to see the discrete ticks, but could also be just what my brain is used to, it's hard to tell since im not new to the game)
This is extremely helpful as someone who got really used to feeling like an astronaut and struggling with various bosses that i felt i should be doing better on. Thank you homie
Not gonna lie, I'm a max main and I've been playing OSRS since like 2007, but I never passed the learning curve for endgame content out of sheer intimidation. I think it's because I learned the game in a certain way (traditional skill-less mindless auto attack with whip) that when things like raids came out, I felt that I fell too far behind to ever catch up. I'd have to unlearn and re learn new things. I feel like a hypocrite though since I have over 11,000 hours in Dota 2 which is known for being a "hard game" but with time came ease. It's just a thing where my mind is still in 2007scape and I feel overwhelemed by newer content. Not sure what to do. I did a few newer quests just to start myself off. Open to suggestions on how to move foward. (Also I feel like I missed out on COX, the new vampire raid, and even tombs) I think the term for this is catch-up anxiety. This anxiety isn't just for OSRS, but it's even bled into my work life where I have a fear of catching up to newer technologies and platforms, like containerization.
Bro i had my mouse on speed demon settings with acceleration on, and on peices of newer content like DT2 bosses with prayer switches (which i am currently beginning a grind on) once i had a few to many things going at once i'd fly over and misclick (overshoot) and then either have to claw my way back from low hp (and blow a multi run) or tab out... i just turned my acelleration off and played around with the speed (probably 30% slower) and now I can easily one tick dodge and hit swaps more comfortably. It all feels a lot more smooth and calculated. I wanna play with it more, but after i had gone about fixing the size of my Ui, the pointer speed was something I hadn't really considered adjusting before watching this... Appreciate it!
Legit this is such a good overall advice on new players getting started! This is something people have to mention to friends who are still at tutorial island - It'll be a breeze to learn the game if you start doing stuff the 'right way' and not 32" monitor full screen mode wondering why doing a 2-way switch is impossible 😂 Solid vid, keep up the good work Tasty!
How do I change the size of the client? I play fixed because I do a lot of pvp and use stretched mode but I’d like to find a good medium between full screen and a minuscule client
If you master how mouse acceleration works its actually really really good for games. Its just a lot harder to master it than simply turning it off. GuardiaN who was one of most dominant AWPers in CS:GO during his prime, used mouse accsl for his entire career. I learned to play CS with mouse accel on and while making pinpoint adjustments was a somewhat easier once i turned it off, i missed being able to flick at the speed i could with mouse accel on and it really threw me off. Basically it has pros and cons, if you already learned how to play with it, i recommend not turning it off unless you're having trouble making micro adjustments.
Using resizable classic layout but it takes the entirety of my the screen like the zulrah. Feel dumb but how do I change it? I can't seem to make it like 8:00
The full screen zulrah kill made me wince. Lowering the mouse DPI definitely was one of the things that helped my clicks, I don't have mine as low as tasty's, but after lowering my dpi I found doing a full range->mage swap-> mutadile freeze-> range swap so much more seamless and became something I looked forward to instead of dreaded when raiding.
The other big thing about the GPU plugin is that it's not called that for no reason, the Java client RuneLite is based on runs all the graphics on your CPU
6k dpi is the only way to play imo, easy control with the fingers (more easily finely controlled for me than the wrist/full arm) for finding exactly where to go on demand and for close movements its just a lil vibration that's perfect for right click menus and clicking diff invent slots in succession
Buttons on the mouse are helpful, but I only use 2 for my thumb, one for escape (closing interfaces) and one for remapping middle mouse button (for camera control), any much more than that or in other locations are not helpful likely
This is actually not that surprising as most modern FPS games use raw mouse input which bypasses system settings. It means you don't get any mouse acceleration in game, but it would be enabled when navigating your desktop.
Seven seconds into this video, and I have to say, "THANKS" for being a real person, and taking the time to make the video. So many videos these days with AI voice-over, just annoys many people. If your content is worthy, I may be closer to subbing to your channel than many others.

Personally I have been using mouse acceleration with a linear curve for years now, and I would like to say that I am quite good at fps games.
I had some dudes clowning on me during a bingo because I've moved my minimap closer to my inventory so I could click quick prayers/cure poison via hp orb more consistently. Started moving all my ui shit all over the screen just to mess with them for loot screenshots. Playing with inventory at top left is really weird
It should be noted that disabling mouse acceleration should be accompanied by changing mouse pointer speed. If you just turn off that setting alone, your mouse will move slow af and you'll think that it was a terrible choice. I changed my mouse speed to just a hair above the median between slow and fast, removed enhanced pointer precision option, and then it was perfect.
I play on fixed stretched, just checked it was 50% scaling and aspect ratio not kept i'll try your settings for 2 weeks and see how it goes.... Also didn't notice but my mouse dpi was 1600 i'll see how it goes on 1000
Personally my Stretched Mode plugin is at 75%. My game screen fills the whole screen, it doesn't look stretched, I can see everything and it's not too hard to switch gear setups... I got a 42" monitor, and it isn't to barely use a quarter of it.
I'm glad someone finally mentioned the status bars on either side of your inventory, been using them for years. But homie, how you gonna mention that and not have transparent inventory on?
The only critique made for playing on full screen seemed to be the distance between where your eyes are focused and your inventory/prayers. Doesn't being able to move the menu closer to the center of the screen on runelite solve this issue?
It does solve the issue if you want to go that route, at least in my experience. I overlaid an image of the fixed client on top of my screen, lining up the characters, and dragged the UI and map to be in the same position. It looks hideous until you get used to it, but it's the best of both worlds - normal distance for the UI/map clicks and a ton of real estate for interacting with the game world.
I play full screen on a 34 inch 1440p ultrawide, with 2500dpi, I always wondered why I find switches and prayer shit so hard, and just wish I could hot key some stuff. Now I know, and will try some of this stuff
The #1 plugin for learning any new PVM mechanic is the TRUE TILE plugin.....literally game changer. I was a noob until I found that thing and now I can solo all the gwd bosses, solo toa 400s, solo cox, etc etc etc.
please also set your mouse to 6/11 windows setting. your example for pointer precision looks like its at 4/11? which would be causing a form of mouse acceleration/decelleration too.
ima sound like a lunatic but using a trackball increased my click accuracy (had to switch from a regular mouse due to injury) so it feels like I traded speed for accuracy but I am doing content better.. ( getting into deeper waves of the inferno and dieing less at the d2 bosses)
It's super weird. I made the transition a couple times (computer in storage once and didn't realize it had restored the setting) - I'd say it probably takes like a week 100% worth it if you want to do anything but afk skill
@@ignatiushazzard ive gotten pretty far with it on unfortunately, now im thinking back to all the misclicks while pvming over the years wondering if it was me or my settings lol
I play full screen and just have my inventory near the middle of the screen. I'm not sure why everyone seems to think that's such a weird thing to do. Anyone that's seen my screen seems to think I'm a freak for doing that but like....... why? Why is that not a more commonplace thing to do? Moving the UI around seems like a normal thing to do, and having it in the corner feels weird.
i changed my screen size and its making my switches and everything faster even tho my monitor isnt that big it helps just feels weird not being full screen something i have to get use to

@@lightemupp4141 it makes prayer training even better, move your invent right next to altar to spam bones
ima sound like a lunatic but using a trackball increased my click accuracy (had to switch from a regular mouse due to injury) so it feels like I traded speed for accuracy but I am doing content better.. ( getting into deeper waves of the inferno and dieing less at the d2 bosses)
Turning off mouse acceleration blew my mind, ive got to relearn years of muscle memory and im not sure if its worth it lol
i did the same. usually fps games turn it off by default so i never noticed. but runelite doesnt
I did this like a year ago, takes a minute to get used to but it’s very much worth it
It's super weird. I made the transition a couple times (computer in storage once and didn't realize it had restored the setting) - I'd say it probably takes like a week
100% worth it if you want to do anything but afk skill
@@ignatiushazzard ive gotten pretty far with it on unfortunately, now im thinking back to all the misclicks while pvming over the years wondering if it was me or my settings lol
Very worth it, work through it :) if you DO want mouse accel make it a choice and use a custom program like Povohat's (odds are you don't want to).
I literally just left this same comment lol, it's so much easier putting your inv screen next to the boss
i changed my screen size and its making my switches and everything faster even tho my monitor isnt that big it helps just feels weird not being full screen something i have to get use to
One of the best videos from you in a while, meaning absolutely no offence just feel I really enjoyed this and it’s great content for newer players and even me!! Big help.. please could I also mention this in one of my videos if I like this as a reference
“6 inches from one side of the screen to the other”
That’s more than a respectful amount of mouse pad real estate
Wait why are we the same person, both drummers as teenagers and now bald runescapers.
People that use Animation Smoother also use Brain Smoother
