3 Ways To Make Emergency Fire With A T-Shirt

- When there's no dry tinder in the woods consider using parts of your t-shirt to Ferro Rod ignite. It will burn plenty hot enough to dry out and ignite the wettest kindling. Then make use of that emergency fire by using the same 100% cotton t-shirt to cook up some char cloth. Lastly, and alternately, if you don't have a Ferro Rod start thinking bow drill. Your t-shirt will once again save the day as your bowstring and tinder bundle. And, like I alluded to before, next fire mentality dictates that you make char material next. Let me demonstrate all 3 scenarios.

You are the master fire starter
David is channeling his inner Hulk Hogan with this video. I love it!
Haha, glad you noticed! Next time, I’ll try to incorporate a leg drop or two.
😂😂😂 exactly 💯!
Wow, I like this comment. :)
Reminds me of welding and feeling a little warm at times.
Thank you!
"Well, what do you make of that, Bill?" "...I can make a hat or a broach or a terradactyl and a FIRE!"
All your fire making videos are great David but this one is the best ❤ many thanks from cloudy England
In the land where the roses grow,
Underneath the cloud's gentle throw,
Lies England, with its head held high,
Underneath the ever-changing sky.
Clouds may gather, day by day,
Hiding the sun's golden ray.
But fear not, for they too shall pass,
Revealing green fields of dew-kissed grass.
Great demo! I have several old tee shirts to sacrifice to the god of fire.
Thanks glen!
Great job on today's video, sir. You make it look so easy. You're a master.!
Dalem Gumino may be the best on the planet.
Hi David! In a pinch, an old garment can be the down payment on several future fires. Great demo!
So true.
Dave thanks for spending time with us today. good job.
Good stuff here Mr. West, thank you for sharing!
My pleasure!!
You are a fire god! 😂 Very helpful! I learned something! Thank you😊
Excellent stuff my friend.
Thank you kindly!
It sounds like a wild pack of dogs behind you, great video. Thanks
I'm glad that most of my Subscribers are not bothered by the constant yapping of my neighbor's dogs. But, I have to listen to it day in and day out. Therefore, the mini rant. LOL!
VERY GOOD JOB.
Many many thanks!
Thank you Mr west I found your video was outstanding I truly appreciate you sharing it 👍👌🔥
Thanks Joe!
You sir are a fire wizard! If it helps any, those dogs were not offensive to me in any way while viewing this video. 👍😃✌️💪🇺🇸🔥
Good. TY!
Great vid as always David.😊
Perhaps also another good option which uses a t-shirt(some material better than others) to start a fire is using a sharp edge to shave up a lint ball.
Then igniting that with whatever means of spark you have.
The idea is in a survival situation you want to be efficient in using up as little of the resources that provide something for you as possible (while still acheiving the goal)...the t-shirt keeps you warm and protected to some extent.
It’s not a good technique. Yes, you can ignite the scraped up cotton, but then, what do you ignite with such a tiny flame? A flame that only lasts a few seconds? I maintain that if something is ignitable enough to start burning from that scraped up cotton then it’s also flammable enough to ignite directly from the Ferro Rod.
Very cool David, thanks for sharing YAH bless !
Thanks for watching!
Wow. Thank you David. You teach, I learn. Need to pracice more though.
My practice is fun. TY!
Mr, David, saludos 👍 buen método
Thanks Marco!
You make that look easy. I'll I can get is smoke and no ember
With a bow drill.
See my bow drill playlist for tutorials.
That would work well as long as I didn't sweat too much. On a hot humid day in lower Alabama I think my t-shirt will be wetter than the wood in a puddle. lol.
Thanks David.
Great video
I can drench a t-shirt in the Winter too. LOL!
W0W Awesome
Go Dave go! You should have been growling when you ripped the pocket off. BTW, I'll give you $5 for the pocket. I'll pay postage too!
P.s. Just say the word and I'll take care of that dog.😊
LOL! Thanks friend!
Paracord across Paracord get hot and will cut through itself. I wonder if a paracord fire thong would work. Also curious if a mountain bike could be turned upside down and used to spin something fast like an old saw mill?
Let me know. TY!
Thanks Dave, now i can't say those 100%cotton t-shirts are worthless, they DO have a purpose!!!! BTW I live in the far north and we say cotton kills
Once wet, cotton becomes a poor insulator and does a poor job of preventing hypothermia-hence the old adage, “cotton kills
,🔥👍
sup with them dogs?
Not sure. The owner ought to figure it out.
Good video...thanks for not using your briefs!
I’m already thinking of using briefs to redeem myself, redeem the fail in this video.
