1. Sincerity. Deeds that are done with sincerity, solely to please Allah SWT. The duaa made has to be done sincerely as well. 2. Obeying Allah's command despite having the opportunity to disobey; showing mercy/consideration to people over whom one has power, who are vulnerable. These are just 2 of the criteria from the lecture. Shaikh presents these points and a lot more in a beautiful way!

There are many beautiful interpretations and meanings of this hadith. I really love the third man. Not only did he keep the money but he invested it. So he allowed it to increase in abundance. It shows this man has so much honour. That he gave everything his wages wasn’t as he may have had difficulty getting back which was allahs will t ensure he got more money that he probably asked for. Beautiful.

I was an atheist married to a guy like me and living in Abu Dhabi. One day, we had a fight, and he kicked me out and dropped me at the airport with little money. I found myself in Damascus after midnight, wearing summer clothes, don't know anybody, and trying to find transportation to Beirut. I closed my eyes in the middle of the Damascus airport and called for Allah saying ' ya Allah, they say you are closer to use then our hearts, I'm in trouble and need help, if you truly exist, please help me'. Dr Omar, firstly that’s was a wonderful 18 minutes sermon, beautifully said and it made me think, wat if I did a good deed for example I saw an old woman on the street and I gave her some charity, I did it to please Allah SWT because Allah has blessed me and I could afford to, but I also did it for me, for my dua’s to be accepted. My question is was that good deed solely to please Allah SWT?? Dear Sabeen, May Allah have mercy on your mother, forgive her, illuminate and expand her grave and grant her Jannatul Firdaus and reunite you with her there, Ameen. The time and place of our deaths were written for us before we were even born. You could not have changed your mother’s time unless Allah had already written a way out for her. I know you already know that, and I understand. I lost my younger sister at age 29 in a sudden car accident, a few days before her 30th birthday. I know what it’s like when the time feels too short. But it gives me some closure knowing that her time was already determined and there was nothing I did wrong or something I missed that could have changed what was the Qadr of Allah. And know that they are in the loving care of the Most Merciful, and who could care for them better?

Your mother's passing was written; grieve for her, but please do not blame yourself. What happened was completely out of your hands. And yes, dua can change qadar, but it is not our job (nor is it healthy) to lament our lack of dua after a particular event has already transpired. There comes a point where we go to extremes. Trust Allah that things occurred in the best way possible, and that they were out of your control. Please be gentle with yourself, and I pray that Allah will be gentle with you, and that He will grant your mother Jannat ul-Firdaus. Ameen.

Be sincere & obidence to his commands especially when you are in a position of power. Know that your rubb is aware of every second of your life & he is giving you opportunities to save yourself on the day of judgement by being a great human being. The essence of Islam is excellent character.

I did this twice in my lifetime, Allah helped me. I am desperately need help from Allah now. I know this will work based on my experience but still I don’t want to trade off my good deeds. I continue make dua and effort for my hardship. InshaAllah

Dr Omar, firstly that’s was a wonderful 18 minutes sermon, beautifully said and it made me think, wat if I did a good deed for example I saw an old woman on the street and I gave her some charity, I did it to please Allah SWT because Allah has blessed me and I could afford to, but I also did it for me, for my dua’s to be accepted. My question is was that good deed solely to please Allah SWT?? I’m not sure

May Allah have mercy on your mother, forgive her, illuminate and expand her grave and grant her Jannatul Firdaus and reunite you with her there, Ameen.
The time and place of our deaths were written for us before we were even born. You could not have changed your mother’s time unless Allah had already written a way out for her. I know you already know that, and I understand. I lost my younger sister at age 29 in a sudden car accident, a few days before her 30th birthday. I know what it’s like when the time feels too short. But it gives me some closure knowing that her time was already determined and there was nothing I did wrong or something I missed that could have changed what was the Qadr of Allah. And know that they are in the loving care of the Most Merciful, and who could care for them better?

Your mother's passing was written; grieve for her, but please do not blame yourself. What happened was completely out of your hands. And yes, dua can change qadar, but it is not our job (nor is it healthy) to lament our lack of dua after a particular event has already transpired. There comes a point where we go to extremes. Trust Allah that things occurred in the best way possible, and that they were out of your control. Please be gentle with yourself, and I pray that Allah will be gentle with you, and that He will grant your mother Jannat ul-Firdaus. Ameen.
